TIPPER REJECTIONS TIMING

NOTE
This document describe the correct procedure to properly time the rejection valves used in
the rejection station of the tipper unit.
The procedure described are NOT TO BE USED for tipper paper rejection, to time this
rejection refer to the dedicated document.
In order to find the value, in machine degrees, of timing condition two different procedures
can be used, in this document both of them are described specifying, at the end of each
one, the advantages and the drawbacks.

DESCRIPTION
To have a proper rejection of the cigarettes from the rejection stations, its necessary to
energize the solenoid enabling the rejection blow with the right advance and deenergize it
at the condition in which the air duct can be discharged completely before the following
cigarette.
The right closing phase of the reject solenoid is when the hole on the mechanical valve (A)
its centred on the hole in the slot of the drum (B) (see the detail box in the following
drawing)
Starting from that condition (closing phase), the right opening phase is 110 before the
closing condition.

1ST TIMING PROCEDURE

NECESSARY MATERIAL:

2mm drill

PROCEDURE:

Manually activate the rejection valve.

Keeping the valve activated, manually turn the machine until the air blow from the valve
start coming out from the slot in the drum.

Insert the drill inside the hole in the slot of the drum where air is coming out and, paying
attention not to stuck the drill in the mechanical valve, keep turning slowly until its
possible to insert the drill in the rejection hole of the mechanical valve.

Keeping the drill inside the rejection hole of the mechanical valve, turn slowly the
machine until when the drill its centred in the hole of slot in the drum.

Read the machine position in machine degree (K) corresponding to the position
previously found and set it in the CLOSING PHASE parameter for the checked
valve.

Subtract 110 from (K) value previously read and set the result in the OPENING
PHASE parameter for the checked valve.

WARNING:
The described procedure aloud an accurate control of the aligning condition
between the rejection hole in the mechanical valve and the hole in the slot of the
drum, but there is risk to break the drill inside the drum.

2ND TIMING PROCEDURE

NECESSARY MATERIAL:

Mirror

Lamp or flashlight

PROCEDURE:

Manually activate the rejection valve.

Keeping the valve activated, manually turn the machine until the air blow from the valve
start coming out from the slot in the drum.

Place the mirror under the slot of the drum from where air is coming out and, lighting
the mirror with lamp, turn slowly the machine until its possible to see the rejection hole
of the mechanical valve inside the hole in the slot of the drum.

Keep turning slowly the machine until, moving slightly the mirror in order to avoid
evaluation error due to shade, the rejection hole of the mechanical valve its centred in
the hole in the slot of the drum

Read the machine position in machine degree (K) corresponding to the position
previously found and set it in the CLOSING PHASE parameter for the checked
valve.

Subtract 110 from (K) value previously read and set the result in the OPENING
PHASE parameter for the checked valve.

WARNING:
The described procedure has the advantage to be free of possible damage risks or
material break, but does not aloud an accurate control of the aligning condition

between the rejection hole in the mechanical valve and the hole in the slot of the
drum due to possible parallax error.
