Most at some stage of their lives will begin to use the internet which is a colossal
network of computers from all over the world that is connected by cable and satellite. Through
the internet, users are able to view websites, check their emails, downloading and so on. I will
be going over the two different opinions on if the internet brings more advantages than
disadvantages. I will also be giving my opinion at the end, along with the conclusion.
Internet has become one of the most powerful communication tools for people to
interconnect throughout the world.

Internet can make you to communicate in a fraction of

second with a person who is sitting in the other part of the continental. The internet has brought
about a multifarious and innovative means of communication. For instance, we can use the
Internet to send an email, chatting, video conferencing, Internet Telephony such as Skype and
so on. The utmost advantage of this phenomenal creation is that it is easy to understand and
indeed very simple to use.
In my point of view also, Internet is also important in offering a wide range of information,
knowledge and data. The Internet is a virtual treasure trove of information. Any kind of
information on any topic is easily accessible on the Internet. The search engines on the
Internet can help us to find data on any subjects that is needed. Students and youngsters are
among the top users who are surfing the Internet for doing their research since nowadays all of
the information can be found easily on the Internet. Essentially, technology has made the
communication much cheaper and quicker.
Knowing that Internet has many advantages, unfortunately it may also become a
stumbling block to our society. Based in my opinion, the disadvantages when using the Internet
is that your personal information is not securely kept. In fact, when you are surfing the web,
downloading the software or even chatting with your friends, a virus, named Trojan, could be
sent to your computer without you realising it. The virus will steal all the information that you
have saved and send it to the sender without your consent. This person may make use of it or
give it to somebody else. For instance, if you are using the Internet to shop online, your credit
card number could be stolen, and then the money in your bank account probably will be used
up.
Besides that, excessive usage of internet can lead to addiction to the Internet. This is
one of the disadvantages also. Based on Jennifer R. Ferris, internet addiction is a true
psychological disorder with definable symptoms. Among the remarkable symptoms are
withdrawal, loss of relationships and significant time consumption. Besides that, being lonely,

depressed, introverted, lacking of self-esteem or having a history of addiction is most vulnerable
to Internet addiction via social networking such as Facebook and Twitter.
As my opinion about this topic, internet actually brings more advantages to us. As it can
be seen through nowadays, internet plays an important role to develop our country because we
are now living in this era of technology. This is because internet can help us to compete with
other developing countries in the global arena. In a nutshell, the Internet has been a blessing to
many for bringing education, connectivity and entertainment across the borders of ethnicity,
politics, and nationality. Since the Internet is so universal, a case can be made to the Internet for
being the greatest invention which coincidentally can bring about undesirable effects when
misused of it.
