1. What is a Standard Comparison Group (SCG) report?

SCG reports are online, interactive tools that let you easily explore your growth and
achievement data from Measures of Academic Progress (MAP) assessments to determine
areas of strong or not-so-strong growth when compared to the standard Northwest
Evaluation Association (NWEA) 2011 norms.

2. How does an SCG report benefit me?

You require easy-to-access comparative data that you can use in a variety of ways. SCG
reports provide a view of your student growth by school, achievement level, grade,
ethnicity, or gender as compared to national student achievement and growth norms.
Interactive tables and graphs allow you to go deeper into your data, helping you make wellinformed decisions to:

support school improvement work

advise program planning, professional development, and curriculum

communicate performance to a wide range of audiences

NWEA SCG reports also provide important insights into student testing conditions. Youll
receive indicators showing when growth results may be questionable based on testing
condition indicators, like unusual or inconsistent time spent on a test. You can easily see
how these flagged testing conditions affect growth.

3. Who are the intended users of SCG reports?

SCG reports are made with district level administrators, school level administrators, and
members of school data teams in mind. These reports are not designed for individual
teachers, as there are no classroom-level visualizations provided.

Standard Comparison Group (SCG) Reports
4. Are SCG reports limited to Web-Based MAP partners, or can Client-Server MAP
partners get them too?
Any partner with two or more completed testing terms can obtain an SCG report, regardless
of whether you are Web-Based or Client-Server MAP.

5. Is there a sample SCG report I can play with?

Yes! Just contact your account manager to request a sample SCG report. Although it is not a
web-based version, it will look and function just like a real, web-based version. Youll need
to download and install the Tableau Reader to open the sample report.

6. What do I get when I purchase an SCG report?

Youll receive district and school level user IDs and passwords to access your growth data
between the two academic terms you select. Youll receive a users guide as well as one
hour of online consulting with a live senior professional development consultant. This
valuable coaching helps you understand your SCG reports, know how to use them, and fully
explore your actual data.

7. What information do you need from me to create an SCG Report?

The following information is required to create a SCG report:

The number of licensed students

The terms between which you want growth calculated (e.g., Fall 14 to Spring 15)
The school year start date (e.g., Aug 25, 2014)
The number of scheduled schools days in the school year (e.g., 180 days)

8. Who should I contact with questions about SCG reports?

Just contact partner support for help.
