components - bolts, nuts, screws, keys materials gears, webs, ribs
Methods of dimensioning, general rules for sizes and placement of dimensions for holes,
centers, curved and tapered features.Title boxes, their size, location and details - common
abbreviations & their liberal usage-review
Fits and Tolerances: Fits and tolerance - allocation of fits for various mating parts tolerance data sheet - tolerance table preparation - Geometric tolerance.
Sectional Views: Introduction, Cutting-plane line, Types of sectional views, Sectioning

Shaft Couplings, Clutches and Brakes : Introduction, Fast or rigid couplings, Flanged

Assembly Drawings: a) Machine parts - Screws jack, Machine Vice, Plummer block,
Tailstock, Tool head of a shaping machine b) Valves: Steam stop valve c) Pumps: Centrifugal
pump assembly, gear pump d) Automotive assemblies: Petrol Engine connecting rod, piston
assembly, Fuel injector, Automobile Gear Box, Clutch Assembly (Note: At least 2 assembly
drawings to be done conventionally, Others to be done by 3-Dmodelling,Print outs consisting
of 3-D assembled view and sectional view of the assembly compulsory)
Study of industrial drawings: (At least two drawings)
Detail Drawing: Preparation of parts details given assembled views - screw jack
connecting rod ends etc.
Actual Measurement of Dimensions and Drawing Practice: The students must be made
to disassemble machines and take actual dimensions and prepare parts drawings, assembly
drawings, exploded views and isometric views as record work.
