Prior to arrival at the loadport:

Clean or change the IG main riser flame screen with the ready spare.
Ensure that the PV breaker contains the correct liquid as per the manufacturers manual,
the sight glass is clear, the pressure / vacuum markings are visible, and the level is set
correctly. The setting pressure and vacuum should be clearly marked on the side of the
PV breaker.
Ensure that IG main riser and lines are drained and clear.
Ensure that all IG tank valves are open and locked in position, unless vapour
segregation is required.
Ensure that IG main riser PV valve is operational.
Ensure that all PV and hi-jet risers if fitted are operational.

During the voyage:

Ensure that tank valves are set as required.
In case of carrying DPP and crude as separate grades ensure that tanks carrying crude
oil have their IG valves open to the system and that the DPP tanks are venting to
atmosphere as per voyage orders.
Ensure that IG main riser and lines are drained and cleared periodically. Refer also to:
Handling High Pour-Point Cargo Procedure (SP0425)

Prior to arrival at the discharge port:

Carry out pre-arrival checks on the IG system as per manufacturers instruction manual,
ensuring that all alarms and safety devices are operational.
Ensure that IG main riser and lines are drained and clear.
Ensure that the IG oxygen sensor is operational.
Ensure that the IG oxygen content and pressure recorder and chart roll is operational
and switched on.

After departure at the discharge port, or after using the IG plant:

Check that the fans have been washed after use as per manufacturers instruction
manual.
Check that all valves have been set as required and the system remains fit for its
intended purpose.
Ensure that IG main riser and lines are drained and clear.

Advise Master in case of IG failure. As recommended in ISGOTT manual, discharge of cargo as

well as crude oil washing must be stopped immediately should IGS fail and these must not be
resumed until the IGS is operational again.

In case of continued IG system failure, under advise of Teekay management, certain operations
may be resumed provided correct procedures are followed as per legislation or port
requirements.

Refer to: Inert Gas Operations - Tanker Op (RF0013).
