Kohler.
On Sunday, April 19, the
Wisconsin Brass Quintet will

On Sunday, June 14, harpist
Katherine Ray will perform at

Both concerts are open to the

Founded in 1972, the Wisconsin Brass Quintet is a faculty ensemble-in-residence at
the University of WisconsinMadison School of Music.
With extensive performances
throughout the Midwest and
nationally including appearances at New Yorks Carnegie

Jacqueline E. Jackie Hamel, 1933-2015 Kohler Credit Union, continued from page 1
Jackie, 81, peacefully entered
eternal life on February 26, 2015.
If you knew Jackie youve probably heard her say, dont drink
water, it rusts your pipes. If you
were a kid fighting with your siblings, shed tell you that someday
youll travel hundreds of miles just
to see each other. If you were mad
at someone shed suggest you
walk a mile in their moccasins
before judging them. If someone
wronged you Jackie would say that
every dirty dog gets his day.
Her beverage of choice was McDonalds coffee. Every day after
walking at the mall and stopping at
McDonalds to socialize, she
brought coffee to the pastor and
secretary at her church.
Her generosity was boundless;
never was she happier than when
she could give or do something for
others. She loved taking her grandchildren to Walmart, or to
Bethesda Thrift Shop where she
volunteered, and going to Gibbsville Cheese Factory to pick up
gifts to distribute. She regularly
visited nursing homes, and gave
rides to elderly friends who didnt
drive.
Jackie indulged her sweet tooth
regularly, and kept a considerable
stock on hand for visitors. Her
house was a veritable kids candy
land which her grandchildren especially appreciated. Among the
staples were Skittles, all kinds of
cookies, chocolate, ice cream, and
Nutty Buddies.
She grew up on a dairy farm in
Michigan, had simple tastes, and
never shied away from hard work
or procrastinated. She liked most
everyone she met, and could strike
up a conversation with anyone,
even in sign language. Her favorite
people included her family, her
friends at Bemis and at church,
neighbors, the entire staff at Trinity
Nursing Home, and those who
worked at Parkview Restaurant. If
a server there said he didnt like
liver, shed have him sit down in
her booth and eat a few bites with
her.
Jackie is survived by her children and grandchildren, whose pictures she eagerly shared with
anyone who had a few minutes to
spare: Her son Michael (wife Julie,
children Emily, John, Bethel, Levi,
and Mercy); Vicki (children
Alexandra and Nicholas); Cindy
(husband Jim, children Jackie,
Matthew, James, Mary and Chris-

their policy regarding accessibility to the building
after school hours. This
will affect our use of the
front doors on Sundays.
Please be aware that you
will have to enter the library from our side entrance near the playground.
The village will make every
effort to clear and salt the
path.
2015:YEAR OF PRESIDENTS at the KPL
This year the library is challenging the Village of Kohler
residents to learn about our
US Presidents! Stop in for a
check list and a reading rec-

ommendation sheet. Prizes

will be awarded at the end of
the year to readers who stick
with the challenge.
HISTORIC PHOTO
PROJECT
We are very lucky to have in
our library a rich collection
of historic photos dating
back to the 1920s. Unfortunately they are not organized or labeled with dates or
names.
We would like to fix this
problem but we need your
help. If you can make it in
to the library, we can have
you look through some
photos and hopefully put
some names with the faces.
If you cant make it in, we
can certainly make copies
for you (about 24 at a time)
and deliver them to you.
The library has earned a
grant that will allow us to
digitalize our collection. If
you have historic photos
that you are willing to share
with us, please contact Erin
to set up a time to bring
them in. They will be
scanned and returned to
you immediately.
LEGO CLUB

The library hosts Lego club

every Thursday at 3:30.
The First and Third Thursdays, kids in grades 5 and
up are invited to participate. The second and
fourth Thursdays, all ages
are welcome. If you child is
under the age of 10, a parent must accompany them.
KNIT CLUB
We meet the second Tuesday of every month at 6:30.
Please join us for an
evening where we work on
our projects and share our
skills and lots of laughs.
Everyone is welcome. Crocheters welcome!

where
he/she
will

Kohler Athletic
Booster Club Chili
Cook-Off a Success!
The mission of the Kohler Athletic
Booster Club Chili Cook-Off was accomplished at its first attempt to bring
chili connoisseurs and basketball fans
together on February 26, 2015 and a
chance for coaches to win money for
their team.
Each chili entry was vastly different
and provided a colorful and tasty experience for those who dared to taste.
The recipe receiving the most votes
from fans belonged to the coaches representing high school girls volleyball:
Kelly Cole, Marty Harms and Kirk

Wittwer. A check for $200 was presented at half-time of the basketball

game.
Other chili entries were prepared by
high school girls basketball coach Matt
Bayens, high school boys tennis
coaches Jon Cole and John Reinertsen,
middle school girls basketball coach
Bridgitt Zielke, and Doug Bocchini
representing all Kohler sports.
Thank you to the coaches for the
chili entries and to the fans for sampling!
