to me
Greetings!
You’ve been selected to complete a short survey about our campus
health and recreation services. Many students have already voiced
their opinions. Please complete this important survey before Monday,
January 19. Your opinion truly does matter!

Because significant funding has been lost through state budget cuts,
campus health and recreation programs and services are threatened.
Almost all of our peer institutions are facing similar realities and are
currently charging a dedicated health and recreation fee to ensure
stabilized funding for the future. Your opinion about continuing health
and recreation services through a student fee is critical as we move
forward to identify support that will ensure the well being of all UA
students.

The survey will only take a few minutes, so please take it today! Once
you complete the survey, you may enter to win one of 5 iPod nanos.
Drawings will take place January 22, 2010.

The University of Arizona is proposing a student health and
recreation fee—between $80 to $160 per semester—to achieve
a stabilized funding source independent of state funding. A
student advisory committee will guide UA leadership to provide
transparency and accountability. Seventeen percent of this fee
will be set aside for student financial aid.
The goal of this student fee is to become self-sustaining, so
that the current level of high quality, low cost campus health
and recreation services are maintained and ultimately remain
uninterrupted regardless of state support. For comparison, the
UA’s peer institutions and PAC-10 schools assess an average
health and recreation fee of $168 per semester.
Two options are under consideration for implementation of this
fee: a flat, locked-in rate for 4 years, or a phased-in rate, which
increases over 4 semesters (2 years)
Question 7
How supportive are you of a $160/semester fee (locked-in for four years) to ensure
stabilized funding for low cost, high quality Campus Health and Recreation
services?
