Aims

This course aims to provide participants with knowledge and skills necessary to carry out
internal audits based on ISO 17025:2005 and in accordance with ISO 19011.

Upon completion of this Course, students will gain knowledge and skills of:

With reference to the Plan, Do, Check, Act cycle, explain the process-based
quality management system model for ISO 17025, and the role of internal audit
in the maintenance and improvement of quality management systems based on
ISO 17025.
Explain the role and responsibilities of an auditor to plan, conduct, report and
follow up an internal quality management system audit based on 17025 and in
accordance with ISO 19011.
Interpret the requirements of ISO/IEC 17025.

STUDENTS/PARTICIPANTS
In achieving learning objectives, students play a significant role.
Following are the roles and responsibilities that a student/participant should possess:

the course duration.

Roles and Responsibilities

TUTORS
Tutors are responsible for:

1. Providing training that is highly participative and which allow all students to apply new
knowledge and enhance their learning.
2. Should involve and engage all students throughout the duration of the course.
3. Will continuously monitor and assess all students for their performance and achievement of
course objectives.
4. Will ensure that all learning objectives and enabling objectives of the course have been met.
5. Conduct workshops, training exercises and give assignments to students.
6. Use appropriate learning methodologies where participants are involved and can
experience new Skills and ideas, reflect on their learning processes and conduct selfassessment.
7. Provide course materials such as manuals, course structure so that participants can have a
prior knowledge of the flow of the training.
8. Should set a schedule for a consultation. Whenever a participant requires clarification, if not
given the chance inside the session, consultation schedule would be very helpful. This is a
time where participants can discuss freely their queries in order for them to have a clear
understanding of the subject matter.
9. Tutor should maintain professional relationship with the students and his fellow tutors. He
should show approachableness at all times and willingness to provide consultancy.

Student Assessment Process:

Participants will be assessed on the basis of the following criteria:


CONTINUOUS ASSESSMENT

Throughout the duration of the course, performance of the participants in the roleplays, workshops are continually assessed and evaluated. Participants must be able to
demonstrate satisfactory performance in achieving learning objectives and
assignments to successfully complete the course.
In case if participant is not responsive and participative, he or she shall be made
aware of the shortfall in performance and, if appropriate, be provided with additional
coaching outside the formal training hours.
Time consciousness during the course is taken into consideration during continuous
assessment. Failure to do so might result in a failure of meeting course requirements.
No exception shall be given for extending break times for external business activities.

For strict compliance, participants are mandated to have complete attendance for the
full duration of the course. Failure to do so might affect the result of the assessment
and might affect the final grade and the issuance of certificate.
Participants who fail to complete the training course but intending to apply for a
certification as a QMS Auditor shall be required to retake the entire course.

GRADING SYSTEM
In order to evaluate each students performance accurately and fairly, the tutor monitors each
student throughout each workshop; that is, during the preparation as well as during the
actual feedback sessions. The performance of each student is also assessed against the
appropriate learning objectives and then a grade decided as follows.

CERTIFICATION
A Certificate of Successful Completion is to be issued to those participants who pass the
continuous assessment which completes the formal training for an individual seeking
certification as an IRCA auditor/lead auditor. The said certificate is valid for a period of three
years from the date of the last day of the course.

However, a Certificate of Attendance shall be issued to a participant who did not pass the
continuous assessment but have been in attendance for the full duration of the course.
Participants will receive their certificate within eight (8) weeks after completion of the
course.
