o
Hello everyone, Bkstunt here with a walkthrough for Tactics Ogre: Let Us
Cling Together! The reason I took on this challenge was my love for Quest
and Yasumi Matsuno, and the work that has been accomplished by this team
(such as Ogre Battle and Final Fantasy Tactics). With Final Fantasy Tactics
being my all-time favorite game, I just HAD to do this.
Astute gamers know that this game is actually a re-release. The original game
came out in Japan in 1995... that's a long time ago! Wikipedia states that the
game saw a North American release on the PlayStation in 1998, but I for one
never played that game, so this re-release is a god-send.
Gamers will also recognize that this game is "Chapter VII". So, does that
mean you should be playing chapters I-VI first!? Nope! In reality, the Ogre

Battle series has only ever released three chapters, chapters V-VII.
Chapter V was the SNES game Ogre Battle: March of the Black Queen. Chapter
VI was the Nintendo 64 game Ogre Battle 64: Person of Lordly Caliber. The
developer, Quest, was bought out and absorbed by Square / Square Enix and
team members worked on their products like Vagrant Story, Final Fantasy
Tactics, and Final Fantasy XII. Square Enix still holds the rights to the
Ogre Battle series though, so all we can do is hope that this game's
re-release may spur Square Enix into developing more Ogre Battle games.
As with all of my guides, please feel free to CONTRIBUTE. Know something I
don't? Shoot me an email! It may very well help EVERYONE out!
I hope you enjoy the guide!

o
The Valerian Isles, jewels of the Obero Sea. Long a center of naval commerce,
the people here have struggled throughout history for dominion over these
shores.
Finally there rose a man to put an end to this conflict. His name: Dorgalua
Oberyth. But history would know him as the Dynast-King.
Dorgalua took the disparate races of men calling the islands home and united
them as one. For fully half a century he reigned, and Valeria knew prosperity.
But upon his death, three clans rose to claim Valeria for themselves: the
aristocratic Bakram, the teeming Galgastani, and the few but hardy Walister.
Valeria was once again in the grip of a great blood war.
The Bakram and the Galgastani quickly divided Valeria between themselves,
and an uneasy quiet has since settled over the isles. Yet none believe the
calm will last.

||\\||\\ \|____________________________________________________________/
||__// /

o
Understanding the area you fight in is important, and can often provide an
edge in battle. This section will tell you about a few things that can help
you in regards to the map.
First of all, let's talk about the terrain. Specifically, 'Ground Types'.
Each tile you stand on is a certain ground type, which is important as each
different ground type has both a 'Melee Accuracy Modifier' and a 'Ranged
Accuracy Modifier'. Here's what they do:
Melee Accuracy Modifier:
Terrain effect on melee attacks. Affects ACCURACY when attacking and
AVOIDANCE when defending.
Ranged Accuracy Modifier:
Terrain effect on ranged attacks. Affects ACCURACY when attacking and
AVOIDANCE when defending.

So as you can see, picking WHERE you stand can be very important. ALWAYS aim
for the highest accuracy modifiers available.
Ok, let's talk about 'Elevation' and 'Map Coordinates' now. Elevation is
simple: how HIGH are you! It's well known that having the "high ground" is a
military advantage. This holds true in Tactics Ogre as well, especially for
Archers and ranged attacks. When you're on a higher elevation you will find
that your range will be increased.
Map Coordinates are important as well, as I'll use them a lot in the guide.
Take a look at the chart below:

|_________________________________________|

You may wonder what all these numbers mean. Well, each map in Tactics Ogre is
composed of tiles. In order to TELL you where enemies are (as well as allies
and buried treasure) I'll need an efficient way to point out WHICH tile you
should check out. This map does the trick. Anyone with basic math skills will
know about coordinates. This map has an 'X' axis and a 'Y' axis. For example,
if I said that "You can find a buried treasure on I-08" you would go down the
alphabet line until you found 'I' and then right until you found '08'. Easy
as pie!
(-NOTE-) Originally, this guide was going to feature an elevation map for EACH
map in the game. However, the maps are FAR too big for this. However,
it is VERY important to remember how to read maps. Just remember the
'X' axis starts at 'A' and the 'Y' axis starts at '00'.
It's also worth pointing out that many characters can only move up or
down a certain difference in elevation. Flying units don't have that problem.

||__//||// /|/
o=============)|-------------------------------------------( Leveling Up /
||\\||\\ \|____________________________________________________________/
||__// /

Knowing how the level-up system works is SO important that it deserves its
own section!
Tactics Ogre is different than other tactical RPG's out there. First of all,
you do not gain experience for every action you do like other tactical games
(Final Fantasy Tactics, for example). Instead, every JOB CLASS that took part
in the battle will gain experience.
Once you finish a battle, you will gain a total POOL of experience points
depending on how many units you killed. This pool will then be divided up
between your job classes.
For example, let's say that you gained 600 XP during a fight and your battle
party consisted of 1 Warrior, 1 Knight, 1 Archer, 1 Cleric and 1 Wizard. Well,
each one of those classes would gain 120 XP each. What if you have 2 Warriors,
1 Knight, 1 Archer and 1 Cleric? Well, the warriors would gain 240 XP while
the other classes gain 120 XP each. Of course, don't expect to see such nice
round numbers, but the point is that putting out more of a certain class will
make that class level up faster.
This system also affects new recruits. For example, you WARRIOR CLASS will,
lets say, level up to level five. Well, suppose you went to a shop and hired a
new warrior. HE would start out as a LEVEL FIVE WARRIOR.
As for skill points, those ARE given out to individuals. They are given out
the same way as experience points though, as a POOL of skill points at the end
of a fight. They are then divided up between all of the individuals who took
place in the battle. GUESTS also get a portion of these points by the way.

o
This section will provide you many useful pointers about a variety of
gameplay subjects. For the most part the in-game tutorial does a FANTASTIC
job of explaining the game. I highly recommend you read through it. Heck,
even the manual has a variety of tips. I will be highlighting the most
important things here but I'll be assuming you have gone through the
in-game tutorial and know the very basics of battle.
'Tis best to be prepared, fellow strategist...
_____________

BATTLE TIPS
_____________

o Probably the most IMPORTANT TIP and thing to remember is the CHARIOT
TAROT (L1)! Using this ability during a fight allows you to GO BACKWARDS

IN TIME to a previous turn order. This lets you re-do a portion of the
battle and can erase horrible mistakes.
o Focus your fire! Try to gang-up on a single enemy unit to take them down
fast. It may be playing dirty, but it's effective. This tactic helps to
give you a numerical advantage over the enemy early, which can make all
the difference.
o Pay attention to predicted outcomes! Every action you do will have a
forecasted outcome BEFORE you do it. Take heed of this.
______________

GENERAL TIPS
______________

o It's important to select a WELL-ROUNDED battle party. Having a party filled

with wizards is asking for a quick death. Do your best to strike a balance
between front-line units and back-line support.

It is an age of war.
The wheel begins to turn...
Chosen child, what is your name?
You will now be prompted to name your character. I just go with the default
name, Denam. That is the name this guide will use.
When were you born?
You'll then be asked for you date of birth, so enter it in.
After that, you will be given a series of Tarot Card questions to answer,
five in total. Depending on your answers you will be given certain stat
increases. Below is the initial questions and answers, along with the stat
increases for each answer.
You'll see the stat increases displayed like this:

A character named Vyce will come into a house, telling Denam and his sister
Catiua that Lancelot has indeed returned (meaning of course that you are going
to try and kill him). Catiua is much more gentle, not only doubting that you
can take on the Dark Knight but wondering what it will gain! Vyce explains
that it would weaken Bakram, leading to making the Galgastani attack the
Bakram so they can have Valeria for their own (obviously our heroes are from
the Walister clan).
After the dialog, your first battle will start!

Go ahead and move wherever you wish and end your turn. There isn't anything
you can do here anyway. Soon Vyce will launch an attack on Canopus (which he
will block easily), prompting Lanselot to ask who you are.
Vyse will accuse him of being the Dark Knight that torched the town a winter
past, leading Lanselot to point out that he comes from New Xenobia from the
East (Confirmed by your sister, as the Dark Knight Lanselot has only one eye).

The group of "mercenaries" will then introduce themselves. A choice is upon

you!
1. You must forgive our error.
2. Stay on your guard, sister.
Be courteous and choose 1, then lead the guests to your house to talk.
You'll further learn of how the Dark Knights started working with Bakram,
and of the ruler of Lodis, High Priest Sardian.
After learning that the group is banished from Xenobia, Denam will state that
their first priority is rescuing Duke Ronwey (the Walisterian leader) out of
Almorica. Upon hearing that he is a Duke, Canopus will hope to help out for
pay, eventually leading to another choice:
1. I would.
2. There is no need.
No matter what you choose, you will take on all five of these characters as
guests, so do what you will. You sister will then point out the danger, not
wanting to lose her brother (since you are alone together in the world).
[Lanselot and his allies have joined you as GUESTS.]
You will now get some more tutorial messages and be dropped off at the WORLD
MAP. From here you may save your data and access the many menu options,
including party information and the Warren Report. The appendices section of
this guide includes a LOT of this information, but the Warren Report itself
is a FANTASTIC addition to the game: it not only has a ton of info but also
lets you go back and re-view cutscenes and sums up the plot for you.

lame I think, but oh well.

Well, here we are, battle #2! You have a whopping SEVEN allies in this fight
as you face a total of SIX enemies. Once again, the only unit you can control
in this fight is Denam, as the AI controls everyone else, and once again I
doubt that you could actually LOSE. Your guests will take care of this battle
easily.
Since all you have to do is kill the Berserker, who along with the Warriors
will charge into battle, you will likely find the match ending before everyone
is dead (the archers and wizard will likely survive). Catiua and the Knights
will handle healing duties. In fact, the only thing you really do is gather up
the loot and grab the buried treasure.
The is really just another tutorial battle, since every time one of the guest
units move they'll dispense pieces of wisdom to you. May as well soak them up
now.

This battle is VERY similar to the previous one in that you once again only
control Denam. The enemy is FAR outmatched once more as your guests are much
stronger and have healing going for them, so do your best to help out however
you can.
Once again you likely won't kill the archers or the enchantress by the time
the knight Agares dies. He holds up longer than the berserker, but not long
enough to properly milk the map for experience and skill points. Oh well, our
time will come soon.
Watch the cutscenes afterwards as Warren and Lanselot try to persuade the
newly-freed duke that they are un-associated with New Xenobia. Those of us
that have played Ogre Battle: March of the Black Queen know the truth though!
The duke will hire them on as trainers at the castle while he asks you and
Vyce to serve as his knights.
You will now have to pick a name for your group. The default name is
'Stormscale', which is what I will use. "The Order of Stormscale" isn't THAT
bad. The duke will tell you of your next assignment and will give you 30,000
goth and send you on your way. Lanselot and company will wish you luck as well
before leaving. You'll also chat with another knight in the duke's service,
Dame Ravness.
After all of the scenes, you will be given FIVE new squad-mates for the new
Stormscale Order. You'll be given a Warrior, an Archer, a Wizard, a Cleric,
and a Rune Fencer. I suspect that each character is generated randomly, but
it's a nice smattering of units.
You'll also be out on the world map once more. We have new Warren Report
additions to view, and the game will also tell you about shopping, as well as
explain new options that have opened up to you. Hooray!
Now is a great time to visit shops and check out your party through the party
menu on the world map. You can also hire party members as well. I'd recommend
spending some skill points on Vyce/Denam/Catiua (you can't go wrong with extra
skill slots) and checking out the jewelry/magic at the shops. Once you are
done head to Tynemouth Hill.

B A T T L E ! ~

Our first battle where we control more than a single character! Although
this is another one of those fights that would be almost impossible to lose
since it is NINE versus SIX, and we have the extremely strong Canopus on our
side.
While it may be hard to lose, it is EASY to lose a unit if you are not being
careful. You want to keep your casters BACK. Keep your archer and rune fencer
back as well and let the warriors come to you. While Catiua and your cleric
and heal someone up fast, getting one of your mages hit 2-3 times WILL kill
them. Focus on one at a time (Canopus will help immensely) to divide and

conquer.
During the battle you'll learn about the Chariot Tarot command. Basically,
your entire battle is being recorded. If something happens that you just can't
live with (like a unit going down), you can go BACKWARDS in time and re-do a
unit's turn to change the outcome.
Be sure to kill everyone before going after the wizard to maximize your
experience and skill point gain.
(-NOTE-) I did not write down my XP gain after the battle. If you want to
email it to me I'd appreciate it. I'll play this again sooner or
later though.
After the battle you'll be told that this map is now an OPTIONAL BATTLE AREA,
meaning that you can fight out random battles here in the future. You'll also
have Canopus officially join your order. You'd be crazy to refuse him, as he
can fly and has a great melee and ranged attack.
(-NOTE-) You have also unlocked the MUSIC BOX feature in the Warren Report.
Fans of the OST will GREATLY appreciate this. In fact, you unlock
more music as you play the game and the developers, arrangers, and
composers COMMENT on the tracks. How fantastic is that!?

Post-Battle Preperation
_________________________

(-NOTE-) These "Post-Battle Preperation" sections will help you out in

UPCOMING battles. Not all upcoming battles are NECESSARY fights
though, so keep that in mind and reference the fights ahead to
see what you want to do.
I will add that getting your cleric up to LEVEL 3 before the next battle is
helpful. That way you can buy and use Grimoire Exorcisme. I realize you may
not know what that means, but the next map has undead units. When you "kill"
them they don't die... they'll just resurrect after 3 turns. But if you
exorcise them with that spell I mentioned you'll find the next fight a lot
easier. It would also help a ton if you teach 1-2 extra characters the DIVINE
MAGIC skill and buy them healing magic. You can also make your wizard useful
by buying him fire magic (and training him to use it) as dark magic does not
work on the undead.

B A T T L E ! ~

Oh man, what crappy weather to have a battle in! As I mentioned earlier,

you'll face your first undead units in this map! They don't "die", but just
end up resurrecting to FULL health in 3 turns.
If you gained even a single level before going into this fight and bought
your clerics some exorcism spells you'll actually be able to defeat the undead
units, which turns them into tarot cards and/or equipment bags. You must cast
the exorcism spell when they are in a defeat state though!
So with that in mind, send your warriors to clog up the area between the
houses and take out the humans when they come. Let your backup divine magic
users (for me Canopus, Rune Fencer) do any healing while your cleric saves up
the MP to exorcise the undead. Send Canopus out to kill off the wizard to the
left as well, as its magic is annoying. Hang back by the housed until you
undoubtedly have the upper hand before pushing forwards. Catiua and Donnalto
will also help out a ton. Heck, if you're lucky you can even have Catiua
exorcise the undead.
Be VERY careful of approaching the Necromancer. He can use Word of Pain for
60+ damage and between him and the Enchantress they can down a unit in a
hurry, especially Vyce since he tends to rush into trouble (you can't lose
him however). Be careful and keep your health up and you'll be ok.
After the fight you'll rendevous with Sir Leonar for a cutscene. Well, he
may have lost men but at least he's ok. We also know the Necromancer Nybeth
is nearby in a place called Qadriga Fortress.
Also, after the battle, you will have the chance to recruit Donnalto (Abuna
Donnalto to you!), the bowmaid Sara, and the knight Voltare. You may as well
take them all, as your army is growing and free equipment (at the very least)
is always welcome.

Going back to Almorica Castle will continue the story-line and open up the
map (and shops) further. The battle below is OPTIONAL, and you would be wise
to at least head to Almorica Castle for the SHOP UPGRADE and to level up to
around level 5-6 before taking it on. Exorcise will of course serve you well.
Also, try to teach multiple units Heal if you haven't already, as well as get
1-2 Archers the skill "Tremendous Shot" and Great Bows.

Upon arriving at Qadriga Fortress, you will be greeted by Nybeth. He will

offer you a deal, asking you to let him go free as he really just wants to
continue his experiments. After his proposal you have a choice:
1. Surrender, and I will not harm you.
2. To the darkness with you!
Of course he will refuse to surrender, so whatever you choose matters little
as you'll still fight. Nybeth will then summon up a host of undead units for
you to battle with!
This battle is, frankly, ROUGH. What makes it REALLY rough is that Nybeth has
the spell "Summon Darkness" which can call forth new undead allies, which he
will start to use once you kill off his old units.
First off, have two clerics entire battle purpose set to exorcise units as
you kill them (count on Catiua prioritizing healing). Hang back in the start
area as the Valkyrie and Warriors come for you so you can gang up on them
easily. From here you will HAVE to start to ascend the fort, as the archers
and wizards aren't about to come down to you.
If you took my advice earlier and have several units with HEAL abilities,
this task is manageable as you will often be unable to do anything with your
knights and rune fencer, so you can heal up as you progress.
Your main offensive weapons here (besides Denam) will be archers with the
lovely Tremendous Shot ability. Slap that skill on BEFORE shooting to take
out a wizard in a single shot. Your other weapon is Canopus, who will tow the
line nicely with his handy flying ability and ranged threat. Be sure to use
his skills too when you can to one-hit KO any unit.
The fact that Nybeth can freely summon in new, fresh units is a testament to
the fruitlessness of NOT targeting him. While you COULD farm units here if
you wished, the enemy will soon turtle up in the northwest corner, so at some
point in the battle you'll have to dedicate to killing Nybeth. Tremendous Shot
and either of Canopus' two skills work wonders here.
So in summary, watch your every move and beware of Nybeth's magic. Combined
with a one or two of his wizards he can polish off just about anyone. This may
be the very first battle that you'll abuse the Chariot Tarot on, and no one
would blame you for it!
If you fight long enough, Nybeth and Donnalto will have an interesting talk
about God and Necromancy. At the end of the fight Nybeth will also have some
more dialog before runni..er, flying off.
Congrats on winning a hard fight.

Once again we are fighting a Berserker leader, and like a true Berserker
Brezen refuses to back down, even killing one of his own units to make the
point.
That unit WAS right though, you do outnumber this enemy by one unit (even if
three of your units can't be controlled by you). If you took the time to level
up and play through (and win) Qadriga Fortress, this battle will be trivial to
you. However, the idea behind your starting gambit should be to divide and
conquer. This particular battle is ideal for that in fact, given that the
enemy is split up into three groups.
Sometime during your first turn, the AI MENU TUTORIAL will pop up, Basically,
you can now assign AI BEHAVIORS to units such as 'Melee' or 'Vanguard' (or you
can control them yourself, like you've been doing, with 'Manual'). After the
tutorial screen goes away, Brezen and Denam will exchange words before the
battle resumes again.
It is likely Vyce will charge to the north, so send up Denam and maybe even
a slow-moving knight up with him and support them with a cleric. These units
can handily hold the front line to the north and hold up the units up there.
Meanwhile, Canopus and other range and/or faster units (like a Rune Fencer
with some archers or wizards) should focus on eliminating the units to your
left. They will likely fall fast. Have them rejoin the north units after that.
Keep your HP up as the cleric up north LOVES to fill up the wizard and
enchantress's MP up manually. Canopus can make this battle infinitely easier
by using a finishing tough to one hit KO one of the mages. Skills like Mighty
Impact and Tremendous Shot can also wreck decimation here.
Keep your HP up and focus on one unit at a time to finish off this battle
with a victory.

Uh-oh, looks like trouble. A knight named Bolis is out to kill a warrior,
and he's got plenty of help. Leomar will point out that the warrior is not
with OUR liberation group, and must be a separate faction, which leads to a
choice for us:
1. Whoever she is, we can't just leave her.
2. We have more important battles to fight.
(-NOTE-) If you choose 1, you will HAVE to protect the new GUEST character,
Cistina. Is she dies, it is game over. With that info, you will want
to get a HEALER over to her FAST. A rune fencer with heal makes a
great choice. If you choose 2 you won't have to protect her... its
entirely optional. If she dies, no game over.
Choose what you will (I choose choice number 1) and the battle will start
in earnest. With your units grouped together in the east, you will literally
explode towards the west. The Earth Dragon will efficiently hold you up, but
you should be able to take out the Berserker and Beast Tamer easily. If you
are out to save the guest Valkyrie, be sure to put Canopus in harms way ASAP
and have him distract the Archers and Wizard.

Once the Valkyrie is healed, keep tabs on her. Use your melee units to take
out the human units and use magic to effectively deal with the Earth Dragon.
It has a nasty tail whip ability that can deal 80-90 damage easily on a soft
target, so be weary. Leave the Knight for last so you can max out your skill
points and experience and you should be good to go.
After the fight, you will talk to Cistina in a house. You'll find out she
is from the Liberation Front with the Bakram, who support the late king.
Leonar will say their methods are wrong, to which she will say the rumors
are lies. You will be asked WHY you fight:
1. To secure a future for the Walister.
2. For Peace.
(-NOTE-) Choose 1 for the "Freedom Fighter" title. Choose 2 for the "Peace
Seeker" title. See below.
Choose what you will and Sir Leonar will send the scout away.

As you arrive at the castle, you'll be greeted by a Dark Knight named

Baixephon. What a name! Soon you will be in a meeting room with the famous
Dark Knight Lanselot (Knight of Lodis, anyone!?). Lanselot will tell you that
Abuna Brantyn really doesn't care about the Wallister's struggle against
the Galgastani, and they will remain neutral. Better than having to fight
against them for now, I suppose.
Lanselot will comment about how young Denam and Vyce are, leading to the
revelation that we are the "Heroes of Golyat". This of course leads to Catiua
mentioning Lanselot's attack there, which leads to a conversation option:
1. Not now, sister.
2. We were fools to treat with our enemy.
Choose your option and Lanselot will recall the night. A mistake, indeed!
For what its worth Lanselot offers his apology on the mistake. Sir Leonar will
then rush the party out of the fortress.
Head back to Almorica Castle where the duke will ask you to leave for
Balmamusa at once. The place is merely a camp for Wallister to work in squalor
and the Duke means to incite a revolt. Sir Leonar will follow up with weapons
while we are to incite the riot, with Dame Ravness at our side.
[Dame Ravness has joined you as a GUEST.]

There are three new locations on the map now: Lake Bordu, Xeod Moors, and
of course Balmamusa. Time to head to the first one: Lake Bordu. Try to head
there and you will see a scene between Lanselot (the Holy Knight) and Denam.
Very touching...
(-NOTE-) There is a new upgrade to the shops. Consider purchasing the new
LONG BOW items for your archers, especially for the next battle.

This is a fairly straight-forward fight... it's just big! You have a lot of
people to control and a lot of foes to face. Note how many archers they have!
They have the right idea, given that this is a swampland, but it still isn't
too hard to get around (just stay out of the lake).
The two armies will clash in the middle, tangling your Knights up with their
Berserkers and Warriors. You know the drill by now: focus on one unit and
utterly devastate it. It's a good idea to try and commit some of your ranged
units (like Canopus and any longbow-equipped archers) to take out some of the
enemies softer targets. Especially their Wizard and Enchantress. There is a
reason to target them as the land tends to bunch your units together and the
enemy magic users will take that as a chance to cast STUN or POISON on groups
of units.
As always, leave the leader for last and use your ranged units and Canopus
to track down any enemies who try to distance themselves. A fairly easy fight
overall.

As you enter the battlefield, a lone beastmaster will spot you coming.
However, he is not truly alone and will call out his two pet gryphon's. That
still wouldn't be a fair fight though, so 9 more units of various job types
will come out. NOW we have ourselves a real battle!
Despite what the "WIN" announcement says, this battle WILL inn if you beat
either Ganpp OR either of his pet Gryphon's (he REALLY loves his pets). This
makes getting the MAX amount of EXP and SKILL POINTS a challenge... you're
going to have to ignore the Gryphons and Ganpp until the end. This also means
that winning is that much easier, but getting the max EXP should be your goal.
If this is your goal you're going to want to send fast units like Canopus
down to the Wizard, Cleric, and Enchantress ASAP. Vyce will stroll down the

right side of the screen so send an archer and wizard down with him to quickly
kill opponents that way. The middle of the area, like most maps that are like
a marsh, will become a battleground for your knights who will lock up against
the beast tamers and gryphons.
Trying to kill every opponent EXCEPT the ones you need to is challenging.
Be especially careful of the gryphon's NUMBING HOOK ability as they can
really put a hurting on your softer targets like your clerics.
Do your best to kill everyone you can, but if things get tight aim for
seriously wounding or killing the beast tamer or one of the gryphons to end
the battle.

Well, I guess instead of leading a subtle rebellion we're going to brawl

first. Sounds like fun either way. The weather will be HORRID and so your
archers (and theirs) will get a accuracy decrease.
However you vastly outnumber them, eight to twelve. And since HALF of their
forces are archers and the weather is so bad you'll be doing even better!
This is honestly a cake-walk of a fight. Send out magic users and combined
with your knights and other units you will wipe the floor with their pathetic
warriors and archers.
After the fight Denam will suggest gathering up a
to be their heralds. After that you'll see a scene
poorly, to convince the people to leave their life
WHY he's talking to a bunch of older Walister, but
and pull Denam outside.

small amount of people

where Vyce is trying,
of slavery. I don't know
soon Leonar will come in

Watch the scene and listen to what Sir Leonar will ask you to do! The choice
isn't so cut and dry though, as a backscene plays where the Duke explains his
reasoning to Leonar. This all comes to a head with the following choice:
1. I understand.
2. Stop this lunacy!
This is obviously a very important decision. For the purpose of this guide
(or to be more specific: since I can only do one thing at a time) I am going
to choose "Stop this lunacy!". This choice will start you on the CHAOTIC
path while the first choice puts you on the LAWFUL PATH. This guide will get
to both paths eventually, but for now we're going CHAOTIC.
Once you do, Leonar will make a swipe at you and cause you to fall backwards.
Ravness, Vyce, and Catiua will come out of the house now. Words will be said
and lines will be drawn, Ravness and your sister throwing in their lot with
you while Vyce has clearly been waiting for such an opportunity. THIS is the
reason we play these game, is it not fellow gamers!?
After the lines are drawn several "Fake Galgastani" will appear and spew
their nonsense and will attack with the goal of killing all the Walister in
the town. A new battle will start now, but you'll be given a chance to save
and like the game suggest, I would save in a new slot. And of course, Ravness
and Vyce will both no longer be guests...

Well, it's still stormy out and we're at the bottom of the map this time.
The enemy has a lot more variety this time as well. It will be slow going
to get up to the middle of the map and the path is rather linear and tends
to clump units together. Thankfully, Canopus serves a vital role in this
battle. Send him up as far as you can and draw down the Knight, Berserker,
and Warrior front-line units down into the map, where you can kill them off
while the rest of the enemy tries to get in range (divide and conquer).
The enemy Archers will only hit you about half of the time, but the
Enchantress will go on a poisoning spree, which is actually super effective
since our units will likely be clumped together (keep that in mind and try
not to fall into the super-easy situation of clumping enemies together). The
enemy Valkyrie and Rune Fencer will arrive shortly to provide magic and
bolster their front lines, but you should have put a hurting on the units
Canopus lured down. Keep healed and focus on one enemy at a time and you'll
be ok.
After the battle you will be finished with Chapter 1. Congrats!

At the start of Chapter 2, Ravness will sum up what happened in Balmamusa

and what it did to the country. As the Duke predicted, the event brought the
Walister together and split the Galgastani on a morale ground. It was without
a doubt a brilliant political move.
As for Denam though, he will have moved north to the town of Asyton where a
scene will ensue and show him being depressed about being unable to stop the
slaughter of his countrymen. He is resolute in his belief to see this war
through, though. Canopus will come in and announce that Denam, who is the
Balmamusa scapegoat, is up to a 30,000 Goth bounty. Canopus will give the
depressed youngster valuable world advice before saying Lancelot (his comrade
from Xenobia) is situated near Tynemouth Hill and we should rejoin him as it
is the ideal place to break through the advancing Walister line. Try to leave
somewhere to enter the first battle of Chapter 2.

B A T T L E ! ~

Well, it looks like our first act of the new Chapter is to leave our head on
our neck! The leader's brother was killed in the massacre and has hunted us to
Asyton, but instead of giving Denam a chance to speak has attacked!
At a brief glance you can tell the enemy has a solid front-line with their
Knights and Warriors and follow that up with a few Archers in the back. Note
that they also have a Cleric and some of their units are winged as well. It
may be raining, but not horribly so giving the enemy Archers with their higher
ground somewhat of an advantage. The weather will also clear up as the fight
goes on.
Go up the middle with your tougher units, but take some units up the right
hand side as well (split them up a bit). Canopus should make use of the roof
tops and will likely draw over and tie up some vartan units. The main thing
to remember in this fight is to keep your soft units out of harms way. You
need to be careful of this especially later in the fight as Arycelle can use

a finishing move and outright kill them if they have even a scratch on them,
but you can easily use your clerics and even mages (with indirect spells) by
keeping them behind houses.
Kill everyone but save Arycelle for last. You should also get some dialog in
with her with not only Denam, but Canopus and Donnalto as well (she seems to
know Donnalto in fact, saying Leonar told her he was dead). At the end of the
fight she will be spared by Denam and teleport off.

Now here is a unique map. Obviously we want to stay out of the water as it
provides no protection or enhancement of any kind, but we're also facing some
Octopi, who are at home in water. They have some potent attacks and a nice
chunk of HP. You'll also face a Terror Knight here.
Put your Knights forwards and claim the walkway in front of you to tie up the
advancing Octopus and melee units. From here you want to focus on the two
Octupi first (they are by far the biggest threats especially to your squishy
units). Magic attacks are by far your best way to attack them. Meteor Strike
and Spiritsurge (Catiua CAN help out here) are great. Your archers can help
out from the back ranks as well with their range.
Put your Knights and Denam out front to soak up the damage while you take
care of the enemies melee units and Octopi. The enemy Knight will attempt to
heal but it is too little to be anything more than an annoyance. Save the
leader for last and send Canopus after the Archers and Wizard to maximize your
EXP and Skill Points in this battle. After several turns Canopus will also
have a quick chat with Xapan about mercenary work. Xapan can use Berserk to
attack everyone around him, so also be careful about grouping up when you are
fighting him (a Knight to keep him in place is helpful). Once you wear him
down he'll run off with his tale between his legs.

Well, what do we have here? A bunch of Gargastani soldiers about to take

down Arycelle, the archer that plagued us not two fights ago. Denam isn't
about to let them though, and will charge everyone with protecting her.
Despite this, it is NOT game over if she falls, but our goal is to protect
her nonetheless.
To do so, send out your divine healing Rune Fencer and Canopus up towards
her while not attacking and march up your Knights as well. The Clay Golem
enemies are utter tanks, and should be handled by your magically inclined
units to bring them down fast! Archers can go up the left or right side to
lend ranged support (I had an archer take out the rouge on the right side
and sent another on the left).
The enemy Knight may use Phalanx and if she does you should avoid her and
kill the other human units. After a few turns your knights will be close
enough to Arycelle to keep her alive. As the fight goes on she will have a
chat with Denam and agree that FOR NOW, they should work together to survive.
You can't learn the truth if you're dead after all! From that point on she

will act like a guest and will aim for softer units like the Familiar and
the Archers.
As long as you bring along a couple of mages to take care of the Clay Golems
you should do ok in this battle. Leave Vance for last and ignore the Knight if
she uses Phalanx and above all keep Arycelle healed and you'll be ok.
After the battle, Arycelle will agree to join you as she requires proof of
what Denam claims.
[Arycelle has joined you as a GUEST.]
You can also now use the CRAFT command from the shop menu list. Crafting
items requires a recipe and an ingredient. The 'On Medicine I' item that we
obtained after the battle is one such recipe. Check the crafting section of
the guide for more info (you obviously need more recipes).
(-NOTE-) The stores have undergone another inventory upgrade. Of special note
is a TON of special recipes for sale as well as ninja tools and
other exotic items.

B A T T L E ! ~

Well, this is a fun fight. You'll face your first Ninja in this battle, and
boy can he lay into you. Let's examine him a bit. He has two 1-handed katana's
equipped and can attack you with each one for 50-70 damage PER hit. He also
has a finishing move and some ranged ninjutsu attacks. He can damn near kill
any of your softer units, so be EXTREMELY careful. You will also face a Dragon
and an Octopus in this battle, who can also put up big numbers if they want
and act as HP sponges.
Now, since the leader IS the Ninja we have a problem... to max our EXP and
skill we have to ignore him. Also, we have to watch his health as Catiua and
Arycelle can outright kill him if their turns line up and they decide to, so
it is a good idea to have plenty of healing to go around in this battle.
Focus on the dragon and octopus while the rest of the enemy squad catches up
to the battle. Magic attacks REALLY help out here of course. Once you have
taken the HP sponges down the berserkers and warrior will likely be upon you.
You can send Canopus/winged units to terrorize the enemies back-line if you
wish but your main goal should be protecting your units from the ninja (using
status ailments such as weighted help).
Once you DO win the battle you will gain Ninja Mark items, which of course
let you change your units into Ninjas. Don't go overboard though, you want to
be able to win fights after all and a bunch of level 1 Ninjas can't do that at
this stage.

B A T T L E ! ~

Watch the scenes at the start of the battle. Our old buddy Vyce was here
and the Xenobians are nowhere to be found. Plus, Vyce will convince Arycelle
of the truth FOR us, which saves us some time I'm sure. Be on your guard, the
battle will soon start!
This battle contains three new units you likely haven't encountered before:
an Assassin (Vyce), a Flame Dragon and a Dragoon. Vyce is the leader of course
so we're going to want to save him for last. He's got two daggers, double
attck (which you saw with the ninja), sneak attack (which costs 40 TP and lets
him deal more damage from behind), Deathproof (which protects him from a whole
host of status effects) and Counterattack II. Damn, he got strong! The Dragon
is like other dragons you've fought and the Dragoon is adept at killing beasts
and dragons.
The challenge of this battle comes from NOT killing Vyce and leaving him for
last. Despite how tough he is, the ninja from the last battle was stronger.

The second challenge of this battle is keeping Arycelle alive since she, Denam
and Catiua are in the middle of the map when the fight starts. If Denam is a
Knight you can heal her fairly easy, but Arycelle is still a guest unit and
may stay in the maps middle and try and snipe the enemy Cleric (ha!). Try to
get some relief healing (or any healing) up to her FAST.
The rest of your units can advance up the left-hand side and wipe out the
Cyclops and Dragoon quickly. Consider sending a mage and some other units
to the right to wipe out the Flame Dragon as well since it will be upon
you quickly. From there put your front line in the middle of the map and try
and stop the enemies advance. Canopus and Arycelle can likely 1-2 punch (KO)
a few of enemies backline units if you want. Whatever you do, keep any newly
class-changed units or softer targets away from Vyce.
Aim to leave Vyce for last, but if things to get out of hand you can bring
Vyce down to critical health and the fight will be over. Words will constantly
be exchanged between the three childhood friends and Vyce as the battle goes
on (and Arycelle!) which is pretty neat.
After the battle you'll gain some Dragoon Marks, and as Vyce stated you will
be cut off. Denam will say that we are headed for Krysaro, and sure enough
when you get to the map that will be the only path open to you!
(-NOTE-) Notice the new TALK entry in the Warren Report. The one titled
"Phorampa Open to Hunting". Go read it. Once you do, there will be
a new destination open on the map

Let's talk about the Phorampa Wildwoods. It is basically a dungeon in and of

itself, and consists of SEVEN maps. You can enter and leave, but it will reset
your progress (maps you have beaten will have to be re-beaten). It is also
very random in nature. The enemies there are randomly chosen and placed. They
are also going to be the same level as you, so if you've been over-leveling,
this may actually be a challenge!
Some of the later maps are downright HARD. We're talking facing multiple
(3+) dragons, 2 Octopi and 2 Dragons, and even a map with NINE undead units

versues SIX of your units (Each map in the Phorampa Wildwoods only lets you
deploy six units). You're going to want to be prepared before going in (which
is why we're discussing this NOW). I'd personally recommend getting several
MP restoration items (they are important in the later battles) and making sure
you have some key skills such as Exorcism and Major Heal. Boon of Swiftness
and Recruit are also very helpful. Be sure to grab those MP restoration items
and SEVERAL Blessing Stones, as you can't back out of these seven battles to
go buy more.
I'd recommend saving these battles until you are ready.

Well, I can tell you right now that if you went through even half of the
Phorampa Wildwoods maps, this battle will be a joke. There are quite a few
units to battle in this map, so it's a HUGE battle. The enemy units are
spread out in the beginning, so go engage their first line as soon as you
can. Send archers off to the sides so you can retain the higher ground and
use indirect spells with your mages if your front line is in the way. You
may as well send some units around the right path as well, since the middle
area will become too crowded.
Soon your two armies will clash in the middle between the two houses. You
will likely gain the upper ground easily with numbers, but their leader,
Farrel, will soon join the fray. Of course we want to leave him for last,
but with archers continuing down and the small party that you sent around the
house you can ignore him and continue killing. You'll likely be spending your
TP moves on the southern enemies as well, so don't forget them.
Overall, not a very hard battle. Spread out your units so the fighting isn't
TOO clutered and take advantage of the roofs and left-hand side of the map
with your archers.
After the battle, Denam and Catiua will meet the knight that was taken away
before the battle, Sir Folcurt. He is with the liberation front, the same
group of rebels that Cistina was with. If you saved her earlier he will
comment on knowing you. Denam will explain his travel plans to Rhime. Folcurt
will say that his ship has been captured by pirates and since Denam's plan
sounds like suicide with the Duke's men in the way he will offer his ship in
return for Denam's services in freeing it and his men. After some thought,
Denam will agree and our next course of action will be set.
[Folcurt has joined you as a GUEST.]

We'll be fighting uphill in this battle, but the enemies army is mainly
comprised of frontline units. However, the Magus Bayin is in a rather
precarious position. Get Canopus up near him ASAP to draw attention away.
Specifically, the enemy Archer, Wizard, and Enchantress are the biggest threat
to him.
While I'm sure you've handled dozens of Berserkers and Warriors in your time,
this is likely your first time handling a Cockatrice. Like most beasts, magic
is supremely effective. The general strategy of this battle is to send Canopus
and a healing Rune Fencer towards Bayin and send your frontline units forward
to keep the many warriors and Berserkers occupied. Sick your mage on the beast
and focus on one enemy at a time. Watch out for the enemies coming down the
left side of the map too and make sure you don't overextend your weak units.

After the battle, Folcurt will meet with Denam at his ship. He'll uphold his
promise to take us to Rhime and tell us to go aboard before Bayin stops him to
say that the pirates took Cistina away. This problem of the Liberation Front's
puts us in direct conflict with our trip. Folcurt is a man of his word though
and would take us away if we wished. As you would guess, we have a choice to
make here:
1. We will help you.
2. We must decline.
For the sake of this guide (and since I must choose something) we are going
to help save Cistina one more time.
Bayin will say that the pirate's den is Ndamsa Hold on Deknigos, which is
where we will be headed. Looks like our trip is on hold for now. After the
scene, Bayin will join as a guest.

B A T T L E ! ~

This battle is much like the last fight at Qadriga Fortress. We'll once
again be fighting uphill, but the fort is a bit steeper in places so be extra
careful of the range on your arrows and magic lest they miss entirely. We also
have no one to save, so we can take our time here.
At the start of the battle you'll learn Veldrei was Darza's wife... AND she's
pregnant to boot! Of course, the person section of the Warren Report could
have told you that after the last battle. As much as it pains me morally, we
have no choice if we are to rescue Cistina...
As the battle starts let the Gryphon come to you so you can gang up on it
easily. Bate it if you must. Send some frontline units up the middle of the
fort to tangle up the enemy as well. If Canopus is up to it (read: if Canopus
is a BADASS) you can send him up the bottom side of the fort and tie up 2-3
more units that way. The Familiar can heal, but as long as you are tying up
units your main battle will go smoothly. Your Archers and Wizards can hit
people with their missle attacks but be careful of obstacles in the way.
Keep Veldrei alive as long as you can. Assign healing units to her if you
must as our guest units will show no mercy and can kill her to fast near the
end of the battle if you're not careful. Once Canopus and your ranged units
have cleared the field, take her out to end the battle.
After the battle Cistina will thank us once again. As we're about to set off,
Bayin comes in and talks about Boed Fortress, which Cistina thinks is a great

idea and mentions a person named Cerya. As it turns out, Boed Fortress is the
Liberation Front's HQ and Cerya is their leader. They will want us to meet her
and with that we're off. Cistina will also join us as a guest.
[Cistina has joined you as a GUEST.]
As you can see on the map, Boed Fortress in directly in the way of reaching
Rhime, so we may as well stop by.

Well, the bounty on our heads has caught up with us again. We're facing
THREE Clay Golems here, and even though we're at the bottom of the map they
will catch up to us soon. Thankfully we outnumber the enemy pretty handidly.
Send up some Knights to stop the Golems. You can actually trap them pretty
easily with the house in front of you and make them useless at the cost of
your knights being a doorstop. Have a couple of mages deployed ready to hit
the Golems with magic. If you feel like spending some money, MP items can
help a ton here as you'll likely need to use indirect attacks to take care
of the Golems.
Canopus and any other winged units you have can use the roofs and ranged
attacks to make the enemy focus on defense right off the bat. Send some of
your frontline units up the main path and meet the ninjas that come down.
Those ninja's can use double attack AND use items to inflict negative status
effects on you, so be weary of them. They fall quickly enough when you focus
on them, and will often get out of range of the enemy clerics.
Speaking of clerics, they will often fully fill up their MP with items at
the start of the fight, which can be a pain, but hang up near the north side
of the map for most of the fight. As you advance north, try not to clump up
as Dagon, the leading Wizard, likes to use Paralytic Wave and Poison Mist.
Once you get up there, use a TP attack on one of the clerics to keep them
bust (or hopefully outright kill them). You may need to keep a healer on the
leader once you've killed off most of the enemy to save him from the guest
units, and near the end of the battle Canopus is best used to chase down any
enemy flying units.
Once you kill off Dagon he will mention his grand-daughter. So sad.
Everyone has a story, don't they?

After the battle, proceed to Boed Fortress as we discussed earlier. Here you
will meet with Cistina's sister, the Liberation Front's commander Cerya. Watch
the scenes as their plan unfolds, but your talk with Cerya is interrupted by
a messenger who delivers some VERY important news!
After THAT bombshell, Denam will be outside listening to Cistina, who can't
believe her sister is "just like the Duke". We have a choice to make here:
1. Come with us, Cistina.
2. You chase a dream...
For this current guides build, I am choosing choice number one. Once you ask
Cistina to come with you she will agree. This will lead CISTINA, FOLCURT, and
BAYIN into joining the parth. Very nice, no?
Save before going to the next location, as the next battle will put you in a
precarious position. It's a good idea to have a back-up plan, and your save
file here can save you a lot of headache.

Well, we're in a pickle here. Hopefully your Denam is up to snuff, because

he's about to be hit from all sides here. Putting him in a Knight role or
other beefy role is a GRAND idea, especially since he can heal himself and
survive the onslaught.
Canopus and other speedy units can help provide relief in this fight right
away. The Golems to the north will come down and clog up the main path to the
middle area where Denam and Catiua are, but Catiua will also likely retreat
back (good girl!). Also, beware of the Dark Dragon, he can head south and hop
right into your camp so with that in mind don't let your soft units get TOO
exposed (although if the dragon DOES do that you can gang up on it).
You'll want magic users to deal with the Golems, so consider bringing two
wizards to help out with that. Use indirect spells when things get clustered.
If you're having a really hard time, MP items can help out a ton here and let
you blast the golems right away. We're going to want to save Xapan for last,
of course, but if your Denam is tough enough he and Canopus can keep the
entire western portion of the map busy. If not, have him make a retreat back
to the starting area.
Keeping Catiua alive is rough, but thankfully you don't HAVE to here. She'll
do a good job of healing herself, but if you get unlucky the Golems and
Dragons will use consecutive specials on her (or, well, anyone really) and
likely kill them outright. Of course if this map is giving you a TON of

trouble you can always focus on Xapan to finish the battle.

As you land the crucial blow to Xapan he will get ready to teleport away...
again, but something in the distance will happen. The scene will shift to
another part of the city where the Dark Knight Barbas will lead a raid on the
town. Lanselot will come out and confront him. Stell will sing as Denam
searches for Xapan, who has taken Catiua! Gah! He will tell us to head to
Almorica.
Another Dark Knight named Martym will come and try to delay us, but Gildas
will appear out of nowhere and hold him up as Denam gives chase...

This map is like a random battle, so there's not too much I can say. The
map itself has a lot of cliffs and obstacles, meaning that knockback can be
devestating. You can also benefit from the elevation with your archer. The
enemy units will likely have winged units among them, so be careful about
brining in a level 1 class here as the winged units are often the Rune Fencers
and can cast offensive magic quite easily.

This battlefield is pretty basic and flat. Enemy units will likely consist
of 1-2 Gryphon's who start VERY close to your part and there will likely be
some frontline units (Warriors/Berserkers) and Archers off to the left.
The enemy Gryphon will likely charge at you so focus on it/them and take
it down first. Thankfully you have time to do this as the other enemy units
will likely take a few turns just to reach you and you'll outnumber the
enemy for the remainder of the battle with this tactic. Hurrah!

This battlefield has an upper section to the northwest and a flat field to
the east. This is important because often the enemy will be split among these
two sections (although sometimes they are all grouped together). If they are
split, you should divide and conquer of course, which will make this battle SO
much easier. Focus on taking out whichever enemy group is smaller and be aware
of any clerics in the enemies party.
You'll also likely face your first swordmaster here. Just an FYI, in case you
want to try and recruit him (which I did). To be fair, I'm also a big fan of
katanas.

Much like the last battle, the units you'll be up against here will likely
start split-up from eachother. The map itself is in a distinctive "S" shape,
so pick whether or not you want to go up or down based on which path has easy
units for you to kill then go kill them. Up is preferred so you can pelt the
enemy with ranged attacks as they come up to get you. With this map helping
you out so much in the divide-and-conquer plan, you should be good to go. I
should also note that I was (and you may be too) outnumbered 7 to 6 in this
fight, but with how the enemy is spread out it shouldn't be a problem.

Ok, this is a rather small map with no real elevation changes. This fight,
for me at least, was the hardest one yet. I had THREE dragons bear down on
me from the start of the battle. You're going to want some heavy-duty magic
users in this fight, and feeding them some Magic Leaf items can only help.
This is not a fight to bring weak units in. Keeping the dragons away from
your magic users (2-tiles or more) is a must if you don't want them dead!
Taking down the non-dragon units won't be too bad, but once the dragons
get some TP they can hit units for 90-100 damage, so use the trees and your

frontline units to create a wall of defense. Focus on one dragon at a time

and keep a healer ready to heal. Boon of Swiftness is a godsend here. Take
down the non-dragon units asap and protect your mages (who will be doing
most of the damage against the dragons) and you may yet come out ahead!

map including Octopi, Dragons, and even undead units.

~ T O

B A T T L E ! ~

Wow, is this map hard. You can face a variety of combinations of enemies here
of course, but facing 2-3 undead, 2 dragons, and 2 octopi!? AND various other
units! This is insane! You're looking at facing 8-9 enemies with your SIX
party members...
I won't lie, this map is HARD to beat. Having blessing stones and high level
MP / HP items (along with field alchemy II) help a ton. It helps to load the
map until you're only facing 2-3 LARGE units (aka Octopus and Dragon) and go
from there. Fairy and demon units are easier to handle. Hang back with your
Archers and bring ranged magic / units to pelt the enemies as the advance on
your initial position. The undead will likely be closest to you, so take them
out and have your cleric exorcise them.

After that, try to lure the big units to the south with Canopus or one of
your most badass frontline units and move the squisy party members north,
where they have a chance of surviving. As the battle goes on focus on survival
and taking down the weaker enemy units to gain more turns in battle. Your TP
attacks can likely take down a farie or demon unit who's taken a hit or two.
You're going to want to keep your mage alive and feed him some MP items near
the end to take big chunks out of the dragon and octupi's HP bar. This is by
no means an easy fight, so the chariot feature is definitely your friend here.
If you guys have any tips, they are welcome.

~ T O

B A T T L E ! ~

Gah! Zombies! Well, this map is just full of undead units. You're going to
want to bring along a couple of clerics here and feed them MP items so you can
put down units for good once you kill them. The BIGGEST threat in this map has
to be the UNDEAD OCTOPUS! In fact, you can have to face two of them, which I
wouldn't recommend since they are so damn tough to kill (reload and get one).
Make the enemy come to you and hoard MP (you'll need it later). The octopus

and the other frontline enemies will get to you eventually, although this
tactic will put you at the mercy of the enemies mages who love to try and put
status effects on you. Focus on the octopus with your most damaging attacks
and get him out of the way. The spell Major Heal is great for this battle if
you can group people up, and with two clerics and enough MP restoration items
Exorcism shouldn't be a problem.
Stay back and kill/exorcise the units that come to you and then press
forward. The demon units will fall in one to two hits from your TP skills and
leveled ranged attackers. If you want items you're going to have to exorcise
every enemy, although that'll just make the battle last longer. Be careful of
stilled units getting back up and keep healed and you'll be ok.

Hey guys!
I love music, don't you?! Tactics Ogre has some great tracks in the game,
and in a VERY neat addition this game features a music box, located in the
Warren Report, which adds tracks as you uncover them. It also adds in neat
features such as who the composer and arrangers were, as well as personal

notes for each piece. How cool is that!?!

Here you can find that list of music and read up on the tracks.

Track 1) Overture - Main Theme (1:03)

Composer: Hitoshi Sakimoto
Arranger: Yoshimi Kudo
Notes: "This is a piece that symbolizes the Ogre series. We layered
instruments to add texture while still remaining faithful to the
original orchestration." (Kudo)

Track 2) Chaotic Island - Introduction (2:59)

Composer: Masaharu Iwata
Arranger: Kimihiro Abe
Notes: "Iwata handled the chorus, while I added texture to the
orchestration. The result was even more lavish than we expected,
and I feel it really draws players into the story" (Abe)

Track 4) Catastrophe - Prologue (1:29)

Composer: Hitoshi Sakimoto
Arranger: Yoshimi Kudo
Notes: "This piece contains dramatic transitions, with the Dark Knights'
theme inserted into the middle. It is a memorable piece, fitting
for a scene of Lanselot Tartaros standing at the clifftops." (Kudo)

Track 5) Island Atlas - World Map (1:26)

Composer: Masaharu Iwata
Arranger: Masaharu Iwata
Notes: "The game revolves around epic battles, so we used a more relaxed
piece for the map screen. We extended the piece slightly, aiming for
the feeling of reaching your destination at sunset after a long
journey." (Iwata)

Track 6) Prepare to Take the Field - Battle Party Formation (0:46)

Composer: Masaharu Iwata
Arranger: Masaharu Iwata

Notes: "Warriors experience all manner of emotions as they prepare for

battle. This piece aims to express these feelings." (Iwata)

Track 7) Warren Report - Warren Report (1:24)

Composer: Hitoshi Sakimoto
Arranger: Noriyuki Kamikura
Notes: "We wanted a calmer piece that gave players a break from the hectic
pace, so we focused on stringed instruments such as the cello to
create a gentle, ephemeral tone." (Kamikura)

Track 8) Glory - Victory Screen (0:48)

Composer: Masaharu Iwata
Arranger: Masaharu Iwata
Notes: "I aimed to recreate the joy and relief of victory, and, in the new
parts, the excitement of collecting the spoils of war." (Iwata)

Track 9) Retreat! - Retreat (0:30)

Composer: Masaharu Iwata
Arranger: Masaharu Iwata
Notes: "This piece represents the sounds of soldiers fleeing from battle."
(Iwata)

Track 10) The Color of Chaos - Game Over (0:17)

Composer: Masaharu Iwata
Arranger: Masaharu Iwata
Notes: "I aimed to reflect the sadness and regret of death and defeat."
(Iwata)

Track 11) Blessed Memory - Data Selection Screen (1:19)

Composer: Hitoshi Sakimoto
Arranger: Mitsuhiro Kaneda
Notes: "The chorus felt muted in the first half, and we rebalanced it
several. The second half is a smooth compostion using harpsicord
and strings." (Kaneda)

Track 12) On the March - Challenge Battles (1:10)

Composer: Masaharu Iwata
Arranger: Kimihiro Abe
Notes: "We kept the melody and chordal progression of the original while
giving ita broader sound and adding trills to make this a piece
suitable even for live performance." (Abe)

Track 15) Blasphemous Experiment - Battlefield 3 (2:00)

Composer: Masaharu Iwata
Arranger: Masaharu Iwata
Notes: "Nybeth commands the dead, meddling with souls in his quest for
immortality. This can be thought of as his theme. A rhythm that
portrays a resonating darkness has been added to the eerie scale
of the original." (Iwata)

Track 23) Chivalry and Savagery - Battlefield 11 (1:25)

Composer: Masaharu Iwata
Arranger: Masaharu Iwata
Notes: "I gave this piece the sense of a battle that sees feats both daring
and measured." (Iwata)

Track 28) Impregnable Defense - Battlefield 16 (1:07)

Composer: Masaharu Iwata
Arranger: Mitsuhiro Kaneda
Notes: "This piece uses a large number of voices, which makes it difficult
to avoid clouding the nuance of each tone. It was challenging to
instill the emotions we were aiming for." (Kaneda)
Track 32) Accretion Disk - Battlefield 20 (1:10)
Composer: N/A
Arranger: Noriyuki Kamikura
Notes: "This piece maintains consistent vigor from the intro through to the
end. By adding woodwind instruments and percussion instruments such
as the xylophone, I believe we have expressed vigor and further
momentum." (Kamikura)

Track 38) A State of War - Chapter Title (1:09)

Composer: Hitoshi Sakimoto
Arranger: Noriyuki Kamikura
Notes: "As the overarching story of the game is serious in tone, we added
new touches with a melancholic atmosphere to the middle section,
aiming to cast a little shadow on the piece" (Kamikura)

Track 43) Footsteps from Darkness - The Loslorien Theme (0:55)

Composer: Masaharu Iwata
Arranger: Masaharu Iwata
Notes: "This piece suggests a procession marching on into the fading
twilight, then coming silently to a halt. This is what I aimed
to recreate." (Iwata)

Track 48) Looking Back - New Music Box (0:23)

Composer: Masaharu Iwata
Arranger: Masaharu Iwata
Notes: "The new music box piece is a typical song that could be found in
any music box." (Iwata)

Track 53) Agitation - Crisis (0:27)

Composer: Hitoshi Sakimoto
Arranger: Yoshimi Kudo
Notes: "This piece evokes something moving stealthily in the darkness, but
as it is often played before battle we took care to preserve the
brass staccato to retain its brisk feeling." (Kudo)

Track 56) Death Rattle - Somber Atmosphere 1 (0:33)

Composer: Masaharu Iwata
Arranger: Masaharu Iwata
Notes: "We attempted to express a somber scene with slight elements of
fear." (Iwata)

Track 58) Prayer - Somber Atmosphere 3 (1:20)

Composer: Hitoshi Sakimoto
Arranger: Noriyuki Kamikura
Notes: "We wanted to include elements of a requiem for the dead, and so
incorporated dramatic transitions that bestow a feeling of
solemnity and grief." (Kamikura)

Track 59) Notice of Death (Reprise) - Somber Atmosphere 4 (2:21)

Composer: Hitoshi Sakimoto
Arranger: Kimihiro Abe
Notes: "We used the ideas behind the original to create a new piece. The
delivery of this idea using woodwind instruments is one of the
listening points here." (Abe)

o
Here is the CONCLUSION part of the guide... y'know, version history and
credits and that kind of stuff. The stuff most people don't bother reading.
Anyway, my version history is pretty accurate and if you ever helped me out
at all with this guide your name should be in the credits.

Version 0.01: February 24th, 2011
--------------------------------Started on this guide, but did very little. Wrote up the Tarot card section
and that is it. The game, and the guide, were both put on the back-burner as
I played Dragon Quest VI.
Version 0.02: February 1st, 2012
--------------------------------

Well, here I am again. Finally getting around to this. I wrote a LOT of

guides in 2011 and became prolific on Gamefaqs.com, but sadly this guide was
still undone. I've been wanting to work on this though, to the point that I've
talked to both LastCetra and Shotgunnova about it. LastCetra did a completion
guide that is bound to be helpful in my work while the famous Shotgun has let
me use his formatting from his Final Fantasy Tactics guide.
Unfortunately, after a day of work, I found that mapping out each maps
elevation levels was... awkward. The maps are just plain too big, and it was
too much work for too little reward. I may be looking into hosting screenshots
of each stage at a later date, but for now I plan on ignoring maps and, in
turn, buried treasures until a later date.
Version 0.03: February 3rd, 2012
-------------------------------Started working on a guide for Final Fantasy XIII-2, so it's sad to say but
this guide is on hold for even longer. I really like how the guide is shaping
up so far though. The intro art and beginning section in general looks great.
I added a lot of intro sections today, including brief explanations on the
map, leveling system, story, and tips and tricks.
Version 0.04 February 29th, 2012
-------------------------------Hey, it's a leap day! I just finished Chapter 1 and decided that even though
this guide is very much incomplete I'm going to post it anyways. Sure, there
are other guides out there but this one may help someone and posting it will
make me focus on it. I am still working on Final Fantasy XIII-2 as well as
Skyrim, and Silent Hill Downpour is coming out soon, but other than those
projects this one should be getting my attention.
Version 0.05 March 7th - March 8th 2012
--------------------------------------Got a good chunk of Chapter 2 Chaos done, along with the Phorampa Wildwood.
Have a lot of things to look into thanks to the Gamefaqs board (you guys are
awesome - you know who you are). Lots of thanks go to Taervek, who put a lot
of work into review what I had put up (he's a big reason I'm putting this new
update in there: to get more input). Anyway, with Silent Hill Downpour coming
out soon the next update may take much longer...
