21

(Baby screaming)

-7CPS FILE NO: 11435635

MARIE MAGOON:

and the guy said, the doctor said that

its a seasonal allergy and its gonna

start being more common.

MELISSA MOORE:

Really?

MARIE MAGOON:

Yeah.

MELISSA MOORE:

Hm, learn something new every day.

MARIE MAGOON:

10
11

MARIE MAGOON:

No.

12

(Baby screaming)

17

(Baby crying)

18

MELISSA MOORE:

Okay.

Okay, so um, does she feel pain where

19

the burn is?

20

did she feel pain where the v, burn

21

was?

22

bit?

23

MARIE MAGOON:

Like when she was awake

Like did it annoy her a little

No, nothing at all.

-8CPS FILE NO: 11435635

HEALTH LINK CALL OF: Marie Eve MAGOON
November 12, 2011 at 00:07 hours

MELISSA MOORE:

Really?

MARIE MAGOON:

Yeah.

MELISSA MOORE:

Okay, um, Im actually a little

concerned over that.

hurt, right?

Because burns

MARIE MAGOON:

Yeah.

MELISSA MOORE:

And if shes not feeling any burn where

the burn is it could be a possible that

she has a third degree burn.

10

MARIE MAGOON:

What do you mean?

11

MELISSA MOORE:

Um, that she means shes burned through

all of her layers of skin.

12
13

MARIE MAGOON:

No, because um, the, the way it looked

14

like at first was uh, her like the b,

15

because she moved her hand

16

MELISSA MOORE:

Yeah.

17

MARIE MAGOON:

instantly so she like

18

SPENCER JORDAN:

(In background) It was red.

19

MARIE MAGOON:

it was r, like it was red but then

20

like the, the bottom of the burn I guess

21

like broke cause she like opened her

22

hand.

23

MELISSA MOORE:

Mm-hmm.

-9CPS FILE NO: 11435635

HEALTH LINK CALL OF: Marie Eve MAGOON
November 12, 2011 at 00:07 hours

MARIE MAGOON:

You know?

MELISSA MOORE:

Mm-hmm.

MARIE MAGOON:

But its not so I got to have a peek

at the bottom and it, its not bleeding.

Its, it didnt go that thick into her

hand.

MELISSA MOORE:

Mm-hmm.

Is it black or white?

The

area?

MARIE MAGOON:

Oh, its, its white.

10

MELISSA MOORE:

Its, its actually white?

11

MARIE MAGOON:

Yeah.

12

MELISSA MOORE:

Okay, um, because a third degree burn

turns white.

13
14

MARIE MAGOON:

Oh, really?

15

MELISSA MOORE:

Yeah.

her hand from where the burn is?

16
17

Like she doesnt have any pain on

MARIE MAGOON:

Like

No, um, the way, the way it looks

exactly is

18
19

MELISSA MOORE:

Mm-hmm.

20

MARIE MAGOON:

you know, like one of those uh, healed

blisters

21
22

MELISSA MOORE:

Yeah.

23

MARIE MAGOON:

from your shoes?

-10CPS FILE NO: 11435635

HEALTH LINK CALL OF: Marie Eve MAGOON
November 12, 2011 at 00:07 hours

MELISSA MOORE:

Yeah.

MARIE MAGOON:

Thats exactly what it looks like.

MELISSA MOORE:

Okay, and its, its white?

like a yellow blister?

4
5

Its not

MARIE MAGOON:

Well its, its, its got a tinge of

yellow in it, yeah.

But not

MELISSA MOORE:

Okay.

MARIE MAGOON:

Its not white, white and its not

yellow, yellow.

9
10

MELISSA MOORE:

Okay.

11

MARIE MAGOON:

Its kinda like a yellowish, white, you

know?

12
13

MELISSA MOORE:

Okay.

So just ask her in the morning

14

and see if theres any pain.

It does

15

say that the blister should appear deep

16

and can be white or black due to the

17

charred skin.

Okay?

18

MARIE MAGOON:

Uh-huh.

19

MELISSA MOORE:

And have no pain because shes uh, burnt

all the nerve tissue.

20
21

MARIE MAGOON:

its

22
23

Okay, n, I, I personally dont think

MELISSA MOORE:

Okay.

-11CPS FILE NO: 11435635

HEALTH LINK CALL OF: Marie Eve MAGOON
November 12, 2011 at 00:07 hours

MARIE MAGOON:

that because she, she

MELISSA MOORE:

Okay.

(Baby crying)

MELISSA MOORE:

But just

MARIE MAGOON:

her hand is still like

MELLISA MOORE:

Yeah. Just keep your eye out for local

infection, okay?

Which could be um,

signs of redness, um, tenderness or any

kind of puss in the area.

10

MARIE MAGOON:

Yeah.

11

MELISSA MOORE:

Um, has the burn, like has the blister

12

actually broken itself or is it still

13

there.

14

MARIE MAGOON:

Oh, it hasnt broken itself yet, no.

15

MELISSA MOORE:

Okay.

Um, so it says um, you can apply

16

Neosporin or Polys, um, Polysporin and

17

a dry dressing which would be a Band-Aid

18

or whatever like that.

19

disturb blisters.

20

break it is best to leave the skin in

21

place unless movement in broken blister

22

area is causing increased irritation and

23

discomfort. Okay?

Um, do not

So if blister does

-12CPS FILE NO: 11435635

HEALTH LINK CALL OF: Marie Eve MAGOON
November 12, 2011 at 00:07 hours

MARIE MAGOON:

Yeah.

MELISSA MOORE:

So not to actually burst the blister

yourself.

3
4

MARIE MAGOON:

Okay.

MELISSA MOORE:

Okay? Um, and if it does burst just to

leave it alone and just keep the area

clean.

little bit harder cause youre using

your hands so that you would probably

If its on her hand its a

10

wanna use the Neosporin and the

11

Polysporin and a Band-Aid or whatever.

12

MARIE MAGOON:

Okay.

13

MELISSA MOORE:

Okay?

And then just to keep your eye

14

out for signs of infection which include

15

fever, um, puss, like drainage, like a

16

yellow or greenish drainage.

17

MARIE MAGOON:

Yeah.

18

MELISSA MOORE:

Um, and redness um, and unusually warm

to touch.

19
20

MARIE MAGOON:

Yeah.

21

MELISSA MOORE:

Okay?

22

MARIE MAGOON:

Yeah.

23

I was lo, I was, Ive been

looking up those factors and

-13CPS FILE NO: 11435635

HEALTH LINK CALL OF: Marie Eve MAGOON
November 12, 2011 at 00:07 hours

MELISSA MOORE:

Okay.

So any other questions?

MARIE MAGOON:

Uh, yeah, I had one and (giggles) uh,

yeah, is, is could it be the reason

why its not burning her because Ive

been keeping it moist?

MELISSA MOORE:

No, it would still hurt.

MARIE MAGOON:

Okay.

MELISSA MOORE:

Kay.

So a first degree burn is

superficial.

The skin is dry and turns

10

pink or red with mild swelling and

11

discomfort but never blisters.

12

a second degree the skin is moist weepy

13

and red with fluid filled blisters and

14

more severe pain.

15

two to three weeks. Um, its shiny and

16

dry, okay?

17

um, the area may appear white and dry or

18

may be charred black.

19

painful due to the destruction of nerve

20

endings and requires prompt medical

21

treatment.

22

MARIE MAGOON:

Okay.

Okay, so

Kay, it resolves in

And then a third degree burn

Area is not

MELISSA MOORE:

Okay?

Um, so I dont, I dont know what

to say.

you think.

MARIE MAGOON:

Yeah.

MELISSA MOORE:

Okay?

Its, its kind of like what

So if youre saying it doesnt

appear deep like to all layers of skin

well then its probably not and maybe

shes just not telling you that it

hurts.

Okay?

10

MARIE MAGOON:

Maybe.

11

MELISSA MOORE:

But um, like a, like I said a second

12

degree is partial thickness.

13

moist, weepy and red with fluid filled

14

blisters, more severe pain.

15

in two to three weeks.

16

second degree burn should have shiny dry

17

skin in two weeks.

18

degree is skin is superficial.

19

dry and turns pink or red but does not

20

blister.

21

like a sunburn.

22

MARIE MAGOON:

Oh, okay.

Skin is

It resolves

A superficial

Um, and a first

Skin is

So its a, a first degree is

MELISSA MOORE:

Okay?

And a second degree you get like

blisters.

Um, and third degree doesnt

say whether it blisters or not but its

supposed to be white and dry.

almost taking that as like cold burn and

um, or maybe charred black.

Im

So

MARIE MAGOON:

Kinda like a, like a frostbite?

MELISSA MOORE:

Um, mmm, frostbite turns black too.

so, yeah.

White and dry like chalk.

10

MARIE MAGOON:

Okay.

11

MELISSA MOORE:

Okay?

12

MARIE MAGOON:

Yeah, its nowhere near like that.

Its

very moist.

13
14

Um,

MELISSA MOORE:

Okay.

So just keep an eye on it and see

what

15
16

MARIE MAGOON:

Yeah.

17

MELISSA MOORE:

she says in the morning and like I

18

said dont burst the blister yourself.

19

And uh, if it does burst just keep it

20

covered for a little bit.

21

MARIE MAGOON:

Okay.

22

MELISSA MOORE:

Sound good?

23

MARIE MAGOON:

Perfect.
