Background of the Study

Every institution, council, brotherhood, fraternity,

club, association, college, guild, and etc. has their own
Mission and Vision which is used to explain in
organizations purpose and direction. (www.Wikipedia.com)
Mission statement define the organizations purpose and
primary objectives. These statements why an organization as
a business, both to members of organization to the people
outside it. Mission statement tend to be short, clear, and
powerful. While, vision statements also define the
organization purpose, but they focus on the goals and
aspirations. The statements are designed to be uplifting and
inspiring. There also timeless: even if the organization
changes its strategy, the vision statement can often stay
the same.
Some people think defining a schools vision and
mission and can be done quickly. Wrong! Developing the
schools vision and mission are the two most important steps
toward creating a successful program. Done well, they give
clarity and direction for a school. A muddy vision or
mission can lead to continuing conflicts, and a school that

has difficulty in identifying priorities. In IKGCA the

mission is:
To provide affordable

quality education and carry out

programs for spiritual, mental, physical, and social wellbeing which will strengthen Christian faith, build
character, promote active community service: and offer
scholarship grants to less privileged but Meanwhile its
Vision is:
Iloilo King of Glory Christian Academy Incorporated is
a strong Christ-Centered educational institution, providing
excellent school experiences: preparing, transforming,
building learners for life: making a difference that will
impact the community.
It can be observed that most students in Iloilo King of
Glory Christian Academy Inc. are not aware of the schools
mission and vision. Only a few students can memorize the
whole part of it.
In this connection, something has to be done to
determine the students awareness of the schools mission
and vision. That is the focus of this research. The
objective of the researcher is to examine the awareness of
mission and vision among the students Iloilo King of Glory

Christian Academy Inc. this served as the remedial? In the

school were the researchers were enrolled as students.

THEORITICAL FRAMEWORK OF THE STUDY

This research is based on SOCIAL IDENTITY THEORY which

states that by being a member of a certain institution
provides a sense of identity and a sense of belongingness.
In order to understand the importance of these concepts at
an individual level, it is important to understand the
fundamental concept of SOCIAL IDENTITY THEORY. SOCIAL
IDENTITY THEORY maintains that a person identifies him or
herself as a member of the society. In addition to personal
identity. The self-concept is also of a social identity
(Bhattacharya et.al 1995). Addiction, Ashfat and Mael (1989)
argue that social identification is the perception of
belonging as they all state the something that is applicable
for every single employee, students, etc. within the
organization no matter which department or level he|she
works in. In school, in order for students to feel the sense
of belongingness, they need to be aware of schools mission
and vision. It is for this reason that this study was

conducted. It aimed determine students awareness of mission

and vision in Iloilo King of Glory Christian Academy Inc.

METHDODOLOGY
This chapter presents the methodology of the study.
Specifically, is discusses the research design. Methods,
subjects, sources of data gathering procedures, and
statistical data analysis.

Research Design
This study aimed to determine the Students Awareness
of the Mission and Vision of Iloilo King of Glory Christian
Academy Inc. Estancia, Iloilo during this school year 20142015.
The descriptive method of research was employed in this
research. Descriptive method according to (Gay 1993) is a
way of collecting data in order to test the hypotheses or to
answer questions concerning the current status of the
subjects under study.

The Respondents
The respondents of this study were the 65 high school
of Iloilo King of Glory Christian Academy Inc. Estancia,
Iloilo who were officially enrolled during this school year
2014-2015 excluding dropouts. In selecting these
respondents, the researchers got 20% of the total population
of high school students of the said institution. According
to (Gay 1996) for a descriptive research, 20% of the total
population is enough to represent as samples. Then, they
were selected through simple random sampling or the lottery
procedures, the name of each student were written on a small
piece of paper. The paper were rolled and put inside the
box, then the researchers picked out the name of the student
to be utilized as respondents until the 20% was reached.
The respondents were classified according to their
gender, age, and year level.
The gender was categorized into: Male and Female.

The age was categorized into: Younger (13 years old and
below) and older (14 years old and above).
The year level was categorized into Grade 7, Grade 8,
Grade 9 and 4th year.
The data in table 1 shows the distribution of the
respondents classified as to certain categories. As shown
from the table, there were 65 respondents.
When classified as to their gender, there were 44.6
males and 36 or 55.4 females.
When they were classified as to their age, there were
23 or 35.4 younger students and 42 or 64.6 older students.
When they were classified as to their year level, there
were 23 or 35.4% Grade 7, 15 or 23.1 Grade 8, 12 or 18.5
Grade 9, 15 or 23.1 4th Year.

Recommendations
The following are hereby advanced based on the findings
and conclusions of the study.
The students should make an effort to memorize the
Mission and Vision of the school for it is one of the
important thing that the students should always keep in mind
and understand. Through this, they will know the purpose and
goals of the institution.

In addition, the teacher/advisers must have the

participation that it will be a requirement to every student
especially the grade 7 or the newbees to memorize the
Mission and Vision and they should impose the significance
of it. They could also give an extra credit or plus to those
can memorized.

It was observed that some students can only remember the

whole lines of the Mission and Vision during a particular
period of time but as it goes by, their knowledge about it
becomes lesser and mostly forget about it .Therefore ,
recommend that every

student is required

we

to recite the

Mission and Vision right after the flag ceremony.

Furthermore, each classroom could also have a header of the
Mission and Vision for several purposes.
