This document deals with the process control per loop and the function of each
components in the process.

SEPARATOR TANK
Local Monitoring (Level and Pressure)

Large amount of vapor should not be permitted to enter steam line with pure
vapor, so to make sure that it will not happen level and pressure are monitored
locally. Level gauges (LG-VSS1102 and LG-VSS1103) are installed at the bridle
assembly to monitor the separator level, and a Pressure Indicator (PI) mounted
at the steam pressure nozzle is used to monitor the pressure inside the separator
tank.

Loop 1106 (Level Measurement and Monitoring)

The level in the separator tank can be automatically or manually controlled. Field
mounted capillary tubing level transmitters (LT-VSS1106A and LT-VSS1106B)
measures the level of the separator tank. LT-VSS1106A transmits the measured
value to a panel view indicator (LI-VSS1106A) for remote monitoring of separator
tank level; likewise LT-VSS1106B transmits its measured value to LI-VSS1106B

for remote monitoring of separator tank level.

Signals from LI-VSS1106A and LI-VSS1106B are both transmitted to a high
selector computer (LY-VSS1106), then high selector switch (LY-VSS1106) will
compute which signal is to be selected. Selected signal will be transmitted to
level indicating controllers (LIC-VSS1106 and LIC-VSS1104). Alarm will be
displayed in DCS/HMI (LADH-VSS1106) if there is a large different between
measured value of LI-VSS1106A and LI-VSS1106B.

Loop 1106 (Brine Flow Control)

To maintain the level of the separator tank at set point, LIC-VSS1106 controls
and remotely display the opening of LCV-PSS1212 for flow control of brine to hot
brine injection or to wells. Set point of the LIC-VSS1106 is monitored and can be

manually control or change through HIC-VSS1106.

To avoid the tank from reaching a very high alarming level when there is high
flow of feed in the separator tank and the flow at the brine cannot compensate it,
LIC-VSS1104 is use to control the flow of brine to the diffuser sump by controlling

the opening of valves LCV-VSS1105A and LCV-VSS1105B,

Set point of LIC-VSS1104 is monitored and manually controlled through DCS
(HIC-VSS1104).

Loop 1106 (Low Level Alarm Control)

Locally mounted level gauge (LG-VSS1106) is use to monitor if the level of tank
is low or very low. Thus, locally installed level switch low (LSL-VSS1106) and
level switch very low (LSLL-VSS1106) are installed for emergency tripping in
brine disposal pump. This switch is responsible for emergency closing of LCV-

PSS1212 when very low level alarm is triggered.

When triggered, LSL-VSS1106 transmits signal to HMI for activation of level
alarm low (LAL-VSS1106), then LAL-VSS1106 will disable the signal to actuator
valve switch (AVS-VSS1104), and links data to DCS (LAL-VSS1106) to display
and monitor the alarm in the DCS, and close LCV-PSS1212. When process
backs to normal condition, control of LCV-PSS1212 is return to LIC-VSS1106,

AVS-VSS1104 is re-activated, and pumps are reset from tripping.

When level reaches very low alarm, LSLL-VSS106 will be triggered to signal PLC
for enabling of level alarm very low (LALL-VSS1106), deactivation of AVS-

VSS1104, and trip all 3 brine disposal pumps (P-SS12 A,B, and C) and force

close the LCV-PSS1212.

Data from LALL-VSS1106 is linked to DCS (LALL-VSS1106) for alarm display
and monitor until the process goes back to normal condition, and tripping of
pumps are reset and LCV-PSS1212 is again controlled by LIC-VSS1106 and
activate AVS-VSS1104.

Loop 1104 (Level Measurement and Monitoring for High Level)

A field mounted level transmitter (LT-VSS1104A) is used to measure the level of

the process variable in the tank.

The measured value is transmitted to a PLC/HMI level indicator (LI-VSS1104A)

for remote monitoring of level.

Data from LI-VSS1104A is link to a DCS (LI-VSS1104A) for computer display and
monitoring, also this data is linked to another computer function (LY-VSS1104B)
for further computation, then display this data to DCS (LI-VSS1104B) to monitor
the level and display if the level is high (LAH-VSS1104B) or very high (LAHH-

VSS1104B).
Then the data from LAH-VSS1104B is linked to a logic OR function, that is link to
the interlock of diffuser sump valves (LCV-VSS105A and LCV-VSS1105B) to
open or close the valves.

Loop 1104 (High Level Alarm Control)

A level gauge (LG-VSS1104) is used to measure the level and monitor if it is

getting very high.

A level switch high (LSH-VSS1104) is installed to trigger the PLC level alarm high

(LAH-VSS1104) when level reaches high alarm or very high alarm.

The data of LAH-VSS1104 is linked to a DCS display (LAH-VSS1104) for
monitoring of level alarm high, also this data is link to logic OR function in which
either LAH-VSS1104 or LAH-VSS1104B is high, AVS-VSS1104 will be disable

and LCV-VSS1105A or LCV-VSS1105B will open to discharge brine to the

diffuser sump.
And when the level reaches a very high alarm another level switch very high
(LSHH-VSS1104) will be triggered to send signal to the PLC to trigger a level

alarm very high (LAHH-VSS1104).

The data from LAHH-VSS1104 is linked to a DCS display for monitoring of level
alarm very high (LAHH-VSS1104), also this data is linked to logic OR function in
which it is either LAHH-VSS1104 or LAHHVSS1104A is high, AVS-VSS1104 will
be deactivated and both diffuser sump valves will open until the process reaches
the normal condition. AVS-VSS1104 will be reactivated and the controls to the
diffuser valves are return to LIC-VSS1104 at normal condition.

Loop 1105A (LCV-VSS1105A Monitoring)

LCV-VSS1105A can be manually controlled (locally or remotely) via DCS or PLC.

A manual switch (HS-VSS1105A) determined whether the valve is locally

controlled or remotely controlled.

Then a panel view manual switch indicator (HSI-VSS1105A) indicates it manual
mode of control, and its data is linked to a DCS manual switch indicator (HSI-

VSS1105A) for remote monitoring.

For remote monitoring of the position of LCV-VSS1105A position transmitter (ZTVSS1105A) is used to measure its position, then measured position is sent to the
position transducer (ZY-VSS1105A) to linearize the signal and appear to the DCS
display position indicator (ZI-VSS1105A) as the actual % position of the valve.

Loop 1105B (LCV-VSS1105B Monitoring)

LCV-VSS1105B can be manually controlled, locally or remotely (via DCS/PLC).

A manual switch (HS-VSS1105B) determined whether the valve is locally

controlled or remotely controlled.

Then a panel view manual switch indicator (HSI-VSS1105B) indicates it manual
mode of control, and its data is linked to a DCS manual switch indicator (HSI-

VSS1105B) for remote monitoring.

For remote monitoring of the position of LCV-VSS1105B, position transmitter (ZTVSS1105B) is used, then measured position is sent to the position transducer
(ZY-VSS1105B) to linearize the signal and appear to the DCS display position
indicator (ZI-VSS1105B) as the actual % position of the valve.

Flow and Pressure Monitoring along Sump Pipe Line

A field mounted pressure indicating transmitter (PIT-PSS1304) is used to

measure and monitor the pressure along sump pipe line.

The measured value of the PIT-PSS1304 is sent to the panel view HMI pressure
indicator (PI-PSS1304) for remote monitoring of the pressure, which data is also

linked to a DCS display of pressure monitoring (PI-PSS1304).

Flow rate along sump pipe line is also measured by an orifice flow sensor (FEPSS1305), then send the signal to flow indicating transmitter (FIT-PSS1305) for
local monitoring. FIT-PSS1305 transmits the measured value to a panel view
HMI (FI-PSS1305) for remote monitoring of the flow and this signal is linked to a
DCS display of flow monitoring (FI-PSS1305).

Pump Control (Pressure & Level)

Pressure switch high (PSH-PSS1301) is installed along the sump pipe line to trip
the valve when there is a high pressure along the line. PSH-PSS1301 trigger the
pressure alarm high (PAH-PSS1301) and PAH-PSS1301 is displayed in a DCS
for monitoring upon stopping the pump in driving the brine to the cold brine
injection.

A field mounted level indicating transmitter (LIT-PSS1306) is use to measure the

sump level and at the same time to locally monitors it.

Then LIT-PSS1306 transmit signal to the panel mounted level indicating
controller (LIC-PSS1306) for remote monitoring of sump level (LAL or LAH) and

remote control of the pump.

LIC-PSS1306 can automatically stop the pump when sump level is low or run the

pump when level is high.

Also an operator can manually stop and start the pump from running through
DCS manual indicating controller (HIC-PSS1306), by which LIC-PSS1306 data is

link for remote monitoring and control of the pump (LI-PSS1306).

An HMI panel mounted event indicator (YI-PSS1302A) is use to monitor the state
of the pump (Run/Stop), and YI-PSS1302A is linked to DCS display of event (YIPSS1302B) for remote monitoring of pump state.

BRINE CONTROL
Pump P-PSS12A Control

Hot brine injection pump must be controlled and monitored efficiently, to avoid
destruction of the pump itself and to efficiently deliver the brine to the hot brine
injection and to the wells. All valves trip when there is a very low level alarm in

the separator tank when LSLL-VSS1406 is triggered.

A differential pressure indicating transmitter (dPIT-SS1-41) measures and locally
indicates the differential pressure in the strainer. The measured value is
transmitted to HMI panel view differential pressure indicator (dPI-SS1-41) for
remote monitoring of the differential pressure and then links the data to a DCS
display (dPI-SS1-41) to monitor if there is a differential pressure alarm high or
differential pressure alarm very high. Also the data is link to a logic OR function to
trip the pump when differential pressure at the strainer goes high.

LOOP 1206 (Pressure: MKB-VSS12)

The Pressure Indicating Controller (PIC-VSS1206) displays and controls the

steam pressure from HP Scrubber (MKB-VSS12) going to the rock muffler (MKBRSS11) depending on the selected value of Pressure Computer (PY-VSS1206A).
The obtained pressure is sent to Pressure Indicator (PI-VSS1206) for HMI and

DCS monitoring.
The Pressure P/I Transducer (PY-VSS1206B) converts the signal of Pressure
Indicating Controller (PIC-VPSA209) from pneumatic to electrical that will be
used by Low Selector (PY-VSS1206A). PY-VSS1206A selects the lowest setpoint
between PIC-VSS1206 and PIC-VPSA209 then, the signal will go to the 3-way
solenoid valve for split range control.

The Rotary and Butterfly Pressure Control Valves (PCV-VSS1206A) and (PCVVSS1206B) are in split range control wherein the PCV-VSS1206A allows the
steam to flow in order to reach 18-6 psi set point. When the pressure of steam
entering MKB-RSS11 is increasing beyond set point, PCV-VSS1206B will open to
compensate the increasing pressure, and if the pressure is decreasing beyond
set point, PCV-VSS1206B will be closed.

LOOP 1207 (Flow: MKB-VSS12)

The Pitot Tube Flow Sensor (FE-VSS1207) measures the flowrate of the steam
along the pipeline from HP Scrubber (MKB-VSS12) and sends the measured

flowrate to Flow Indicating Transmitter (FIT-VSS1207).

The Flow Indicating Transducer (FIY-VSS1207) indicates the flowrate through
HMI, and will alarm if the flowrate reaches above setpoint. FIY-VSS1207 links the
signal to Flow Indicating Recorder (FIR-VSS1207) which monitors and records
the data through DCS.

LOOP 1208 (Pressure: MKB-VSS12)

The Rupture Disk Pressure Safety Sensor (PSE-VSS1208) measures the

pressure along the pipeline from HP Scrubber (MKB-VSS12). When the pressure
exceeds the setpoint (180 PSIG) it allows the safety valve to release the excess
pressure.

LOOP 1202 (Pressure and Level: MKB-VSS12)

The Pressure Indicator (PI-VSS1202) indicates the pressure inside the HP

Scrubber (MKB-VSS12) while the Level Gauge (LG-VSS1202) displays the level
of the MKB-VSS12. Both instruments are locally mounted.

The Level Gauge (LG-VSS1203) locally displays the level of MKB-VSS12.

LOOP 1204 (Level: MKB-VSS12)

If Level Switch High (LSH-VSS1204) is triggered, it activates Level Alarm High

(LAH-VSS1204), and if the Level Switch Very High (LSHH-VSS1204) is
triggered, it activates Level Alarm Very High (LAHH-VSS1204) through HMI and
DCS. Any high alarm signal on this loop will disable the Analyzer Valve Switch
(AVS-VSS1204). AVS-VSS1204 sends signal to Analyzer Valve Indicator (AVI-

VSS1204) for DCS monitoring.

Hand Switch (HS-VSS1204) manually disables and enables AVS-VSS1204
through DCS.

LOOP 1201 (Level: MKB-VSS12)

The Level Indicating Transmitter (LIT-VSS1201A) is connected to the Level

Gauge (LG-VSS1202) through capillary tube in which it locally measures and
indicates the level, and transmits the signal to Level Indicator (LI- VSS1201A).
On the other hand, a Level Transmitter (LT-VSS1201B) is tapped to LG-VSS1202
which also measures the level of MKB-VSS12 and transmits the signal to level
Indicator (LI- VSS1201B). Both Level Indicators (LI- VSS1201A and LIVSS1201B) send signal to Level Computer (LY-VSS1201) for higher selection of
measured level. LY-VSS1201 selects the higher value of the measured level, and
sends signal to Level Indicating Controller (LIC-VSS1201) and Differential Level
Alarm High (LDAH-VSS1201). LDAH-VSS1201 will only alarm in DCS if the

difference between signals is greater than 5%.

Level Alarm Very High (LAHH-VSS1201), Hand Indicating Controller (HICVSS1201), and Level Alarm High (LAH-VSS1201) are linked to LIC-VSS1201.
When the level of MKB-VSS12 is critical, LIC-VSS1201 activates either LAH-

VSS1201 or LAHH-VSS1201 depending on the measured level. By using the

HIC-VSS1201, the setpoint can be manually set in LIC-VSS1204.

Critical alarms from loops L-1201 and L-1204 actuates the interlock to
manipulate Level Control Valve (LCV-VSS1201). The Level I/P Transducer (LYVSS1201) converts the signal of interlock from electrical to pneumatic that will be
used by the LCV-VSS1201. Likewise, the opening of the LCV-VSS1201 is

increased to control the level of MKB-VSS12 back to its setpoint.

Attached to LCV-VSS1201 is a Position Transmitter (ZT-VSS1201) which
measures the position of it. The obtained signal is sent to Position Indicator (ZIVSS1201) for HMI and DCS monitoring. A Hand Controller (HC-VSS1201) is
connected to the valve for manual control. Also, Hand Switch (HS-VSS1201) is
attached for local or remote control of LCV-VSS1201. The control mode selected
is sent to Hand Switch Indicator (HIS-VSS1201) for HMI and DCS monitoring.
