Proposed
Fresh Air Filtration Unit
TECHNICAL SPECIFICATION :
The proposed Fresh Air Filtration Unit shall have the following construction features :
CASING :
CASING
A. The housing construction shall be qualified and tested in accordance with the requirements of
DW/143 and certified to have a minimum rating of Class B at -1,000 Pa (4.02 w.g.) negative
pressure. Certifications shall be available on request without exception.
B. Housing: SAH shall have a corrosion resistant casing consisting of a rigid coated steel and
structural frame and 50 mm thick, insulated, double wall panels.
C. The filter enclosure shall include side-access extruded-aluminum tracks to support the gasphase filter cassettes. No ductwork / plenum installation or simple L track or angle support is
permitted.
Access doors shall be provided on the all Sections to allow ease of access to, and installation and
removal of, all the filter stages.
The chemical filter section shall have extruded aluminum tracks to support the gas-phase filter
cassettes by two upper and lower extruded aluminum sections to ensure no gas bypass.
The SAAF track include two hard extruded-type strips on horizontal surface for easy sliding
movement. The vertical flange in the track shall fit into notches located on the gas-phase filter
cassette and ensure that the cassette is properly positioned in the track.
The hollow core tubular gasket shall be compressed by the action of installing the gas-phase
cassette into the side-access tracks.
No gas by-pass is allowed by track fitment arrangement within the unit Gas Phase Filter
section.
The gas phase filters shall be as described in the following table and shall have a pressure drop,
under operating conditions, no greater than those shown.

Extended Surface Pleated Panel Filters
The AmAir panel filters are constructed with AAF's totally unitized,
double wall, die-cut box, moisture resistant beverage board frame.
The media is bonded inside the frame at all points of contact,
providing a sturdy, reliable construction that does not rack or
deteriorate under difficult operating conditions.
The media pack support retainers, which are an integral part of the
frame at both the air entering and leaving sides, increase filter
rigidity. It helps maintain equidistant spacing between pleats for
maximum dust holding capacity while minimizing resistance.
The AmAir panel filters are ideal for use as prefilter in combination
with high efficiency filters. It helps extend the life of the higher
efficiency filter from premature dust loading and replacement.

2). Width and height dimensions are interchangeable. All AmAir filters may be installed with the pleats either vertical or horizontal.
3). All performance data is based on the ASHRAE 52.1-1992 test method. Performance tolerances conform to Section 7.4 of Standard 850-93.
4). AmAir 300X, 300E, 200E and 100E filters are classified U.L. Class 2. Testing was performed according to U.L. Standard 900.

The thinner depth and fiber board frame make disposal easy - the
easiest of any high efficiency filter. VariCel II filters are only one
third the volume of other high efficiency filters, significantly reducing
the contribution to landfills. With no metal components, they are
also suitable for incineration.*

design, providing minimum
resistance with maximum
dust loading capacity, lowers
operating costs. (A) Rows of
adhesive beads are applied
11/4" apart on both sides of
the media to separate the pleats and allow maximum airflow with
minimum resistance. (B) Beads on adjacent pleats bond to form a
rigid media pack that maintains even pleat spacing as the dirt load
builds, even during turbulent airflow. Media pack support retainers,
built into the die cut frame, are bonded to the pleat tips to further
secure pleat spacing. Consistent pleat spacing provides even
distribution of airflow throughout the entire face of the filter,
resulting in lower resistance, full use of the entire depth of the
media, and higher dust loading capacity.
With this design, VariCel II has the capacity to retain the same
amount of media area, in a filter only one-third as deep, as filters
using traditional corrugated aluminum separators. VariCel II filters
have twice the media area of 12" deep competitive cartridge-type,
extended surface filters using high loft, fine glass fiber media.

SAAF-T-Snap - Unique
design eliminates harmful
glues, solvents, or MEK's and
allows the entire SAAF Chemical
Media in the cassette to be used
specifically to overcome the
external gaseous contaminants,
not contaminants from the
cassette itself. SAAF Cassettes
are the ideal choice in cleanroom
or high-precision applications
where zero off-gassing products
are mandatory.
SAAF-T-Screens - Allow
optimized apertures for
better media retention
and better energy efficiency
through improved aerodynamics
and reduced pressure drop.

Safety
Wet activated carbon adsorbs atmospheric oxygen, causing low
oxygen supply in enclosed areas or packed containers. This can be
potentially hazardous for workers who enter these oxygen-depleted
areas. Make sure that the workers adhere to the provincial and state
safety guidelines.
