Valentines Concert at Work Options
On Friday 13th February, Music Matters celebrated Valentine's Day. We had hoped to sing
outside and sell our hand-made Valentine's gift packages - unfortunately, Friday the 13th lived
up to its name. The rain didn't dampen our spirits, as we had a special concert at Work Options/
St Michael's House

We sang old favourites like "Catch a Falling Star" and "Ho Hey", as well as newer songs "Black
is the Colour of my true love's hair" and "Oh Happy Day" - finishing with "Can't take my eyes off
you"
Glen O'Connor, one of the newest members of our Monday choir, sang "Can't Help Falling in
Love", to a cheering and appreciative audience!

Do You Feel My Love? on YouTube
Do You Feel My Love? is the beautiful, heart-warming
song written and composed by Kevin Cave, who has been
a member of Music Matters for almost three years
Naoise Kelly, Kevins friend of many years, who is also a
choir member, duets with him on this track. Their voices
highly complement each other and both singers give a
stunning performance

Thats a Rap with Temper-Mental MissElayneous

"That's a Rap" is a 5 week rap and performance project for people with intellectual disabilities.
Developed by Axis Ballymun in association with Music Matters, this exciting new youth arts
project will give young people with intellectual disabilities (15 - 27 years) the opportunity to dive
into the world of Hip Hop and rap by working with the well-known hip-hop artist and poet,
Temper-Mental MissElayneous.
Participants will also have the chance to showcase all they have learned at this year's LiFT
Youth Arts Festival in April. This project is sponsored by the Communications Workers Union.
Special thanks to Jonathan Ho for taking these photos which capture the spirit and enthusiasm
of this unique project

Topics covered at these workshops include the importance of breathing and warm-up
exercises, good posture, and an introduction to rap and hip-hop culture. Temper-Mental
MissElayneous will facilitate our members with creative and artistic development, so they can
write and perform their own rap lyrics
