Tricks of Satan

And of the grazing livestock are carriers [of burdens] and those [too] small. Eat of what Allah
has provided for you and do not follow the footsteps of Satan. Indeed, he is to you a clear
enemy. ( Surah Anam :142)
so we got the point, the point is not to follow the footsteps of shaitaan.
with the point, question is how and what are the footsteps of shaitaan. and how not to follow
the footsteps of shaitaan.
combining the words follow + footsteps = destination
so we can say if we dont follow the footsteps, it means we dont end up a place where shaitaan
is leading us too.
and next Allah says he is your clear enemy.
more and more clear. enemy will not lead us to a place where it pleases us.

let's stop here and go back the story from where human beings started their journey, Satan is
being cursed. and try to figure out the foot prints of satan.

our father Adam (A.S)

And [mention] when We said to the angels, "Prostrate to Adam," and they
prostrated, except for Iblees. He was of the jinn and departed from the command
of his Lord. Then will you take him and his descendants as allies other than Me
while they are enemies to you? Wretched it is for the wrongdoers as an
exchange. (surah kahaf: 50)
"And (remember) when We said to the angels: Prostrate yourselves
unto Adam. So they prostrated themselves except Iblis (Satan). He
was one of the jinn; he disobeyed the command of his Lord" (Quran, AlKahf: 50).
.And they prostrated except Iblis (Satan), he refused and was proud
and was one of the disbelievers (disobedient to Allah) (Quran, AlBaqarah: 34).
Satans arrogance reinforced by his false logic, and jealousy prevented him
from obeying Allahs command. As Allah tells us in the Quran, Satan said,

[ Allah ] said, "What prevented you from prostrating when I commanded you?"
[Satan] said, "I am better than him. You created me from fire and created him
from clay."

(Allah) said: "Then, get out from here, for verily, you are Rajeem (an outcast or a cursed
one)." (Tafseer At-Tabaree).
"And verily, the curse shall be upon you till the Day of Recompense (i.e. the Day of
Resurrection)" (Quran, al-Hijr: 34 35).

[Iblees] said, "My Lord, because You have put me in error, I will surely make
[disobedience] attractive to them on earth, and I will mislead them all

Except, among them, Your chosen servants."

[Satan] said, "Because You have put me in error, I will surely sit in wait for them
on Your straight path.

Then I will come to them from before them and from behind them and on their
right and on their left, and You will not find most of them grateful [to You]."

But Satan whispered to them to make apparent to them that which was
concealed from them of their private parts. He said, "Your Lord did not forbid you
this tree except that you become angels or become of the immortal."

And he swore [by Allah ] to them, "Indeed, I am to you from among the sincere
advisors."

So he made them fall, through deception. And when they tasted of the tree, their
private parts became apparent to them, and they began to fasten together over
themselves from the leaves of Paradise. And their Lord called to them, "Did I not
forbid you from that tree and tell you that Satan is to you a clear enemy?"

O you who have believed, do not follow the footsteps of Satan. And whoever
follows the footsteps of Satan - indeed, he enjoins immorality and wrongdoing.
And if not for the favor of Allah upon you and His mercy, not one of you would
have been pure, ever, but Allah purifies whom He wills, and Allah is Hearing and
Knowing.
