Abstract
The study aimed to find the relationship of self-regulated
learning

such

evaluation

as

and

self-motivation,

the

average

self-monitoring

grade

in

their

and

self-

contemporary

mathematics among the BSEd Math Majors students in Laguna

State Polytechnic University.
Specifically, this study sought the answers to the following
questions;

(1)

What is the mean perception of the respondents in self-

regulated learning mathematics in terms of Self-motivation, Self-monitoring,

and Self-evaluation?; ( 2 )

What is the profile of the respondents in

terms of age and gender?; ( 3 )

What is the performance of the

students in their contemporary mathematics?; ( 4 )

regulated

learning

such

as

self-motivation,

Are the self-

self-monitoring

and

self-

evaluation significantly related to students in their academic performance in

math?; and

(5)

Are the profiles of the respondents significantly related to

the academic performance of students in contemporary mathematics?

To

answer

the

problems

posited

on

this

study,

Self-

Regulated Learning and its relation to the academic performance

of students in mathematics among the BSEd Mathematics Majors

in Laguna State Polytechnic University, the data were gathered to
the statistical treatment and were subjected, simple descriptive
statistics which includes frequency distribution, mean, standard
deviation and percentage for the age, gender, grade and their
perception with regards to self-regulated learning.
To determine the relationship between the independent
variables

to

the

dependent

variable

Pearson

Product

Moment

Coefficient Correlation was utilized to test its significance at 0.05

level of significance.
The salient findings were;

( 1 ) it revealed that the most of the

respondents are sixteen to seventeen (16-17) years old with a

frequency of twenty-one (21) and occupied a percentage of thirty
nine percent (39%) of the whole sample. And, female dominates
the population among the fifty four (54) BSEd Mathematics Majors
college students in Laguna State Polytechnic University with a
frequency of thirty-nine (39) and a total percentage of seventytwo percent (72%);

(2)

Based on the result of the study, Self-

Regulated Learning affects the learning of the respondents in the

field of mathematics. Students self-motivation, self-monitoring

and self-evaluation got a verbal interpretation of strongly agree;

(3)

it also revealed that twenty-nine (29) and a percentage of

fifty-four percent (54%) out of fifty-four respondents (54) got a

remark of supreme . Meanwhile, students who have a frequency of
seventeen (17) and a percentage of thirty-two percent (32%) got
remarks of very good . While, two of the data have a frequency of
4 (4) and a percentage of seven percent (7%) out of one fiftyfour (54) have a remark of excellent and good;

(4 )

it was also

revealed that the that the profile of the respondents such as the
age and the gender has

no significant relationship

performance of the respondents in mathematics; and

in the

(5)

while

self regulated learning such as self-motivation, self-monitoring

and self-evaluation has also no significant relationship in the
performance of the respondents in mathematics.
Based on the findings of the study, the following conclusions
were drawn:

(1)

The hypothesis states Self-regulated learning such

as self-motivation, self-monitoring and self-evaluation do not significantly

related to students in their academic performance in math; and

( 2)

Hypothesis number 2 states that Profile of the respondents in terms of

age and gender do not significantly related to the academic performance of
students in contemporary mathematics. Thus, both hypotheses are fully
accepted.
