Denbighshire creates unique Welsh partnership with

Civica
7-year revenues and benefits partnership to maintain and improve services while
saving 200,000 annually
Denbighshire County Council has established a strategic partnership, the first of
its kind in Wales, with Civica, a market leader in specialist systems and business
process services that help organisations transform the way they work. Under the
agreement, which includes the transfer of 74 employees to Civica, the company
will deliver outsourced revenues and benefits services locally on behalf of
Denbighshire, creating a transactional processing centre Canolfan Elwy that
will sustain local employment through the provision of services for other public
sector organisations in Wales.
Denbighshire's Cabinet Lead Member for Finance, Councillor Julian ThompsonHill, said, "Like all councils in the UK, we are having to look at innovative ways of
working in order to continue to provide services in the face of severe budget
restrictions. Civicas knowledge and understanding of the issues facing local
authorities makes them an important partner for automating and transforming
critical council services such as revenues and benefits.
"The agreement means we can look to the future knowing we can not only
maintain but improve and grow the work we do in Denbighshire and actually
create more jobs further down the line through taking on work for other
authorities.
We have worked with Civica to make the transition as seamless as possible and
we want to offer reassurance to our customers that they can continue to access
the services in the same way as they have done in the past. Employees and the
union have been included throughout the process, providing very positive
feedback.
Simon Downing, Civica chief executive, said, We look forward to working in
partnership with Denbighshire Council to extend our existing relationship and to
provide service assurance and savings for the council during a period of rapid
and significant change. Denbighshire already delivers a high performing service
and, together with our experience in transforming services, we will build on this
to drive innovation, efficiency and growth.
As a strong and stable partner for local government, Civica has built a specialist
revenues and benefits service model which incorporates the skills, flexibility and
scalability needed to respond to the challenges faced by local authorities. The
company provides similar services successfully in other parts of the UK and has a
track record of enabling councils to maximise growth and business opportunities
through a combination of transformation experience and market-leading software
solutions.
