Background for Acharyas incarnation
Before the descent of Vayu devaru in his 3 rd Incarnation, the world and
especially the knowledgable Brahmins were forced by other factions and
religions to change their thinking, practice and belief causing a huge
damage to the Sanathana Dharma. Buddhism though was prevalent in the
country had taken a back seat due to the efforts of Shankara and Ramanuja
and Bhattakumara in their own way. Incarnations of the great come only
when the time is ripe for the rejuvenation of the real and when the
atrocities on the true religion and the beliefs reach their zenith. The time for
Acharyas incarnation was also no different. Most of the Vedic practices
were done either mechanically or by taking the wrong and prevalent but
popular meaning. Living normally became difficult and people became
more self-centric and materialistic. Rationalists started opposing the
principles
of
Buddhism
and Bhattakumara rejuvenated the Vedic dharma. This reinstated the
Varnashramas and brought in the Advaita school of thought. This brought in
revolution and also caused confusion among the people, they were not able
to distinguish between Advaita and Buddhism. Only mega sacrifices would
give the required liberation was the message of Meemamsa and that
created a lot of ridiculing from the common man. Even though, Ramanuja
brought
in
Sri
Vaishnava
school
of
thought
and people understood the value of devotion, it wasnt strong enough to
bring in the required revolution and revelation. There was no consensus
among the thinking of the learned and common men, as they did not know
where devotion, duty and knowledge meet.
There was an immediate need for people to know the true essence of Vedas
and showing the consensus among the different routes of knowledge, duty
and devotion, but in accordance to the Varnasharama dharma. People also
stopped believing the thinking that was promoting that the world was false,
a real thing which you experience with your own eyes. People were also
looking forward for support to devotion from the shastras. The middle and
the poor class who spent majority of their time, efforts and resource in

taking care of their family needs got disgusted of living when they were told
that all that duty that was done by them was a total waste. It was highly
necessary for a correct interpretation that showed that devotion towards
God is the essence of all the scriptures and it was needed to prove it
through logical reasoning. It was highly needed that a spiritual leader
emerged who could guide both, the knowledgable and the common man
alike and also teach them the true essence of Vedas and other revered
scriptures.
Even though the common man never knew the philosophical angle to
Ramayana, Mahabharata and Puranas, practising vedic rituals even though
he did not know the significance. The tension of human beings reached the
gods, and as Lord Krishna said in Bhagavad Gita, normally the gods and
human-beings mutually co-operate with each other for development.
