1. REVISIONS
1.1. Rev 5, issued by Luca Mancinetti, 3/5/2007.
2. GENERAL
Guide for the positioning and grouting of the Cubogas to the foundation.
The drawings and the sketches are typical.
The foundation should be realized before as indicated in the DWP drawings.
3. DEFINITIONS
Cubogas: plant for compression including baseplate, electric motor, etc..
Anchor bolt: see Figure 5.
4. FOUNDATION PREPARING
Before pouring remove from the foundation any concrete that is deteriorated or not solid
and roughens the surfaces. Then, clean them of any trace of grease and clean the holes
for the anchor bolts. Saturate the foundation surfaces with water at least 12 hours before
pouring. Then, remove with compressed air the water which has not absorbed and that
witch remains within the anchor holes.

5. POSITIONING AND LEVELING THE CUBOGAS

Lift the Cubogas and, while it is suspended, insert the foundation bolts in their holes in the
machine baseplate. Leave them hanging, after screwing a nut on each of them, leaving
approx. 20 mm of threading for next possible adjustments (Figure 2-3).

fits into its hole.

Level the Cubogas with the register screws (Figure 4), leaving a gap of approx. 60100 mm between the foundation and the Cubogas. Check the leveling in a plane
area on the compressor, such as cylinders heads or frame.

6. PREPARING THE FORMWORK

Build a formwork all around the baseplate as indicated in Figure 5 and 6.
The dimensions of the formwork will be at least 100 mm greater of the baseplate.
For the side we want to perform the pouring, the distance from the side of the baseplate
should be at least 180 mm.
The formwork shall be sturdy, well anchored, sealed and sufficiently high to create a ledge
on the pouring side. In fact, to avoid outflow of pour, it is necessary eliminate gap of the
formwork components with silicon or any other proper material.

7. PREPARING THE MIXTURE OF THE SHRINKPROOF MORTAR

To obtain a mixture of fluid consistency, use about 3 litres of water per 25 Kg bag. Put in
the cement mixer water corresponding to the minimum quantity indicated; add the product
in a continuous flow, mix at least 5 minutes to obtain a well amalgamated mixture with no
lumps. After a few hours from completion of pouring and for about 24 hours, wet the
surfaces abundantly several times. Protect the pouring so that it does not dry too fast. For
major volumes to be filled and for pouring thicknesses over 5 cm, add washed gravel of 1
to 3 mm, up to 50% of the weight of the powered Ancorfix. For examples, add 7 to 12 Kg
of gravel to 25 Kg of Ancorfix.
The pouring can also be reinforced with irons round bars.
The temperature affects the setting time and thus the installation time. The ideal
temperature is 20C. For higher or lower temperature, setting will be either accelerated or
delayed. For very high temperatures, it is advisable to store the bags in a cool
environment and use cold water. For very low temperatures is advisable to heat the
baseplate or foundation of the machine. Store the bags in a worm atmosphere and use
hot water for mixing. It is also advisable to protect the pouring from heat and cold, as is
usually done with pouring of normal concrete.

8. POURING
Pouring is done starting from one side or from a corner so as not to encompass air.
Use the holes in the baseplate as vents for the air.
Pouring must be done in one single time. Push the pouring every point to fill up the space
below the baseplate with the aid of irons bars, chains or vibrators and check that there are
not air pockets in it. The height of the pouring should be as indicated in Figure 5. The
process must be done quickly and continuously.
If it is possible, stop any other machines nearby, because the vibrations might
compromise the adhesiveness of the pouring to the equipment.
9. FINAL OPERATIONS
When the civil works specialist considers that the concrete has the right consistency,
loosen the leveling screws.
Finally, tighten the foundation bolts, in the order indicated in Figure 7, checking that
neither the bolts nor the Cubogas have moved (due to poor anchoring).
