This is an instructor led workshop with short
presentations and demonstrations, extended
exercises, and hands on sessions and
discussion.
Workshop Goal
Accurate system service and professional
troubleshooting is a prerequisite of high
system availability demanded by todays
automation industry. This Expert Workshop
provides in depth troubleshooting skills and
abilities for the 800xA core system. It covers
troubleshooting on domain controllers,
networks, time synchronization, and Aspect
Servers. It goes into detail on the alarm &
event architecture, the data flow to graphics,
and the flow of history data. After this
workshop the student is prepared to deliver
superior service for 800xA systems.
Student Profile
This Expert Workshop is targeted at service
engineers, system engineers, system test
engineers, system administrators, and
system integrators.
Prerequisites and Recommendations
Participants should have good understanding
of System 800xA administration, and

troubleshooting tools (possibly through


T302/T305). Knowledge of Microsoft server
operating systems, domain concepts, and
networking (e.g., TCP/IP protocol and DNS)
is useful.
Workshop Objectives
Upon completion of this workshop, the
student will be able to:

Restore a crashed redundant domain


controller or Aspect Server.

Use tools for troubleshooting windows


and networking.

Use special tools of 800xA and 3rd party


tools for troubleshooting OPC problems,
alarm & event problems, and history
problems.

Monitor and analyze the flow of data


through System 800xA.

Troubleshoot inconsistencies in System


800xA, i.e., between redundant Aspect
Servers, Aspect Directory and Control
Builder M.

Topics Covered
Analyze and troubleshoot domain
controllers.

Restore a crashed domain controller in


redundant configuration.

Troubleshoot network problems using


standard windows tools.
