statement without prior written authorisation from the Engineer.
Contractor will be responsible for reviewing all services within each element of
Contract 1. Appropriate warning signs and goal posts to be placed either side of
services in close proximity.
Welfare unit will be on site for the duration of the works.
The Contractor will be directed to follow all relevant and specific requirements of
the scheme' s SEPA Licence, which will be referred to in the Works
Specification.
On contract award the Contractor will provide detailed method statements prior
to the construction work.
Note: There are no proposed in- channel works for this element of the works.

Contractor to prepare a detailed method statement for the proposed works for
erecting an RC Floodwall around the perimeter of the Bowling Green, which shall
include [ as a minimum] the following requirements:
Contractor to set up site preliminaries including offices /messes and site boundary
safety fencing around the bowling green, parts of the access road and parking
area. All appropriate access permissions to be acquired from affected landowners.
Contractor to conduct trial pits (hand dug) to confirm the locations of existing
services and take reasonable measures to protect services affected by the works.
Contractor will commence site clearance operations, this will include removal of
vegetation, garden furniture, garden path surfacing, slabs and the contents of
sheds either to be carefully stockpiled for re -use or disposed of in a licensed tip.
Contractor will commence demolition operations consisting primarily of
removing an existing brockwork boundary wall and two existing timber sheds.
The Contractor will adopt safe methods of working to ensure the existing wall
and sheds will not be prone to collapse during demolition operations. The
contractor will also have special measures in place as directed by SEPA
guidelines to prevent any demolition debris and other pollutants entering the
watercourse. This will include ensuring all construction plant and storage areas
will be set back from the watercourse and river banks.
Contractor will excavate foundations for the proposed flood wall. Foundations are
required for excavations. Where possible, existing turf t/opsoil will be stockpiled
and re -used.
Contractor will erect the proposed flood wall reinforcement, shuttering including
expansion joints, and cast concrete in -situ. All formwork will be checked for
leaks/ bleeding during pouring operations and any identified instances of grout
egress will be immediately plugged and cleaned away. The contractor will ensure
all surplus concrete /grout is transported away from the site and disposed of in a
licensed tip.
After the flood wall has cured sufficiently, the concrete set beneath existing
ground levels will be waterproofed with layers bituminous coating applied by
roller or brush. The wall will then be clad in brickwork. Material spills of
New sheds will be installed to replace the existing. The landscape and garden
paths /furniture etc will be restored.
The contractor will remove all trace of the preliminary items including temporary
fencing, messes and stores.

Contractor shall take cognizance of all overhead obstructions at, and on the
approaches to, the site within the detailed method statement.
Contractor shall provide measures for recording wind speeds during sheet pile
installation and include within the detailed method statement a procedure for
