AIM:
The aim of this movie review is to portray the harsh and hard-hitting questions of religious
fundamentalism and flawed legal investigations. It also explains the demerits of TADA
(Terrorists and Disruptive Activities Act) and how under this act on mere suspicion people
were branded as Terrorists.
RESEARCH METHODOLOGY:
When conducting research there are often two researches being used, namely inductive and
deductive. The deductive approach is fundamentally based on imperial evidence, and goes
from observations to findings and end up with theory building. The inductive approach is
often used in relation with qualitative re-search, and is seen as flexible and allows for changes
throughout the research process.
The research has been carried out primarily with the help of a comprehensive literature
survey of available commentaries, texts, journals, reports, case-laws and online database. The
research methodology is primarily doctrinal in nature.
DURATION:
SUMMARY:
The movie is a story of a lawyer Shahid Azmi who was shot in his office in Mumbai. He was
a criminal lawyer who was murdered for defending a 26/11 accused.
In the aftermath of the 1992 riots, like many others, Shahid too leaves Mumbai and joins a
terrorist training camp in Kashmir. But he soon comes back home as he realizes that this is
not what he wants to do or can do. Once he is back, he is harassed by the police, tortured by
them. After spending seven years in Delhi's Tihar Jail, Shahid is let out as the police cannot
prove his involvement in any terrorist activities. Shahid's mission now is to help all those
innocent who are behind bars but have no money to hire a lawyer and prove their innocence.
