Admission Information(2015 Spring Semester)


1. Qualifications
1) Graduated or is going to graduate from a bachelors or masters degree in Korea or a foreign
country
2) Language: Applicants should submit one of the following language test scores.
Korean: TOPIK 3th grade and higher
Below departments are required for TOPIK 4TH grade and higher
Dept. of Korean Language and Literature/Dept. of Creative Writing
Dept. of Humanities Education(Korean Language Education)
English: TOEFL PBT 550, TOEFL CBT 210, TOEFL IBT 80, IELTS 5.5, TEPS 550 and higher
(TOEIC and other English Scores are NOT accepted.)
3) Applicants whose parents are both foreigners or overseas Koreans who have completed the courses
that are equivalent to elementary, secondary, and college education in Korea

12. A Certificate of financial responsibility over USD 12,000(Applicants who reside in South Korea:

Applicants(D-4 Visa or D-10 holders) residing in South Korea should submit below documents
additionally.
13. A copy of Foreign Registration Card(front and back of Alien Registration Card):
* Visa should be valid until at least February 28, 2015
14. Academic Credetials confirmation letter and family certificate for 21 nationality-applicants

15. Housing contract(Foreign Registration card and housing contracts address should be the same)

3. Admission Procedure
Admission decisions are made by the admission committee through a comprehensive review of the
application

Documents submitted. We send Admission letter to only applicants who are admitted.

* Applicants will be excluded from the admissions evaluation process if documents are not
delivered by November 21, 2014.

* If applicants want to give up a course after getting acceptance letter, please, inform your advisor of your
abandonment by January 5, 2015.(Important)

4. Scholarship
1) 33%-of-tuition-fee remission is awarded to 15 excellent students among applicants.
(Students who receive this scholarship should maintain their GPA(Grade Point Average) 3.5 or better
during their study period in Chosun University. Valid for 4 semesters: 2 years)
2) 50%-of-tuition-fee remission is awarded to students who are selected as research assistants by their
advisor.
3) Some departments' applicants will be supported living expenses by advisor on a monthly basis.

Students need to pay admission fee only for the first semester, while tuition fee is for each semester
Scholarship for international students may vary according to the related rule

5. Dormitory
1) New students are allowed to live in university dormitory or can live outside.
* When you apply for Graduate School, you should choose your accommodation type carefully.

After decision, it will not be changed.


2) Dormitory fee is about 570,000 Korean Won per semester(4 months) to 770,000 Korean won per
semester(4 months). * Meal is not included.

6. Insurance & Medical check-up


New students should buy insurance policy when you arrive at Chosun University.
Also, new students should get a medical test at health center designated by Chosun University after you
arrive at Chosun University. Its mandatory.

9. Important Reminders:
1) Documents in non-Korean or non-English languages must be accompanied with certified
English
or Korean translations.
2) Regarding Request for Academic Credentials Verification(Attachment #6), there will be an
office in
your university which verifies your academic status. Please, get verification(including title
& signature)
from the office. Chosun University will check applicants academic status directly through
the e-mail .
* Applicants who is going to complete or completed Undergraduate Course or Master
Course from
Korean Universities, dont have to fill in Academic Credentials Verification.
3) All application documents will not be returned.
In case applicants should submit original diploma and transcript to Korean Embassy or
consulate in
your country to get a visa, submit attested photocopy of diploma and transcript to Chosun
University.
4) If any required documents are found to be false or counterfeit, admission will be revoked.
5) Applicants will be excluded from the admission evaluation process if any required
documents are not
submitted within application deadline.
6) Urgent Notices are sent out through e-mail. So, please inform us of your exact e-mail
address.
7) A choice of department Name & Course must be chosen carefully not to make errors.
Before you
choose, please, discuss your prospective advisor.
8) All admission documents must be submitted after approval of your prospective advisor.
9) Prospective advisors will issue and summit a certificate of financial responsibility on
behalf of
applicants if they promise to support applicants living costs and a part of tuition fee. If
so, you dont
have to submit the document called A Certificate of financial responsibility over USD 12,000.
10) We send Admission Letter to Only students who are accepted and do not notify
applicants who
are rejected. Admission documents will be sent to you on December 25, 2014 by EMS and
reached to
you no later than January 5, 2015.
11) There is no Application fee in 2015 Spring semester temporarily. .
12) Even if you are admitted to Graduate School, Chosun University, your admission may be
cancelled
in case you can not submit the documents which Korean Consulate or Embassy in your
country
may require and fail to get a student Visa.

15) Caution: If you want to withdraw your admission after getting admission letter, you
should inform
your advisor of your withdrawal by January 5, 2015. If you dont or are late to inform,
you cant
come to Korea even if you got admission from another Korean University and get student
Visa

because we notify Immigration Office and Korean consulate about your withdrawal. Even
if you come
to Korea, you will be an illegal alien and cannot study in Korea. So, please be careful not
to forget to
notify your advisor regarding your admission withdrawal by January 5, 2015. Also, after
you withdraw
your admission, you should dispose of all admission documents which Chosun University
sent for Visa
Issuance.
16) Housing Choice: If you select housing type: dormitory or living outside in application
form, you cannot change it after you arrive in Chosun University. So, making a deliberate
choice is required.
After 1 semester(4 months) stay in dormitory, you can move out if you want.
17) Regarding Privacy Information Agreement(Attachment #5), applicants should sign their
autograph.
18) If you are an prospective graduate, submit Certification of the expectant graduation with
your
transcript. If you dont have, submit an official letter issued by university authority. .

19) Below 21 nationality-applicants( currently residing in Korea) who have D-4
Holders(Korean Language course students) or other Visa Type except for D-2
holders should submit below 2 documents additionally.

Academic credentials Confirmation letter(or Stamp) on your final degree, such as


Bachelor degree or Master degree from Korean consuls Academic Credentials
Confirmation in the country of sojourn or his/her own countrys diplomatic and
consular offices stationed in Korea.
if you are going to graduate or graduate from Chosun University or other Korean
University, you dont have to submit to Academic credentials Confirmation letter.
2. Family Certificate(including Family members name and Each members date of
birth).
If Familiy Cetificate is not written by English or Korean, please translate it into
English or Korean additionally.
20) When you send your copy of passport, please check your Passport Name and Date of Birth
if it is
correct or not. Admission letter is written based on your passport. If there is something
wrong with your
passport, please change or update your passport before you apply for Graduate School.
21) In your transcript, if there is no GPA(Converted into a percentage), please submit a
Transcript
Summary(including GPA Calculation methods) additionally.
22) When you fill in your address, Postal Code Number and your phone number in Application
Form,
Please, pay close attention to filling your information(Especially, address and Phone) out.
We send Admission Documents based on application forms information by EMS.
Also, address should be one. If applicants want to receive admission letter by P.O. Box(Postoffice Box),

Just fill in your P.O. Box in the address section. Do not fill in your home address together to
prevent
confusion.

23) Chosun University does not discuss applicants regarding admission procedure,
documents arrival or
admission affairs by e-mail or phone for fast-document-screening.
