Flexi mounting kit for floor, wall and pole

(FMFA) description
Flexi BTS modules are installed on the floor, wall or pole using Flexi
mounting kit for floor, wall and pole (FMFA). The FMFA consists of a plinth
and adapter mechanics. It is a plinth that is required in BTS site
installations without a cabinet. The plinth provides grounding points for
BTS and module grounding. The mounting principles are the following:

In floor mounting, the plinth is fixed directly onto the floor. To meet
the Telcordia GR-63-CORE Vibrational requirements for earthquake
Zone 4 requirement, the maximum number of modules in a stack is
five (maximum total height 15 U). To meet the Telcordia GR-63CORE Vibrational requirements for earthquake Zone 2 requirement,
the maximum number of modules in a stack is nine (maximum total
height 22 U).
In wall mounting, the plinth is fixed onto the wall either by using
adapter mechanics or directly to the wall. The maximum number of
modules per plinth is two.
In pole mounting, the plinth is fixed onto the pole mounting kit
(VMPB) by using adapter mechanics. Adapters are needed to
reduce the influence of non-parallel surfaces of the mounting
brackets. The maximum number of modules per plinth is two.
The FMFA delivery includes two fixing plates for the casings. Used in
pole and wall installations, the plates are attached across two
module casings on both sides of the modules.

Flexi mounting kit for floor, wall and pole (FMFA) description
The plinth has a back stop that prevents installing the BTS too near to a
wall (40 mm).
The compartment behind the front panel of the plinth is used as a storage
place, for example, for seal caps.

Flexi Pole Installation Kit (FPIA) consists of an installation plate, straining
strap and four screws. It is used for installing the following auxiliary units to
a pole:

Flexi System External GPS Mediator (FSEG)
The pole can between 60 mm (2.4 in.) and 120 mm (4.7 in.) in diameter.
There are two sets of fixing points on the installation plate. The FPIA can
carry the weight of 5 kg (11 lbs).

Flexi Pole Mounting Kit (FPKA)

description
The Flexi Pole Mounting Kit (FPKA) can be used with poles between 60
mm (2.4 in.) and 120 mm (4.7 in.) in diameter. The most commonly used
size is 80 mm (3.1 in.). The FPKA can replace the VMPB Pole Mounting kit
in installations where the pole diameter is less than 120mm (4.7 in.).

The width of the fixing points is 184 mm (7.2 in.) and 64 mm (2.5in.). There
are fixing points in three sides of the FPKA. The M10 screws should be
tightened to 30Nm and the M8 screws 20 Nm. The FPKA can carry the
maximum weight of 160 kg (352.7 lbs).

Flexi mounting covers for back and front

(FMCA and FMCB) description
Flexi mounting covers for back and front are optional 3U (FMCA) and 2U
(FMCB) module covers that are required in installations without a cabinet.
The primary functions of the covers are to provide protection against winddriven rain, visual protection, and mechanical protection for the cables.
Furthermore, the back cover protects the installer's fingers from the
rotating fans. The front cover air deflector is semi-transparent to allow
assessing the status of the hardware LEDs without removing the front
covers.

Installing the Modules document.
The FMCA and FMCB deliveries include a grounding cable. Note that it is
not included in any module deliveries.

Flexi System External Alarm Box (FSEB) operation
The FSEB box is used for extending the Flexi BTS alarm connector to
support up to 24 alarm interfaces. 12 alarms are supported for Flexi
WCDMA BTS. Support for the fire detector is also provided. The FSEB box
provides IP55 protection.
In outdoor applications, the box can be attached to the outdoor cabinet
roof. There are fixing points for the FSEB in the outdoor cabinet. In indoor
or stacked applications, the box is attached in the proximity of the
modules, for example, on a wall.
The Flexi Mounting Auxiliary Brackets (FMAA) can be used to mount the
FSEB on the top or outer casings in pole, wall, and stack configurations.
The brackets are mounted on the top or outer casing using the existing
connection pin holes. Flexi Pole Installation Kit (FPIA) can be utilised for
pole installations.

document.

Flexi system external OVP (FSEC) description
Flexi system external OVP (FSEC)

description
The FSEC protects Flexi WCDMA sub-modules against surge pulse(s) in
power feeding lines. This section describes protection device only for DC
lines in the feederless site solution. The same mechanics can also be used
for AC line devices, but the connectors and OVP devices need to be
changed. The FSEC gives Class II (C, T2) protection for DC power feed
and provides IP55 protection. For FSEC installation instructions, see
section Installing Flexi System External OVP (FSEC) in the Installing Flexi
WCDMA BTS Optional Items document.
The FSEC box is also used for altering the DC cable diameter. For more
detailed information on the FSEC usage in the Feederless site solution,
see Installing feederless site.

operation
Flexi System External GPS Mediator (FSEG) is used for providing IP55
protected area for powering and connecting the GPS module (GPS
Antenna Kit FYGA) to the BTS system. The FSEG is only used with the
FSMB when GPS synchronisation is needed. No specific software is
needed for running the FSEG.

stacked applications, the FSEG is attached in the proximity of the BTS.
The FSEG can be installed either horizontally (cable lead-ins on the side)
or vertically (cable lead-ins facing down). The FSEG can be attached to a
pole (using FPIA brackets) or to a wall (screw holes).

It is possible to synchronize a maximum of five System Modules with GPS

9.1.1
Operation
The FPMA can support 1-phase and 3-phase AC input. The nominal input
voltage is 200-240 V AC (the operating voltage range is 180 - 276 V AC).
The maximum output power from the FPMA is 4kW (with 4 FPAAs).
Flexi Power AC-DC sub-module (FPAA)
The main function of the FPAA is to provide the BTS with nominal 48 V DC
power from an AC supply. Maximum DC output power of one FPAA
module is 1000 W. A nominal 48 V DC supply is intended for BTS internal
use only (a nominal 48 V DC supply is not intended for 3rd party
equipment because they may require lower conducted emission level than
EN55022 Class A). It should be especially noted that an external lead acid
battery for longer backup times cannot be connected to nominal 48 V DC
supply. (This is because the temperature compensation of charging
voltage is not supported). The FPAA includes its own integrated selfcontrolled fan. In case the fan fails, an alarm is generated and the FPAA
has to be replaced (the fan alone cannot be replaced).
Flexi Power Battery sub-module (FPBA)
The Flexi Power Battery Sub-Module (FPBA) is a separate optional submodule used together with the FPAA.
The FPBA provides short-term battery backup time when the AC power
mains is down on a Flexi BTS site. The FPBA is a lithium ion battery. The
maximum DC output power from one FPBA module is 1000 W. The input
power for the BTS cannot exceed the maximum output power of the
installed batteries. Otherwise the batteries do not provide the BTS with the
needed power during power failure.

Flexi power DC/DC sub-module (FPDA) operation
Flexi power DC/DC sub-module (FPDA) is an optional stand-alone 2 kW
DC/DC module.
The FPDA converts nominal 24 V DC input voltage (normally negative
grounded) 53-55 V DC output voltage. The 53-55 V DC is then distributed
to BTS loads. A maximum of two FDPA modules can be connected in
parallel using external connecting cables between the output connectors
of the two units.
Conducted emission level of the 53-55 V DC supply is according to the
standard EN55022 Class A. The 53-55 V DC supply is intended for BTS
internal use only (the 53-55 V DC supply is not intended for 3rd party
equipment because they may require lower conducted emission level than
EN55022 Class A). It should be especially noted that an external lead acid
battery cannot be connected to the 53-55 V DC supply (because the
temperature compensation for charging voltage is not supported).
The FPDA includes its own integrated self-controlled fan. In case the fan
fails, an alarm is generated and the fan has to be replaced.

FCIA cabinet construction
Flexi BTS modules can be installed in optional indoor and outdoor BTS
cabinets.
The modules inserted into the cabinets are environmentally protected to
IP54 level already; the casings and outdoor cabinet raise the protection
level of the modules to IP55. The cabinets do not carry any BTS
functionality; there are no traditional backplanes or electronics.
The same optional cabinets can house Nokia Flexi EDGE and BBU
modules. Therefore, it is possible to build GSM/EDGE, WCDMA/HSPA or
multiradio (GSM/EDGE/WCDMA/HSPA/WIMAX) configurations.
The FCIA IP protection class is IP20.
In the indoor cabinet, the cable entries are located on top of the cabinet
and the jumpers are connected directly to the modules.

The Multi Integrated Battery Backup Solution consists of

one to four rectifier power units (WPM).
The power distribution unit mainly distributes the input AC mains to the

enters the battery backup mode in the event of an AC mains failure. The
alarm generated by the control unit is forwarded to the BTS O&M software.
Flexi Battery Mounting Kit for FCIA (FMBB)
Flexi Battery Mounting Kit (FMBB) is needed when using batteries or the
MIBBU solution in FCIA. The mounting kit is installed at the bottom of the
cabinet.

Air filter
The optional air filter (FCFA) can be added in case of extremely dirty
environment (for fresh air cooled modules). The optional air filter provides
cover for extremely dirty conditions by over-pressurizing the cabinet. The
FCFA delivery includes the air filter and a wind plate.

The air filter is installed in the back of the cabinet, replacing the original
back wall. It consists of a filter element, 8 x diagonal fans, a pressure
sensor, a control logic, and back wall mechanics. The wind plate is
installed in the cabinet door.
The control of the FCFA fans is based on a pressure sensor. The pressure
sensor measures pressure inside the cabinet and this information is then
used for controlling the fan speed.

Site support module

The optional site support module (FCSA) can be used with the outdoor
cabinet to provide long-term battery back-up time for the Flexi WCDMA
BTS and a space for installing Line Terminal Equipment (LTE) units. The
FCSA provides IP55 protected installation space for the PDU unit, IBBU
AC interface box, rectifier units, LTE equipment, control card, heat
exchanger, and fans.
There is a separate option for battery installation in the site support
module. Batteries are fixed and cabled using Flexi Mounting Kit for
Batteries (FMBA). The kit contains battery cables, a cable from IBBU to the
battery cables for safe installation, rubber spacers, and front fixing parts to
the batteries.

Before the mounting kit can be installed, the following parts are removed
from the lower half of the GSM/EDGE UltraSite cabinet:

The mounting kit consists of one dual rack in which one System Module
and one RF Module are installed, one single rack for the second RF
Module installation, and cables. There is a remaining space of 1 U in the
single rack when the RF Module is installed.

Overview of I-HSPA Adapter (FHAA) hardware

The I-HSPA Adapter (FHAA) has been designed as a 1U high 19-inch rack
element to be installed in any BTS cabinet or enclosure where the Flexi
BTS can be installed, such as the Nokia Siemens Networks Flexi BTS
indoor and outdoor cabinets, the Nokia Siemens Networks UltraSite GSM/
EDGE cabinet, with either horizontal or vertical fixing kit; and standard 19inch equipment racks.

The I-HSPA Adapter can be fitted to a Flexi BTS 2U module casing. When
used with the Flexi BTS module casing, the I-HSPA Adapter can be
installed with the Flexi WCDMA BTS in stand-alone configurations, such
as free-standing, wall mounted or pole mounted.

The I-HSPA Adapter uses forced air cooling based on fresh air intake from
back to front. This allows it be installed either horizontally or vertically. The
contents of the I-HSPA Adapter delivery also include and air-blocking
plate, to be used if the I-HSPA Adapter is with the Flexi BTS 2U module
casing.
The I-HSPA Adapter features a lightweight aluminium alloy casing with
stainless steel alloy used for the fan carrier.

Talk Conversion Kit (EMIA)

Flexi WCDMA BTS modules can be installed into the CityTalk cabinet by
using the Talk conversion kit EMIA. The inner parts of the CityTalk cabinet
are removed before the Flexi WCDMA modules are installed and certain
parts of the CityTalk cabinet are replaced with new parts belonging to the
EMIA kit
The CityTalk cabinet retains its outline dimensions and the mechanical
shape when modified with EMIA. The Flexi WCDMA BTS within the
modified cabinet fulfills the Flexi WCDMA temperature and IP
requirements. It is also possible to equip the cabinet with an optional air
filter kit.
