1 Indroduction
1.1 Gateway Features
KraftCom HotelNet Control Gateway CGH-1000 is an all-purpose gateway for public Internet
access. The CGH1000 allows you to provide, manage and account public Internet use in entire
buildings like hotels, hospitals, etc.
Internet connections can be managed (remotely) and billed per time.
Use Vouchers or a PMS port of the hotel-front-office software for AAA (Authentification,
Authorization, Accounting). The optional ticket printer KraftCom zGW-BON provides vouchers easy
and comfortable.
Use any media like electrical, coax, phone wires, Ethernet cabling and Wireless LAN to distribute
Internet within the building. The CGH1000 provides special features to configure and monitor
KraftCom PowerLine and CoaxLine hardware. Set up and administration of a network using existing
power, coax and/ or phone wires has never been easier.
Some
A data network using existing electrical or coax wires will hereinafter be referred to as a
HomePlug net.
PowerLine and CoaxLine modems used to build up a HomePlug net therefore will be termed
as HomePlug adapters.

13
4.3 Network
Changes within the network settings normally need a network restart to be enabled. If you want to
restart the user network click on Restart Network.
It is recommend, to finish all network settings then restart the network.
Information about your local Internet connection, modem/ router and/ or your local Intranet will
be needed below. For questions please contact your local Internet Service Provider or network
administrator.
4.3.1 Network: General
Hostname: should be ONE word without special characters, e.g. the name of the hotel
Default Gateway: IP address of the Internet gateway for the CGH1000, e.g. the Internet
router of the hotel
Nameserver: IP address of the DNS servers for the CGH1000, e.g. the Internet router of
the hotel or public DNS server
The Default Gateway and Nameserver arrays should not be blank even if WAN (LAN1) Mode is set
to LAN-DHCP or PPPoE. In this case just leave the default settings, considering: The default
gateways IP has to be in the same IP range than the WAN (LAN1) ports.
14
4.3.2 Network: WAN (LAN1)
All required information has to be given by your local Internet Service Provider or network
administrator.
Modes for WAN (LAN1) port:
LAN
CGH1000 is getting Internet access via Local Area Network (e.g. Intranet of the hotel).
CGH1000 needs an appropriate, static IP address and default gateway. CGH1000 is acting
as a router with NAT at WAN port.
LAN/DHCP
CGH1000 is also getting Internet access via Local Area Network (e.g. Intranet of the hotel).
CGH1000 obtains an IP address and default gateway automatically. CGH1000 is acting as a
router with NAT at WAN port.
PPPoE
CGH1000 is connected to an Internet modem that uses the PPPoE protocol. Set Username
and password (given by your Internet Service Provider). Set a corresponding IP address.
CGH1000 is acting as a router with NAT at WAN port.
PPTP
CGH1000 is connected to an Internet using the PPTP protocol. Set Username and password
as well as the IP address of the PPTP server. Set a corresponding IP address. CGH1000 is
acting as a router with NAT at WAN port.
LAN/Bridge
For special applications only. Do not use this option.
15
4.3.3 Network: ADM (LAN2)
Change this settings only if necessary. Inaccurate settings will prohibit access to the
CGH1000. In this case try to connect to WAN (LAN1) of the CGH1000 to enter the
Administrator Interface.
The ADM port (LAN2/eth1) is used to connect an AdminPC (connection via crossover cable or
switch) or to connect a hotel Intranet (e.g. OfficePCs).
Internet access via ADM (LAN2) port is not restricted at all.
For safety reasons no routing between LAN2 and LAN3 (user/guest network) is possible.
AdminPC/Intranet and guest network are separated.
Change IP address and netmask, only if you want to change default settings.
You can run a DHCP server at the ADM (LAN2) port to assign IP address(es) automatically to the
AdminPC or hotel Intranet. Set the start and the number of IP addresses to by assigned.
4.3.4 Network: LAN (LAN3)
The LAN (LAN3/eth2) port is connected to the user/ guest network.
For safety reasons the Administrator Interface is not accessible over LAN3.
Change IP address and netmask, only if you want to change default settings.
16
Number of subnets:
The number of leases/subnets is equal to the number of concurrent users.
Activate login:
activated: The user automatically gets a Login page. Essential for AAA (Authentification,
Authorization and especially Accounting)..
not activated: No Login page is shown. The user gets immediate Internet access. (e.g.
useful for free of charge service)

Select a Status Poll Method:
Discovery:
The CGH1000 is searching for all available HomePlug adapters after the next reboot. Not
available adapters (=offline) will no longer be shown.
Known Adapter:
The CGH1000 will ascertain the status of all known adapters (whether available or not).
New added adapters will not be discovered. Therefore not available adapters will not be
discarded after the next reboot (but marked as offline).
Status Poll Interface: determines the interface(s) for the Status Poll Method
(=determines the interface(s) to search for HomePlug adapters)
Number of broadcast requests: A higher number of requests enhances the quality of screening
(especially under bad conditions). On the other hand requests of course lower the performance of
the network.
Status Poll Interval: time between two status polls (consider: using more than one Status Poll
Interface will multiply the time the same adapter is screened).
VLAN: to separate individual HomePlug net (e.g. to raise performance)
A VLAN capable switch is mandatory for this feature.
Administration of the HomePlug adapters:
All reachable feeders are displayed. The information whether an adapter is used as feeder or client
is not stored by the gateway. This information is provided by the Status Poll monitoring and
therefore remains up to date.
Unreachable Adapters:
All HomePlug adapters that are listed in the gateways database but could not been associated with
a feeder since the last reboot.
Apply:
Apply settings.
Delete:
Delete one or more adapter(s) from the list (database): Select adapter(s) and click on Delete.
Head Password: changes the net password NEK of the feeder (just the feeder)
Note: The net password NEK of every KraftCom HomePlug adapter can also be changed by
using the software tool provided with the adapter. For further Information, please refer to
the documentation of the HomePlug adapter.
Select (tick) the chosen feeder. Enter the Device Password DEK of the chosen feeder. The
individual DEK is printed on the back of each adapter.
Click on Head password.
Set Password page appears:
Set a new NEK or choose one of
Used NEKs and click on
Set Password.
18
Net Password: changes the net password NEK of the feeder and its associated clients
Change the NEK of a whole group (1 feeder + max 15 clients) of HomePlug adapters:
Click on Details to display the associated clients of the chosen feeder. Make sure every individual
Device Password DEK is set. The individual DEK is printed on the back of each adapter. Without the
DEK registered the Net Password NEK of the adapter cannot be changed.
Having finished, choose Back to get back to Settings page.
Select (tick) the chosen feeder, enter the DEK and click on Net Password.
Reset Counters:
Resets ping statistic data.
Transfer Counter:
Copies ping statistic data to a local PC.
Add:
Choose Add to add a new adapter manually to the gateways database. Set MAC address, name
(not mandatory but useful) and DEK. Do not add an adapter that is already existing in the
database. You can add an adapter manually before connecting it to the HomePlug net.
Having added one or more adapter(s), click on Back to get back to the settings page.
Discovery:
The button Discovery is only shown in Status Poll Mode Discovery. Click on Discovery to add
new adapter(s) automatically to the gateways database. The new adapter(s) must have been
detected per Status Poll first. Therefore they have to be successfully connected to the HomePlug
net.
19
4.3.6 Network: FixIP
Devices can be integrated with a static IP address, e.g. WLAN APs, switches or surf terminals.
Delete:
Select (tick) a device and click on Delete.
