INTRODUCTION
WHAT IS JOB SATISFACTION?
The term job satisfaction was brought to limelight by Hoppock (1935). He
reviewed 32 studies on job satisfaction conducted prior to 1933 and observed that
job satisfaction is a combination of psychological, physiological and environmental
circumstances that cause a person to say, "I am satisfied with my job".
Job satisfaction can be defined as a person's emotional response to aspects of
work (such as pay, supervision, and benefits) or to the work itself. Basically job
satisfaction is an end store of feeling. Notice the word end. It emphasizes the fact
that the feeling is experienced after a task is accomplished or an activity has taken
place whether it is highly individualistic efforts of writing a book or a collective
endeavor of constructing a dam. These tasks/activities could be very minute or
large. They may be easily observable or could just be experienced. But in all cases,
they satisfy a certain need. The feeling could be positive or negative depending upon
whether need is satisfied or not and could be a function of the efforts of the
individual on one hand and on the other the situational opportunities available to
him.
Broadly speaking, "Job satisfaction is the result of various attitudes - in all
probability, activated by a worker's needs and their fulfillment (toward work) a
worker exhibits towards his job, towards related factors and towards life in general.
Several research studies, both in the West and in India have been conducted and
the results of their findings have lighted factors influencing employees' attitudes
and responsible for their job satisfaction or job dissatisfaction. Of these, the
more important and, better effective, job satisfaction' factors include :
Fundamentally, the satisfaction, which people experience in their jobs, is very
much related to motivation and performance, such as satisfaction of higher level
needs, fairness and justice, effort-reward linkage, etc.
According to studies conducted by Hoppock, the important factors that matter
in job satisfaction are :
FINANCIAL
It goes without saying that financial considerations - fair wages, do matter in
job satisfaction, but apart from that there are good many other things that influence
job satisfaction.

Job satisfaction (box 11) stems from performance and the accompanying rewards but
is influenced by the extent to which the individual perceives the rewards as equitable
(box 10). An arrow is drawn from box 11 back to boxes 1 and 2 because job
satisfaction or dissatisfaction affects need fulfillment, future goals, and ongoing
motivation.

Generally the level of job satisfaction seems to have some relation with
various aspects of work behaviour like absenteeism, adjustment, accidents and
productivity.
Job satisfaction & Absenteeism
In everyday life certain contingencies require a little extra effort of the
part of workers to came to work. A minor problem with bicycle, a drizzle, a small
tiff with spouse and several such incidents have a tremendous impact on the work
attendance. For a dissatisfied worker these may be major reasons for missing the
work but for a satisfied worker these may be relevant.
Job satisfaction and Adjustment
If the employee is facing problems in general adjustment, it is likely to
affect his work life. Although it is difficult to define adjustment most psychologists
and organizational behaviorist have been able to narrow it down to what they call
neuroticism and anxiety.
Adjustment problems usually show themselves in level of job
satisfaction. For long, both theorists and practitioners have been concerned with
Employees adjustment and have provided vocational guidance and training to them
to minimize it is compact on work behavior. Most literature in this area, generally
suggests a positive relationship between adjustment and job satisfaction. People
with lower level of anxiety and low neuroticism have been found to be more
satisfied with their jobs.

RESEARCH
METHODOLOGY
Research in common parlance refers to a search for knowledge. One can also
define research as a scientific and systematic search for pertinent information
on a specific topic.
The word research has been derived from French word Researcher means to
search.
FRANCIES RUMMER defined
Research: It is a careful inquiry or examination to discover new information
or relationship and to expand or verify existing knowledge.
Research is the solution of the problem, whether created or already generated.
When research is done, some new outcome comes, so that the problem
(created or generated) can be solved.
The research methodology devised in the study has been devised keeping in mind
the focused objectives and with the aim of acquiring accurate and authentic Data.
OBJECTIVES:
RESEARCH DESIGN:
A research design is an arrangement of conditions for collection and analysis of data
in a manner that aims to combine relevance to the research purpose with economy in
procedure. A good research design has the characteristics viz problem definition,
specific method of data collection and analysis, a research design is purely and
simply the frame work or planned for a study that guides the collection and analysis
of data.
SAMPLING TECHNIQUE:
All the respondents who were easily accessible and willing to share the information
were administered the structured questionnaire to get the desirable information. A
Convenience sampling technique was used.
SAMPLE SIZE:
The sample size for my study was taken to be 57.
SURVEY METHOD USED:
Survey method used by me for my study was Questionnaire

INDUSTRY PROFILE
The main purpose of research is to supplement the theoretical knowledge with
practical knowledge. This report also endeavor to assimilate and put towards all the
knowledge and experience that I have got during research conducted. The research is
going to play a very important role in developing self-confidence for my future. The
knowledge gained from the research is a lifetime experience that I will treasure
forever. It pave the way to know about the detailed overview of research.
In the context of development and maintenance of good human relations in
business industry, 'job satisfaction' sentimentally related to the feelings and
emotional aspects, as different from intellectual aspects and rational aspects of
individual's experience towards his job-primarily outcome of his attitudes, has been
reckoned, a thing that cuts across the whole field of human relations on-the-job.
This document aims at providing lecturers and management members with the
information that can be beneficial both personally and professionally. Every
educational institution has multiple objectives including of adequate profit for
payment of a reasonable rate of return to the owners and for investment in business
through satisfaction of customers, maintenance of a contented workforce and
creation of a public image. The basic job of management of any educational
institution is the effective utilization of available human resources, technological,
financial and physical resources for the achievement of the business objectives.
This project entitled as Job Satisfaction of Women Lecturers was done to find
out the factors which will satisfy the lecturers. The study undertakes various efforts
to analyze all of them in great details. The researcher in this project at the outset
gives the clear idea of the entire department existing in the educational institutions.
From the study, the researcher was able to find some of the important factors which
satisfy the employees. Factors like higher level needs, fairness and justice, effortreward linkage, financial incentives and non financial inventive, performance
appraisal system, good relationship with co-workers, promotional opportunities in
the present job, employee participation in decision making very much effect the
level of employee satisfaction. It is also clear from the study that the institutions are
so eager in satisfying their employees and their present effort for it is so far effective.
The human resources can play an important role in the realization of the objectives.
Employees work in the organization for the satisfaction of their needs. If the human
resources are not properly satisfied, the management will not be able to achieve the
desired results. Therefore, human resources should be managed with utmost care to
inspire, encourage, satisfy and impel them to contribute their maximum for the
achievement of the business objectives.

There are 137 members of faculty in total teaching all the 8 RIMT institutes. Out of
these 103 are female lecturers.
Industrial Training:
Students are placed for practical training in various establishments according
to their area of interest and specialization. Monitoring of training of students
in different industries is conducted by faculty members of respective
departments. Analysis of industrial training is carried out on the basis of
evaluation report received from the industries, matter content and presentation
of the training report submitted by the students and viva-voce conducted by
the expert committee, constituted, (discipline wise),for the purpose.
Counseling :
Individual counseling is provided to students for employment potential in
various industries / organizations including self employment, opportunity in
defence services and scope of higher education within the country and abroad
and apprenticeship scheme after their graduation.
Training and Placement Department is fully functional and proactive. The
department is geared up to provide its quality services not only in employment
to students during studies, but also their employability through well planned

Along with the multi-faceted campus to go with, a large number of IBM computer
systems and strong network with LAN facilities adds a different dimension to the

IBM Desktop, HP Thin Clients, Sun Rays Thin Clients and IBM, HP Laptops
machines.
3. Sports Gangsar-Jaito sports complex of SVGOI is surely something to talk about. The
Institution has facilities for a number of indoor and outdoor games like, Table
Tennis, Bad-Minton, Lawn Tennis, Basket Ball, Volley Ball etc. The institution
provides excellent facilities for all track events, well-designed fields and courts
along with separate gymnasiums for boys & girls. Existing facilities are being
continuously extended.

The campus is meticulously planned and is setup at 25 acres land with state of the art
buildings and infrastructure in the foot steps of Shivalik hills. The campus is having
1,00,000 sq. ft. covered area. The Campus divided into functional zones like Hostels,

Our current Earn while you learn program partners are:
through joint campus drives and job festivals conducted by CGC. CGC conducts
Udaan job festival at their Landran and Parvaaz job festival at their Gharuan
Campus every year wherein thousands of students register themselves and hundreds
of them get offer letters from various leading companies in their respective fields.
In addition to the job festivals CGC also conducts joint campus drive for Indian
Defense Services including Army, Navy and Air Force for their entry as per
University Entry Scheme every year. All the three Defense Services have been
coming to CGC every year for the past three years to select officers for their
respective cadres.
Ensuring almost 100% placement to its student can, perhaps, be regarded as the most
outstanding achievement of CGC year after year. The training and placement
activity starts the moment new students join CGC fraternity and finishes after

THE POINTS WHICH SHOW SATISFACTION OF WOMAN LECTURERS
TOWARDS THEIR JOB ARE:1. They are given enough authority to make the decisions they want to make.
2. There is a spirit of co-operation in their organization.
3. They enjoy cordial relationship with their colleagues.
4. The proper use of their knowledge & skills make their job interesting and
motivates them to do it well.
5. They enjoy a comfortable work environment along with proper space for
lunch & breaks.
6. They have an easy access to the resources they require to do their job.

8. There is no biasness made between the male & female colleagues, hence they

THE POINTS WHICH SHOW DISSATISFACTION OF WOMAN
LECTURERS TOWARDS THEIR JOB ARE:1. There is less flexibility in the working hours.
2. There is an improper connection between their pay & performance.
3. Incentives & bonuses are not given as per performance even if they deserve.
4. There are fewer opportunities for their advancement & growth in the
organization.
5. There is a fear of job insecurity
RECOMMENDATIONS
Efforts should be made on the part of management in understanding the
feelings of the lecturers so that the objectives of organization can be achieved
cooperatively.
o More opportunities should be provided to increase scope of job. i.e.,
lecturers should be given chance to 'Man' their own job.
o They should be given more participation in Decision Making.
o Scope should be increased to achieve aspirations and ambitions of the
lecturers.
o More flexibility and freedom should be there in job.
o There should be a positive connection between pay & performance.
o Deserving lecturers should be given incentives & bonuses as & when
required.
