TRENTON The nurses at Monmouth County Jail
gave Amit Bornstein reasonable medical care after two
struggles with corrections officers, a defendants expert testified Friday.
Dr. Robert Perkel, a board-certified family medicine
doctor and professor at Thomas Jefferson University,
recounted for the jury a timeline setting forth the care
that Correct Care Solutions staff gave Bornstein, 22,
based off the nurses medical notes.
All of those steps, he said, were adequate including that nurses stopped care and only observed from a
distance because they said Bornstein was acting aggressively.

Initiative draws black youth to Little League

LAKE COMO Sixty years ago Carl Johnson stood on a pristine baseball
field in Williamsport, Pa., hearing thousands of spectators chanting in the
stands above him.
Let them play! Let them play! the crowd yelled.
It was August 1955, years before Johnson had moved to Lake Como. He was
a 12-year-old boy, playing third base for the YMCA Cannon Street Little
League All-Stars team the first all-black team to make it to the Little League
World Series.
But a Little League official used a technicality to deem the Cannon Street
team ineligible to play. They still were allowed to warm up, though, which is
when many of the audience members started chanting.
