INTRODUCTION
a. What is the specific heat engine you are going to
do.?

- Diesel Engine
b. How does it function
- Most diesel engines use a four-stroke cycle: the
pistons first, downward stroke draws in air; the
second, upward stroke compresses it; the third,
downward stroke, following combustion, delivers
power; and the fourth, upward stroke expels waste
gases. At the end of a piston compression stroke, a
fuel injector sprays fuel into the combustion
chamber. Air temperature inside the chamber at that
point is about 540 C (about 1000 F). The fuel
ignites, causing a rapid expansion of hot air that
forcefully pushes the piston downward. That downward
power stroke turns the crankshaft.
c. What are the parts of the engine and its
function?
1. Top Cover- pouring of motor oil.
2. Cylinder Head- Passageway of the motor
oil and water
3. Crank Shaft- placement of the piston and
connecting rod for spinning in the
machine.
It
transforms the reciprocating motion of the
piston
into a rotary motion.
4. Block- body of machine, where the crankshaft is
connected.
5. Injection Pump- the diesel in the tank will
pass by the injection pump, then go to
cylinder
head where there is production.
6. Fuel Filter- filter the oil and motor oil.
7. Blower (machine)- it produces air in order to
make the machine temperature stable.
8. Water Pump- circulate the water within the
machine
9. Fly Wheel- where the clutch lining is connected
in order to be clutch. The flywheel has gear teeth
around its perimeter that allow the starting

motors to engage and crank the diesel.

10. Clutch Lining- it makes the engine work.
11. Crankis- store of motor oil and where the oil
drained.
12. Connecting Rod- holds the piston.
13. Piston and Piston Rings- To prevent the
combustion gasses from bypassing the piston
and to
keep friction to a minimum, each piston has
several metal rings around it. These
rings
function as the seal between the
piston and the
cylinder wall and also act to
reduce friction by
minimizing the contact area
between the piston and
the cylinder wall.
14. Engine Lubrication- One purpose is to
lubricate the bearing surfaces. The other
purpose
is to cool the bearings by absorbing the
friction
generated heat. The flow of oil to the
moving
parts is accomplished by the
engine's internal
lubricating system.

II. OBJECTIVES
- To make a scale model of diesel engine.

2 or 3 inches
4 or 5 inches
1.5 or 2 feet
1 or 2 inches
1 or 1.5 feet

IV. PROCEDURE
a. How will you prepare the materials you will use?

- The materials that will be used especially to

those improvise parts of the diesel engine model
should be done first so that upon doing the project
(product) there will no delay in doing so and also so
that it will be done successively. The materials to
be used should be complete and durable.
b. How will you assemble the engine?
- The engine will be assembled accordingly.
Constructing it step by step. The disc will be cut to
its desired length and will serve as a winder where
the lace will rotate into it. There will be 3 pairs
that will be made wherein the two pairs will be
connected to the both ends of the pole while and for
the other pair it will be connected on the top of the
other pair one, so that all parts will work and
rotate. The bottle will be located at the center of
the pole and inside the bottle there is the
piston(improvise) wherein there will be up-and-down
or reciprocating.
