Concealed Handgun License Information

Both new applications and renewals are by appointment only. Please call 541-4735126 to schedule your appointment.
New Applicants: At your appointment you will submit this application, be photographed,
fingerprinted and fees will be collected. Please have a check or money order in the
amount of $65.00 made payable to MCSO. Exact cash can also be accepted. You will
need to bring two current forms of Identification and one must be photo ID such as a
drivers license. You will also need to bring proof of citizenship.
Renewal Applicants: At your appointment you will submit your application, be
photographed and pay your renewal fee. Please have a check or money order in the
amount of $50.00 made payable to MCSO. Exact cash can also be accepted. You will
also need to bring your previous handgun license and a current photo ID.
All fees are non-refundable and cover the cost of the background investigation and
processing required by law.
In addition, at the time of application, new applicants must be able to demonstrate
competence by any of the methods provided by law as follows:
1. Completion of any NRA firearms safety or training course if handgun safety was a
component of the course.
2. Completion of any hunter education or hunter safety course approved by the State
Department of Fish and Wildlife or a similar agency of another state if handgun safety
was a component of the course.
3. Completion of any handgun safety or training course or class available to the general
public offered by law enforcement, community college or private institution or
organization utilizing instructors certified by the NRA or a law enforcement agency.

4. Completion of any law enforcement firearms safety or training course offered for
security guards, investigators, reserve law enforcement officers or any other law
enforcement officers if handgun safety was a component of the course.
5. Presents written evidence of equivalent experience with a handgun through
participation in organized shooting competitions or military service. This would include
official score sheets, a DD214 that specifies handgun training, and military training
records.
6. Is licensed or has been licensed to carry a firearm in this state, unless license has been
revoked.

Foreign Birth Form) or Naturalization paperwork will work for proof of citizenship. If you are a legal resident alien who
