The objectives considered in the following matrix included:

Economic
This objective takes into consideration the alternatives ability to incur the
least amount of cost. The cost would include, firstly, the cost of construction, that is,
the cost of materials and labour which would be largely dependent on the length of
the road as well as the type of terrain on which it is built. The cost of maintaining
the constructed road must also be considered. Moreover, the possible cost of
compensating any residents in the area surrounding the construction site who might
be adversely affected by the construction activities or who may have to be
relocated must also be taken into account. The construction process may also have
an adverse effect on the natural environment in the surrounding area, and so,
taking steps to decrease the environmental impact may mean utilizing more
expensive procedures in the construction process, the cost of which must also be
taken into account when considering economic feasibility.

Social

Physical
This objective evaluates the physical risk incurred in each respective
broadband. The physical aspect of the construction process takes various factors
into consideration such as:

The stability of the soil which if unstable would require the use
of stabilizing structures such as retaining walls.

The geology of the construction area such as fault lines, slope of

the land and rock types present

The facilitation of drainage

The location of the water table

The vegetation and land use of the area- the removal of which
may affect the potential for soil erosion and lead to land slips.

The amount of rainfall that the area receives this is related to

soil type, and drainage as the soil in the area may not allow for quick
infiltration of surface water which may cause pooling problems on the
roadway.

Environmental
This objective evaluates how much of an environmental impact, with focus on
the negative, the roadway will have if placed within each respective broadband.
Hence, it focuses on:

Loss of wildlife habitat and agricultural lands due to clearing of
the land for construction

The alteration of natural drainage patterns as the roadway may

intercept natural water courses

The possible pollution of water channels from the dust and fill
disposal processes

Constructability
This objective evaluates the ease with which a roadway can be constructed
within each broadband. This would take into consideration factors such as:

The availability of labour

The need for and availability of experts in the case where highly
technical construction processes must be undertaken

The ease with which required materials can be acquired

The accessibility of the construction areas

The level of danger involved in completing construction

activities, for example, mountainous terrain may harbour more risk than
levelled terrain.

Social

Broadband 1
positives
Provide much more development in fairly mild terrain in comparison to the other 2
broadband.
Shortest route will allow for much quicker transit
Less people will be displaced to a potential road in this broadband.
Easier access to major population centers like port of spain
Negatives
the band being within 3 km of the existing road will reduce the traffic passing
through existing commercial areas hence reducing business conducted in the the
areas.

Any road in BB 1will likely split the existing community serviced by lady young
community

Due to the factors listed above BB 1 was given a rating of 8 on a scale of 1 10 with
10 representing the highest score.

Broadband 2
positives
Provide more development in harsh terrain.
