Risk assessments, types of risk assessment and how to do them
Risk controls, safe systems of work, personal protective equipment
Understanding responsibilitiesrequirements of the law, RIDDOR, health and
safety management systems
Common hazards in the workplace e.g. chemicals, workstations, working at
height, fire, noise, manual handling, stress, etc.
Identifying basic, underlying and root causes of accidents; reporting and
investigating accidents
Measuring performanceWhat it means, how to measure health and safety
performance, and auditing
Impact of industry, controlling waste and pollution and environmental
management systems

Assessment

Multiple choice exam at the end of day 4, and a risk assessment project to be
completed within 2 weeks of the end of the course
