There were around 9 of us...We were given a situation where we had to select
a leader n a deputy leader for a lifeboat. A list of six people along with their
qualities in detailed form was provided. We were given 10 mins to go through
it and 45 mins to discuss among ourselves to select a leader n deputy leader.
It was basically a team work. We completed the activity in around 30 mins.

Interview No. 1
(Taken by Hari and Rohini.....lasted for around 25mins)
Q: How was ur experience till now?
A: I think I did the algos well...could hv done better in apti n GD.

Q: How could u hv done better in GD? Was there any contribution by u in d

A: I had some points but b4 I said them...somebody else grabbed it. Yes....I
came up with a good point that changed one of our decisions in the GD.
Q: Opened my algorithm answer sheet and asked me to explain.
A: I did
Q: Asked me suggest some data structure for the first algo.(asked by rohini)
A: Matrix or 8-ary tree
Q: Pros n cons of using 8-ary tree(asked by rohini)
A: memory n some crap....(wasnt gettin it!!)
Q: Asked abt ITA project...its architecture, asked 4 page by page explanation
A: I did....though was not able to name a few functions... .
Q: Wat is CSS, diff between CSS n HTML. (asked by rohini)
A: Answered
Q: Features of Oracle 10g(the one i used 4 my project), difference between
oracle10g and any other db that u hv used(i said MS Access!!) (asked by

surname 'Lala' tha.....lasted for 1 hr)

Q: Any feedback on our tests?

Q: I have 50 bucks in my account. It is getting updated from 2 different places
simultaneously (+20 and +10). How will u ensure that it is 80 at the end?
A: I had the concept of locks in my mind....thoda tp karne ke baad i was able 2
answer.
Q: Wat is dirty read?
A: Explained thoda "Locality of reference" ka concept...but he said that he
want it wrt DB. I said I dont know.
Q: Types of join?
A: Answered
Q:Explain outer join.
A: Sir, i can remember only join....explained that.....
Then he asked some puzzles:
1) Make 4 equilateral triangles using 6 matchsticks
2) How will u weigh a jet plane without using scale
3) The famous 5 pirates n 100 coins puzzle
4) How many times do the hands of a clock coincide in a day
5) There are 5 jars...4 have equal weights ke marbles(say 10 each)...n 5th one
has 9 gms ke. How will find out which one 9gms ke marbles...u can use thee
scale only once.
6) There are 2 buckets...one of 5 litres, another of 3. How can u measure 4
litres.

Q: So...u hv done internship in Microsoft... ..why would u prefer GS over MS?
A: Band baj gayeee!!!!!! I gave him a couple of reasons....but he
said......"Whatever you say...you can never convince me!!!!"

(Taken by Krishna...started at around 8:45....for around 20 mins)
Asked me:Your job as Program Manager in MS....wat did u do...hw was d
experience.. .why did they select u as PM....dont u think its better to first work
as coder...
It was basically a discussion.. .asked me if given a choice of PM, coder n
tester...which one would i choose n why? I said tester..coz i like listin down
test cases...checking boundary conditions etc...Then he explained me that a
tester's job is a difficult one...i said yes(!!!! aur kya bolun???!!!! !)
Asked me if MS has given any job offer....I said they hv taken interviews.. .but
had said that they dont need emplyees nw.....result will be out in october
(bohot dil kar raha tha bolne ka ki bhai wahan kuch nahin hone wala.....plz
dont consider that......but. ..i couldnt)

Asked me d difference between comps n IT...their subjects.... students'

preference while taking admissions.. ...
Then asked me "balanced trees"
A: I dont remember
Q: ACID properties of DB
A: Could recollect only "C"!!!! (I regretted this one....

Q: Difference between call by value n reference, can an array be passed by

value...<must hv thought ki end mein easy questions poochkar bechari ko
khush kar deta hoon...!!>
A: Answered
Again asked that 5 jars wala puzzle.
Finally...it was over...he said at the end..."I enjoyed talking to you"...followed
by handshake... I said "Even i enjoyed sir"....
It was a good experience over all.....though fruitless... hope this will benefit
others... though i doubt if anyone will even read this mail till the end....!!!!

I don't know why am I writing this, but could be beneficial to you in some
sense.

NVIDIA Interview Experience

Firstly the test was good. 14 people got shortlisted (randomly according to
me ).
Everyone was given a time for interview, mine was 2.30 .
I was on time, as soon as I reached the interviewers cabin, he asked me to
come in and lock the door. He was smiling and I couldnt make out the
deadly intensions behind the smile .
The questions were as below:
Have you ever done a system programming?
Ans: No .

Then tell me what all you have done so far?

Ans: Sir, I have done some application layer Web Projects . Also I have done
an offline project in core java technology.
<explained my java project(Slam Book)>
<explained the s2b project(City Without Crime) >

(the toughest of all) Give me some 4 to 5 ways how to hack your web
site?
Ans: <explained something about phishing>
<said something about session variables, if server hacked by some means all
data gone>
<if a person closes the IE without signing out, cookies could be misused>

Ohk, what are the measures to prevent this..?

Ans: use SSL, https may be useful (I was throwing words in air).

Tell me how will you implement the ssl?

Ans: dont know, FUTURE enhancement part of the project

Ans: nobody, garbage is there.

Ans: then initialised to 0.

Ans: dont know.

Ans: which variables
If local onto the stack
If register variable in the register

Ans: dont know

Tell me, what all things happen before the main() is executed?
Ans: dont know

Hint , remember the OS concepts

Ans: insufficient hint, I cant recollect. I dont know the answer.

--> he asked to covert decimal to hexadecimal.

Ans: I made a program using n%16 and then n/16 in a while loop.
after some time, he asked to do it in a line...
I thought of something, then he told only to show, not to calculate.
I used printf("%x", n);
He said this was what expected.... ( bloody fool, pehle kyu nahi bataya ki sirf
display karna
hai, calculate nahi....)

Again the deadly smile reappeared (It was Ravis turn to feel what I felt).

Finally Namrata(comps) got selected. Congo to her, best of luck to others for
