Stoneland Inc. (Stoneland) is a granite warehouse in St. Louis, MO, with branches in Ozark, MO and Iowa City, IA.
Stoneland sells granite and marble slabs directly to fabricators, who then cut, assemble and install the slabs in
homes, offices, hospitals, hotels etc. Fabricators often accompany clients to the warehouse to hand select their
slab(s). These are then put on 'Hold' by the staff at Stoneland for the fabricator and delivered on an agreed date.
Stoneland invoices only the fabricator.
Stoneland Inc. purchases granite from all over the world. The purchasing and receiving is handled at the St. Louis
parent location. Once received, required merchandise is transferred to the other two locations.
Stoneland has used QuickBooks(QB) for their accounting and inventory needs for the past seven years; and a host of
different software for purchasing, receiving and other needs - i.e. Microsoft Excel, custom databases created in
Microsoft Access and pictures of slabs saved in Picasa.
In order to consolidate all the above departments in one comprehensive system; minimize errors and save time,
effort and money; have more accountability by tracking changes better; and to increase efficiency, thereby
increasing sales, the company recently invested in Stone Profits Systems (SPS), a software built specifically for the
Stone Industry.
The Purpose of this Instructional Unit is to teach the staff at Stoneland how to use SPS in the shortest
time possible, without losing productive work hours.
Delivery Method
Delivery method will be blended. For the 50% at the lower end of computer literacy, the initial phase of instruction
will be in small groups face-to-face. The second phase can be over the phone with some online instruction.
For the more computer literate staff, the initial instruction will be blended, with the introduction to SPS being face-toface in small groups, followed by online instruction of their individual modules.
In both cases, after the initial introduction, instruction will be self-paced. Job aides will be used as reminders after
instruction is over.

Terminal Objective: The Pre Sales Staff at Stoneland will be able to find the total number of available slabs,
by name, in a specific warehouse location.
