Company Profile
The Bank of the Philippine Islands (BPI) is a
commercial bank with an expanded banking license.
Together with its subsidiaries, BPI offers a wide range
of financial services that include corporate banking,
consumer banking and lending, investment banking,
asset management, securities distribution, insurance
services, leasing, and foreign exchange. These
services are offered to a wide range of customers,
from multinational corporations, government entities
and large corporations to small- and medium-sized enterprises and individuals.
Established on August 1, 1851 under Spanish colonial rule, BPI was originally known as El Banco
Espaol Filipino de Isabel II, named after then Queen of Spain, Isabel II. The Bank was the first to
be established in the Philippines, and was responsible for starting the country's banking and
finance industry. It performed many functions that in effect made it the country's de facto central
bank, including printing and issuing currency in its own name.
For many years after its founding, BPI was the only domestic commercial bank in the Philippines.
It adopted its current name on January 1, 1912.
Bank of the Philippine Islands is the oldest bank in the Philippines still in operation and is the
country's second largest bank in terms of assets, the country's largest bank in terms of market
capitalization, and the country's most profitable bank. It is owned by the Ayala Corporation - the
largest conglomerate in the Philippines, and is based in Makati's Central Business District, on the

Fees and Charges


Processing Fee. No cash-out. A minimal one-time payment of Php 1,500.00 will be deducted from
your loan proceeds.
Prepayment Fee. Never be penalized for paying off your loan earlier than your maturity date. Pay
only your outstanding principal balance and interest due on the date you decide to pay off your
loan.
Late Payment Penalty. In case you forget to pay your monthly installment on time, the unpaid
amount will be charged a late payment penalty of 5% per month.
Documentary Stamp Tax. For loan amounts greater than Php 250,000, the amount equivalent to
P1.00 for every P200.00 (or a fraction thereof) will be deducted from your loan proceeds.

Requirements

Filipino citizen

At least 21 years old but not more than 60 years old upon maturity of the loan

Residence or workplace should be within BPI serviceable areas (customer must be


physically present at the BPI branch to sign the loan documents once approved)

For Employed:

Minimum income of Php 25,000/month

At least 2 years with present employer.

For Self Employed:

Minimum income of Php 50,000/month

At least 3 years of profitable operations.

For Overseas Filipino Worker (OFW):

Minimum income of Php 30,000/month

At least 2 years with present employer.
