Configuration of Communication port

Before starting this setup configuration, make sure to establish an appropriate physical
connection between the repeater and the PC or laptop with a RS232 connector.
1. Right click on the icon of the Communication Server software, then click the configure
option.

2. A window will pop up. There, you will need to set the parameters as done in the following
picture and click on Ok. (COM1 is reference, you may have to look for the correct one
listed under Device Manager list of your notebook)

Configuration of Repeater using EMS software

1. Open the software with the following user and password
User: test
Password: wri
2. Right click on the blue left part of the window and select Add Repeater. Complete the
displayed window with the appropriate information. (repeater No and SIM (UIM)can be
anyone, the most important things are: Manufacter, Device Name (complete with the
name Test, Device Type and COM Link)

3. Right click on the Set Repeaters parameter option of the created device name (Test),
Click on ATT.

4. ATT parameter refers to the attenuation of gain. To change this configuration, click first on
the ATT tab. Mark the option Super Command, then click on Read to review the last
information saved. Modify the parameters at your will. Finish by clicking on Set.

5. To review the information provided by the repeater you need to right click on the device
and select the Query Repeater Parameter option. Then mark the Super command
option and click on Query to get the current information.

The above screen capture displays the data you can get from the repeater.

On-off setting of the BDA

1. To enable the on-off setting on the BDA first right click over the chosen BDA and select Set
Repeaters parameter option.

2. Click the On-off setting option, select your preference and click on Set

Troubleshooting
Monitor System
To configure the modem for the monitor to work you need to follow the steps described
on the Configuration of Communication port section of this guide. The only difference
you need to consider is:
1. Select the GSM SMS option and correspondend COM port, click on OK.
2. Select the correct modem type and then click on Modem Init. A succesful confirmation
message should pop up.

After setting the options described above, you should be able to access to the monitor system
software and query/poll/set parameters on the different BDAs. If not, please refer to the Error
sections below for guidance on solving each issue.

Error Operation: The mode does not run error message

This error might be caused by incorrect communication mode. Disconnect the device and close the
application. Start over again with the Configuration of Communication port section described at
the beginning of this document.
If this problem appers while operation the monitor system, take into consideration the additional
comments desribed on this Troubleshooting section (GSM SMS instead of COM Link and so on). By
starting the configuration all over again you are need to first force configuration to a diferent
modem type (850M for example) and try to initialize it. Then you can begin the configuration of th
communication port.
