COURSE CONTENTS

UNIT: I

(9 Hrs, 20 Marks)

Fundamentals of kinematics, Types of motion, degree of freedom, Grublers criterion,


mechanisms with lower pairs, hooks joint, steering gear mechanism, straight line mechanism,
Geneva mechanism ,Inversion of mechanism. Velocity analysis by ICR method, relative velocity
method. Acceleration analysis by relative acceleration method, Coriolis acceleration.
UNIT: II

Algebraic method of velocity & acceleration analysis.


Kleins construction.
Static force analysis.
Inertia force analysis of IC engine mechanism, geared system.
Dynamical equivalent system, compound pendulum, bifilar suspension & trifler
suspension method for inertia analysis.

UNIT: III

(9 Hrs, 20 Marks)

1) Velocity & acceleration analysis by complex algebra method.


2) Velocity & acceleration by vector algebra method. (Four bar & single slider mechanism
only)

UNIT: IV

(9 Hrs, 20 Marks)
