PREREQUISITES
Students MUST have completed and earned a grade of C-or better in Stat 1001 or
Mathematics 1022; OR a C grade in Mathematics 1011 plus a passing grade on the
Statistics 1001 challenge exam; OR a sufficient score on the Math Placement exam to
waive Statistics 1001 (C011).
COURSE OBJECTIVES
This course provides an introduction to differential and integral calculus. Topics include
functions and graphs, differentiation of polynomial, logarithmic, exponential, and rational

functions. Higher order derivatives with applications, maximum and minimum, breakeven analysis and market equilibrium are covered. Integration, antiderivative and the
definite integral with applications to marginal analysis, and other problems in business
and economics.

TI-83, TI-86, Casio fx-9850GA+ or GB+, or similar graphing utility is required

CLASSROOM POLICY
1) Casual talking during class is not permitted, as it is a sign of disrespect
toward and the professor and other students. Students who engage in

conversation will receive only one warning. If talking persists, the students
grades will be lowered by ONE GRADE LEVEL and he/she will be referred
to the Deans office for further disciplinary action.
2) If you are late to class you must take a seat at the back of the room. Do not
come to the front of the room once the lecture has started.
3) All cell phones and laptops must be turned off in the classroom.
4) Missed exams & quizzes receive a grade of Zero unless you formally
document a medical emergency within 24 hours. Missing the Final Exam will
result in an automatic grade of F for the course.
