AmAir
Extended Surface Pleated Panel Filters

Premium performance and construction

High loft media increases dust holding capacity
Contoured Pleat Design
Available with Intersept
Wide selection range

The AmAir panel filters are constructed with AAF's totally unitized,
double wall, die-cut box, moisture resistant beverage board frame.
The media is bonded inside the frame at all points of contact,
providing a sturdy, reliable construction that does not rack or
deteriorate under difficult operating conditions.
The media pack support retainers, which are an integral part of the
frame at both the air entering and leaving sides, increase filter
rigidity. It helps maintain equidistant spacing between pleats for
maximum dust holding capacity while minimizing resistance.
The AmAir panel filters are ideal for use as prefilter in combination
with high efficiency filters. It helps extend the life of the higher
efficiency filter from premature dust loading and replacement.

High Loft Media Increases Dust Holding Capacity

AmAir media is a special blend of non-woven cotton and synthetic
fibers formed into a high loft mat for maximum media thickness to
hold more dust.

The unique design maximizes media usage and results in a more

gradual rise in resistance and higher dust loading capacity.
While the expanded metal support grid increases the stability of the
pleat pack, thus reducing media flutter during operation.

Available with Intersept

The AmAir filter with Intersept antimicrobial is engineered to
improve Indoor Air Quality (IAQ).
Intersept acts as a preservative to ensure the integrity of the media
throughout the life of the filter. EPA registered and environmentally
safe, Intersept inhibits the growth of microorganisms documented
to affect IAQ.

The contoured shape of the pleats, which

are formed by an expanded metal support
grid (300E, 200E & 100E) permits air to
exit freely through the bottom of the
pleats, as well as along the entire depth.
Dust collects uniformly over the entire media
and does not build up in the exit apexes as it would in V-shaped
pleats.

The thinner depth and fiber board frame make disposal easy - the
easiest of any high efficiency filter. VariCel II filters are only one
third the volume of other high efficiency filters, significantly reducing
the contribution to landfills. With no metal components, they are
also suitable for incineration.*

The VariCel II M & MH combine the efficiency and performance of

VariCel II media with AAFs unique interlocked metal header (MH)
and cell side. These filters are ideal for environments where
excessive turbulence and moisture are factors. Metal makes the
VariCel II M & MH a logical choice for side-access systems.

Two mating die cut boxes are bonded together, forming a double
wall around the perimeter of the filter. The mini-pleat media pack is
bonded inside the double wall. The double-walled, foil laminated
frame prevents leakage and increases rigidity.

Va r i C e l I I s s l i m l i n e
design, providing minimum
resistance with maximum
dust loading capacity, lowers
operating costs. (A) Rows of
adhesive beads are applied
11/4" apart on both sides of
the media to separate the pleats and allow maximum airflow with
minimum resistance. (B) Beads on adjacent pleats bond to form a
rigid media pack that maintains even pleat spacing as the dirt load
builds, even during turbulent airflow. Media pack support retainers,
built into the die cut frame, are bonded to the pleat tips to further
secure pleat spacing. Consistent pleat spacing provides even
distribution of airflow throughout the entire face of the filter,
resulting in lower resistance, full use of the entire depth of the
media, and higher dust loading capacity.
With this design, VariCel II has the capacity to retain the same
amount of media area, in a filter only one-third as deep, as filters
using traditional corrugated aluminum separators. VariCel II filters
have twice the media area of 12" deep competitive cartridge-type,
extended surface filters using high loft, fine glass fiber media.

VariCel II media is made

Form and fit unlike any other 18"-deep, 1" gas

filtration cassette
Improved fit and sealing, even when deployed
in older cassette holding systems
Complete media utilization design
No-glue design eliminates problems from spills,
off-gassing, bypass, and leakages
Multiple patents pending
Filled cassettes rated UL Class 2
AAF International proudly announces the SC:MD the best
1" V-bank, 18"-deep gas filtration cassette in the industry.
AAF, the global leader and pioneer in air filtration, designs,
manufactures, and performs QC compliance on these
cassettes under ISO 9001:2000 and other applicable
global quality certifications.

Design, Construction, and Patents

Creating the perfect SAAF Cassette presented unique challenges.
The design needed to be such that it retrofits easily and performs
better than older legacy cassettes in existing installations. The result
the SC:MD which was conceived and designed by AAF Internationals
global engineering and design teams that span five continents.
High technology design tools were employed to validate the design
and confirm better performance. Computerized Fluid Dynamics
(CFD) modeling and performance tests confirm optimal design.
The resulting design and construction surpasses any competitors
cassettes in the market, while allowing users a truly better design
with value-enhancing features.
The SC:MD is constructed from High Impact Polystyrene (HIPS)
and comes pre-filled with SAAF Chemical Media.

complete media utilization
design eliminates the nose
cavity typically created by legacy
cassettes. Nose cavities cocoon
up to 30% of the chemical media
keeping it isolated from airflow

of the cassette.
SAAF-T-Snap - Patent pending
design provides a high pressure,
no-glue snap assembly. This
rigid construction excludes
harmful glues, solvents, or MEK's
from the manufacturing process.
The SAAF-T-Snap design, unlike
legacy cassettes, has no seethrough holes in the solid end
plates. This allows for better
structural integrity and eliminates
gas by-pass problems.

to ensure full media utilization.

Efficiency and Performance

Most legacy cassette manufacturers state that their cassettes operate
at >90% removal efficiencies. In reality, these efficiencies are not
cassette efficiencies. In an installation, removal efficiency is dependent
on the precise sealing of the chemical media delivery mechanism, i.e.
the cassette with the cassette holding mechanism. Due to looser
manufacturing tolerances, testing of most legacy cassettes shows
removal efficiencies as low as 65%.

SAAF-T-Track - System utilizes

the SAAF-T-Groove feature and
provides a compression fit that
eliminates by-pass. The solid top
and bottom rail system on SAAF
Cassettes eliminates yet another
by-pass zone.

SAAF-T-Snap - Unique
design eliminates harmful
glues, solvents, or MEK's and
allows the entire SAAF Chemical
Media in the cassette to be used
specifically to overcome the
external gaseous contaminants,
not contaminants from the
cassette itself. SAAF Cassettes
are the ideal choice in cleanroom
or high-precision applications
where zero off-gassing products
are mandatory.
SAAF-T-Screens - Allow
optimized apertures for
better media retention
and better energy efficiency
through improved aerodynamics
and reduced pressure drop.

Cassette-To-Cassette Mating
Seals - Smooth mating end
panels with no penetrations
or outward turned flanges
allow excellent cassetteto-cassete sealing.
