TEAM LEADER - The Ground Operations Officer or the Ground Search Coordinator
must verify the following of the Team Leader:
CAP member 18 years or older.
Current CAP Membership Card
Current CAPF 101 Card. If using an 101T, there must be a qualified team
leader present.
Current Red Cross Standard First Aid Card (or equivalent), Certified First
Responder, Emergency Medical Technician or higher qualification.
Possess CAPF 76, Radio Operator Permit
Current State Drivers License
Current CAPF 75, CAP Drivers License
All team members have signed with the Admin. Officer

TEAM MEMBERS - Ground Team Leader verifies information for each member:
Current CAP Membership Card
Current 101 card for Ground Team Member, If using an 101T, must be with a
qualified person
Current Red Cross Standard First Aid Card or Equivalent
CAPF 76, Radio Operators Permit Card
Seniors must have a current state drivers license.
Seniors must have current CAPF 75 (CAP Drivers License) to drive CAP
Vehicles

VEHICLES - Ground Team Leader will verify that all vehicles are or have.
Current State Registration
Current State Inspection (if required by state)
Completed CAPF 73, daily vehicle inspection form. Copy inspected by
Clearance Officer.
Vehicle marked for identification and visibility from the air
Seatbelts and headlights used during all vehicle operations.

GROUND TEAM BRIEFING - GT Leaders will receive briefing from G.O.D. or G.S.C.
Full Details of search on CAPF 102 (Combined SAR/DD Alert/General
Briefing Form).
Probable number and conditions of survivors
Expected terrain and weather
Best ground search patterns
Other agencies involved in search
Probable air coverage
Communications schedule - method, primary, alternate, air to ground, ground
to air, phone numbers of base, local sheriff, local police, other agencies. See
communication briefing form.
Probable method of recovery
Legal procedures regarding deceased victims and trespass
Reporting of vehicle accidents or personal injuries
Stress safety - obey all traffic laws, be alert when approaching isolated homes,
identification, use of safety equipment, dress for weather conditions
Procedures in the event of a find
Record keeping and mission logs.

PAPERWORK - Teams will complete the forms and, where indicated, give Gnd Ops a
copy.
Complete CAPF 102 Combined SAR and CD Alert/General Briefing form.
Complete CAPF 109 and additional briefing / debriefing form in duplicate.
One copy to remain with ground operations
Does the team have the communications briefing form?
Ground Team Inventory Form completed and on file with ground Ops?
Start the Ground Team Log. First entry is time of departure clearance.

SAFETY
Is the team properly equipped and supplied for this sortie? (See team
inventory list).
Verify that there are no medical conditions or problems with team members.
Ground Team Leader gives safety briefing to ground team before departure
(see safety briefing form)
DEPARTURE:

Team will conduct a radio check with communications before departure from
mission base
