Chapter
Maintenance Overview
This chapter contains the following topics:
Performance analysis
Plugging/unplugging of modules
Unplug and then plug the defective modules and external
interface connectors. This resolves the fault caused by the
poor contacts.
Isolation
Isolate the part of the defective board from the other
relevant boards or racks. This helps to find out that if the
fault is due to the interaction between them.
Self-test
Run the self-test after powering on. The LEDs on the panel flash
in a certain pattern. Examine the board based on LED pattern.

Module Power
Check
Module power check comes after the main power check. For
module power check, perform the following steps:
1. Turn ON the power switch on the top of BTS.
2. Turn ON the circuit breakers of every module on the PDM.
The sequence of turning on the circuit breakers should be
from top to bottom, according to position of modules in the
cabinet.
3. Observe the power indicators on the modules, if they are not
in normal state then troubleshoot immediately.
4. If any of the modules goes to rest position repeatedly, check
the board plug-in condition and its input voltage. Also, check
whether the chip is inserted correctly and chip model, saved
content, and version are correct

Board Replacement
Board Replacement Overview
The replacement of defective modules and parts is a common
and very important method used during routine maintenance.
During module replacement, it is recommended to contact the
relevant technicians or ZTE local maintenance staff for technical
support and guidance.
The following principles should be considered necessary during
the replacement of modules and parts:
Store undamaged spare parts in antistatic bags (moistureproof bags are recommended). Sort the spare parts in
cartons and label the cartons for easy identification.
Wear an antistatic wrist strap while plugging and unplugging
any module. Connect the antistatic wrist strap to the
grounding terminal of the rack. Do not touch the grounding
terminal after the connection.
ii. Align the module with the backplane and then insert the
module slightly to avoid bending the pins or slots on the
backplane or module.
iii. Tighten the fixing screws on the module after inserting
the module.
