Dear Onesi

Like Frosty the Snownan - 1990 waved goodbye* as it rushed past. It

seemed like a very short year to us and we've heard others say the same.
As we look back we can see things accomplished for our Lord - In

Colonia Olivares we have seen physical work on the property as well as spiritual
work among the members. The building has been painted, cross ventilation

windows added, a cooler aquired (120^, nine month long summers makes you see
we needed one.) The wall between the parsonage and church completed, a room and
bathroom added to the parsonage and the tar paper roof replaced by asbestos.
New members have been added by baptism and by transfer. A new minister,

Josi Lais Rodriguez, has taken charge of the La Mesa congregation - freeing Jesds
Amaya to concentrate more on the Colonia Olivares work. To the early morning
devotions service has been added Sunday School for all ages, Sunday evening
services, mid week services and a ndd week service in the outlying area called
*Los Ladrilleras (The Brick Kiln), all are growing rapidly. Jesds and his
adorable wife Cuca became CaiANDPARENTSJ Their oldest daughter and her husband
presented them with a grandaughter in November. Father
baptized at Suimner Camp.

In February, Gerry and I participated in the 15th birthday ceremony for

the dau^ter of one of the many children who have lived with us since we have

been in Mexico.

What a joy to know this girl, now a housewife and mother of

three has established a Christian home for her family patterened after vAiat

according to her,

she learned living in our home.

In April we made a visit to my home town, Sayre, OK and a family reunion.

Not many Staples left, but we enjoyed the ones who were there.

Becky, Oziel and Ozielito (the Kid) visited ny mother. Granny Byrd. The

Kid calls her Granny BURT* after his favorite Sesame Street character. Ohey
had a lovely vacation and Granny got to know her greab-grand son $nd her grandson-in-law.

Veva didn't take a vacation in 1990. She taught English most of the year.
She is now teaching in three different schools, including two universities. She
teaches morning,

late afternoon and evenings.

Kathy, Dale and their children are in Costa Rica - all except Kathy
studying Spanish,

preparing Dale to become Director of Operations for the

Christian World Mission dn Chile. Hopefully in the early fall of 1991.

Bob and his family are well, all four youngsters and Berta.
Bob is in
the Idaho National Guard Tank Ikiit, He says "we are; packed up and read^ to
go to the desert, but we don't knowl" Please pray for him and all those in
the

desert conflict.

Our summer came early end stayed late (March - November), but then we
are not alone, about 65^ of the missionaries are serving in countries with
long hot summers.

Summer camp was small but a success B baptisms resulted.
