Rivers have been an important source of Water for human existence. All civilization to
modern cities have been built on banks of rivers. River provide us water for consumption,
agriculture and other needs. But as the civilization has advanced and modernization began,
the discharge of waste in river has also increased. Today, most of the industrial, agricultural
and municipal waste is discharged in rivers. This discharge causes many adverse effect on
river and has a potential to die the river.
In our project, we will study the fate of contaminations in river after it has been discharged.
We will study the behavior of their concentration with respect to time travel. We will study
the change in concentration of Oxygen due to discharge by 6 Industries in Yamato-Gawa
River using ModelMaker. We will compare our result with results published in a research
paper. The contaminant we will study is Sodium, considering Sodium as a Non-Conservative
contaminants. We will check the behavior of concentration of sodium in river column and in
sediments, and compare their value with WHO limit.
