THANK YOU, TEACHER

A TRIBUTE TO MY MENTOR!

It is 6th January 2009 - my first day in Secondary One. I am excited to start a

new school year. My mom dropped me off at the front gate. As I waved good
bye, she drove off. Suddenly my mind flashed back to my first day in Primary
One when I was so scared as I didn't know anyone in school. My mom left me
with my teacher and went off. Then I cried and cried. But that was 6 years ago.
All thanks to Puan Asmawati, Puan Syarifah, Puan Usha, Cikgu Razman, Cikgu
Shahar, Cik Roslina Puan Syakirah, Puan Hasniza and others, I have now grown
up to be mature and confident young teenager.

Teachers, I want to thank you for the confidence you instilled in me to make me
be brave. I was very shy initially but you made me talk in front of the class which
was so embarrassing for me. You always asked me to do some work which
involved talking to another teacher. As time went by, I became more
comfortable speaking in public especially approaching teachers, even though
some of them were strict.

Thank you, teacher for encouraging me to read more books. I was having
difficulties in writing my essays but then one day you advised me to read more
books so that I would have a lot of ideas in my head. I tried to read books little by
little and my essay writing has slowly become interesting without me realizing it.

Now during my free time, I sit on the couch and read. I now can read 4 books in a
month.

I want to thank you for tireless effort you have put in to teach me till I understand
what is taught. I remember back then when I didnt understand a word and I
asked you for the meaning of it, you patiently explained it to me and I still didnt
understand. Then you asked me to write down all the difficult words that I was not
familiar with and look them up the meaning in the dictionary and list them in a
book. I did it. You also asked me to read the words again and again to remember
the words and know the meanings. Thanks to you I now have a collection of
words and vocabulary which I can use in my essays.

Thank you, teacher for teaching me to play netball. I recall how one day I was in
class and suddenly you appeared and asked the teacher permission to pick
some of the girls who were tall and could play netball. I was excited and wanted
to join in. Luckily you chose me and my friends and we started training under
your supervision. After 3 long incredible years, you have taught me tricks and
tips when playing netball and my team went to the district level and we won the
3rd place. I was also chosen to represent the state. It was a remarkable
experience in my life which I will cherish forever.

Today as I walk through the gate of SMK Sri Aman, I am excited to start a new
school year and meet new friends. I look forward to having good results and
actually participating in upcoming school activities especially netball. I will work
hard to be an excellent student and a valuable player in the school team. To all
the teachers who have taught me, I thank you for your tireless effort to make me
and others better persons to serve this country and the world.
I dedicate this essay to all the teachers who educate us and love us!
