Kindergarten Technology Lesson Plans

Week 1:

computers/technology, who has what at home, and what they can

Have all students on the carpet and explain digital citizenship is


how we can be safe on the computers. Show the students the
videos from the page on the page above. You can also show them
the music video on the Lee & Kim tab if there is time. Review the
Top Tips tab. Then show the students how they can complete the
puzzles at their own computer. (Show them how to turn on the
puzzle gridlines as well.) Students will work on the jigsaw puzzles
at their computers.
In class the students have created a FALL acrostic poem. They will be shown
how to open Word. They will be shown how to make their font a bigger size by
pushing the increase font size shortcut button 10 times (font size 48). Then
they will type the word

students. They will work on their mouse skills and decision making skills by
creating a jack-o-lantern with the carving tool. They can go to

computer. Have students come sit on the carpet. Show them the website and click
through a few pages together. Show students how to click on the speaker for the
words to be read to them. Also, show them how to click the arrow at the bottom of
the page to move to the next page. Model how to listen to all the information and
look at the pictures as they read. Have students go to their computers and read
through the magazine on their own.

typed 100 letters, they can practice how to modify font size, color, different
fonts. Print out,

*Using TuxPaint, students will make a Valentines Day card for a family
member. Teachers will give students ideas of what to write. Students will add

Using Symbaloo, students will select Turtle Diary. They will then choose the
icon for Identify Coins and play the game. If they have extra time they can

On the Library Media Homepage, students will select the Dr. Seuss goldfish
estimation link. They will select the first tab and type their first and last
name. They will learn to use the Tab key to move to the next box and type
their teachers name. Then they will tab to the last box and type in their
estimate.
*When they finish this they may go to Turtle Diary on Symbaloo and choose
the icon for Identify Coins and the Phonic Train games.
On the board, have this sentence written: I live in Texas. Have students open
Microsoft Word. Show them how to change the font, size and color using the
