Saturday, April 11 - Corning Dike Walk. This outing is a Corning walk-about of approximately 2
hours followed by lunch (buy your own) at Atlas Pizza. Please dress for the weather and wear
comfortable shoes. We will meet in Wegmans parking lot in Corning at 10:00 A.M. Please bring
a snack, plenty of water and wear comfortable socks and hiking boots. Please sign up with Janet

Saturday, May 2 Hike on the Finger Lakes Trail through Goundry Hill and Sugar Hill State
Forests. We will pass by the very old Six Nations Cemetery and enjoy spectacular views of
Lamoka and Waneta Lakes. This is a 6 mile hike. Waterproof hiking boots are recommended. Bring

Saturday, May 9 - Hike the West Rim of the Pennsylvania Grand Canyon. This hike has beautiful
views of the Pine Creek Gorge. Wear appropriate footwear for ups and downs over possible wet
conditions on the trail. Bring water and a trail lunch or snack. Call leader Jim Trondsen for

Sunday May 10 Paddle the Cohocton River (Bath to Campbell). Bring your own canoe, kayak,
paddles, preservers, gear, water, snack, sunblock, etc. Contact Kevin Rexford at

Saturday, May 16 Bike the Catherine Valley Trail. We will meet in the Watkins Glen High
School parking lot behind the school near the start of the trail at 1:00 P.M. The ride will go to
Smith Road and back, about 28 miles round trip with a few stops along the way. If you do not
want to do the entire ride, you may gauge your distance and turn around and ride back (on your
own) at any point. Please bring plenty of water, a helmet, spare tube and a snack and dress for
the weather. Those who want will go for early dinner in Watkins Glen after the ride. Please sign

Sunday, May 17 - Hike on the Finger Lakes Trail from Texas Hollow State Forest to Connecticut
Hill Wildlife Management Area. This is a 5 mile hike with beautiful views of Cayuta Lake and the
surrounding hills. Bring waterproof boots, water, and lunch. We will stop afterward for dinner.

Saturday, May 23 - Van Lone Hill Loop Trail in Schuyler County just off County Rte. 6. This is a
5.8 mile loop and mostly moderate hike. Trail starts along a beautiful stream and then climbs a
steep hill section to circle through part of Connecticut Hill Wildlife Management Area.
Waterproof hiking shoes are a good idea. Bring water and lunch or a snack. We will stop for

Sunday, May 24 - Hike Mount Pisgah State Park near Troy, PA. The hike will incorporate trails
in the park and the neighboring forest, depending on condition of the trails and participants. We
will have an early afternoon start. Wear appropriate footwear for various conditions underfoot
including wet trails. Bring water and a trail snack. Call leader Jim Trondsen for meeting time and

Saturday, May 30 Gardens/lake/gorge walk at Cornell University in Ithaca, NY. We leave from
corner of Center and Chemung Streets in Horseheads, NY (small parking lot south of Dunkin
Donuts) at 10:00 am. (1 hour drive to Ithaca.). This 6 mile one-way hike starts east of Cornell's
campus and ends in downtown Ithaca. Walk on grassy, woodland and paved trails through
Cornell's arboretum, Mundy Wildflower Garden, botanical gardens, and around Beebe Lake. Next
we trek across campus a stop at the Cornell Dairy Bar around mile 4 is unavoidable then follow
Cascadilla Creek down its recently reopened gorge trail. Difficulty level is moderate to strenuous.
Dress for the weather. Bring water and a snack. Sneakers are probably fine if dry weather.

Saturday, June 6 Hike at Ricketts Glen State Park south of Dushore, PA. This beautiful park is
famous for its 22 waterfalls. The 4 mile hike requires some climbing up and down primitive stone
steps with slippery spots. Waterproof hiking boots are recommended. Bring water and a snack. We

Sunday, June 7 - Indian Hills - Addison - Cowanesque bike ride. This is a beautiful ride through
the valleys along the NY-PA border. Well start at Indian Hills golf course; follow Rt. 417 into
Addison; take the Addison Back Rd. through Freeman to the Marsh Rd into Nelson, PA; ride along
the north side of Cowanesque Lake to the River Rd and back to Indian Hills. This 32 mi. ride is
mostly flat (one gentle 300 ft. climb over 4 miles). The campground at Cowanesque Lake makes
a great rest stop half way through the ride. Well stop for dinner afterward for anyone whos

Saturday June 13 Bushwack the Arnot Forest ! A strenuous 4 to 6 mile trek among hardwoods
and hemlocks on overgrown logging roads and pathless forest floors through the mountains of
Cornell Universitys Arnot Forest and adjoining state forests. Hiking boots and long pants

Sunday, June 14 - Ives Run Hikes near Tioga PA. 5 7 miles, easy to moderate. The Railroad
Grade Trail is a 2.5 mile easy trail, with a sometimes rough crushed stone surface, through a
secluded marsh area. Songbirds, waterfowl and game birds may be observed while traveling
through the Bryant Hollow Wildlife Management Area. The Stephenhouse Trail, 1.25 mile loop,
is moderate with a slight slope, offering tree interpretation. We may do one, or both trails, and
are hoping the beautiful PA mountain laurel will be in bloom. Sturdy footwear suggested,
waterproof is always a good idea, just in case. Bring a snack and fluids for a stop on the trail.

Saturday, June 20 - Hike at Robert Treman State Park. This beautiful 5 mile circular hike includes
12 waterfalls ranging in height from 12 to 115 feet. There is an old mill at the upper gorge open
for touring. The hike includes a lot of steps and some uphill climbing (rest stops will be included!).
Bring water and wear comfortable hiking footgear. Join us for diner and a movie after the hike, if

Sunday June 21 - Bike Ellis Hollow and Beyond. This is a strenuous 24-mile round-trip tour on
paved roads through the picturesque, hilly countryside east of Ithaca - plus a short hike. Meet at
the corner of Center and Chemung Streets in Horseheads, NY (small parking lot south of Dunkin
Donuts). At 10:00 am we drive 50 minutes to Ithacas East Hill Plaza where we park in front of the
P&C. Get on the bicycles at ~11:15am. Bring water for the duration of the ride plus a snack. Ride
description: Starting at our lowest elevation, we climb eastward through the community of Ellis
Hollow. At mile seven, we hop off bikes to hike 1 to 2 miles in Roy H. Park Preserve conditions
permitting. Next, pedal 6 miles northward around the area of Yellow Barn State Forest to reach
our highest elevation: 900 ft above our starting point. Most of the remaining 13 miles is a pleasant
descent south/west through the Ellis Hollow area back to our starting point. Total climbing: 2,136
ft.

Saturday, June 27 - The Pennsylvania Grand Canyon Rim Loop features a series of breathtaking
vistas. This is a hike of moderate difficulty that is 6.2 miles in length with some uphill. Bring
hiking boots and a lunch. We'll optionally stop for dinner afterward. Call Jeff Ahrens for the

Sunday, June 28 - Paddling trip on Lamoka Lake. Meet at 1 pm at County Route 23 state boat
launch two miles west of Tyrone. About three hours long. Bring snack, or swim trunks, for stop
on uninhabited island. Optional dinner out afterward. We can vote on where there. Bring own
canoe or kayak. Life jackets required. There are some area vendors with rates that average $25
a day for canoes/kayaks ($35 for double kayak) and generally $10 delivery fee. I can give you
referrals to vendors, but you will need to make own arrangements. If interested, contact Bob via

Saturday August 29 Hike on the Crystal Hills Branch of the Finger Lakes Trail. This will be a 5+
mile hike off West Hill Rd in Painted Post. Meet in lot across from the Corning-Painted Post
Middle School @ 8:30 am. We can do a loop with a road walk or out & backyour choice. Lunch

Saturday, September 5 Hike Sand Run Falls Trail in the Tioga State Forest. We will meet at
the Community NA Bank parking lot in Gang Mills at 8 A.M. The hike is about 4 hours. The
highlight of the hike is the waterfall and the fall foliage. There will be a lunch stop on the return
for those who are interested. Please bring a snack, plenty of water and wear comfortable socks

Saturday, September 12 Loop Hike on the Mid State Trail near Blackwell, PA. We will be hiking
along beautiful mountain streams with gorgeous vistas of the Pine Creek Grand Canyon of
Pennsylvania. Waterproof hiking boots and hiking poles are recommended. Bring water and a snack.

Saturday, September 19 Bike Pine Creek Rail Trail. Starting at Blackwell heading south. We
can stop for dinner afterward. Bring trail/hybrid bike, water and helmet. Call Stu Sotherden at

Saturday, September 26 - Easy hike through trails on an 85 acre private parcel through
hemlocks, pines and hardwoods. Nice views of Cayuta Lake. Second portion through wetlands
and low woods on Cornell property across the road. Followed by a cookout on the deck. BYOB.

Saturday, October 3 - Hike on the Finger Lakes Trail from Bath to Mitchellsville. This is a 5.9 mile
moderate hike. Trail runs through varied terrain including charming fields and woods with many
picturesque views. We will stop for lunch or snack at the lean-to above Hickory Hills
Campgrounds and continue on to Newton Road. A lovely, interesting walk on an autumn day.

Sunday, October 11 - Tanglewood Nature Center, 443 Coleman Ave., Elmira. Meet at parking
lot at museum at 1 p.m. Hike Twain Trail, easy to moderate 3-mile hike through woods and
meadows, with outstanding view from Frenchman's Bluff lookout of Chemung River Valley. Catch

Saturday, October 17 Virgil Mountain Loop Hike on the Finger Lakes Trail. This is a moderate
hike of 4.7 miles with beautiful views of the peak fall foliage from Greek Peak and Virgil Mountain.
Waterproof hiking boots are recommended. Bring water and a snack. We will stop afterward for

Saturday, October 24 - Come hike the Ansonia Ridge Loop in the PA Grand Canyon. This is a
challenging hike that is 8.8 miles in length with up to 2300 feet of elevation gain. Our efforts will
be rewarded with a panoramic view of Pine Creek. Please bring hiking boots and a lunch. We'll

Sunday, October 31 Halloween Hike in Watkins Glen State Park. This is a 3 mile hike in one of
the most spectacular parks in New York State. The trail passes through rock tunnels and over
stone bridges on the its way past 19 cascading waterfalls. There are some wet spots so
waterproof boots are recommended. Prizes for best costume. If you are interested, please bring
a dish to pass for dinner afterwards at Sandy and Stus house in Montour Falls. Meet in front of
the Schuyler County Court House in Watkins Glen at 1:00 pm. Contact Stu Sotherden at 607-5359117 for more details.

Sunday, November 1 Spencer Crest Nature Center Walk. The nature center is now part of
Corning Community College. It provides environmental, educational and recreational activities
for the greater Corning area. The Center features 250 acres and 7 miles of trails on moderate
terrain with two ponds, a stream and a museum. Note that the museum is not open at this
time. You can print a trail map from the website if you want and bring it with you. Plan to be
out for about 2-3 hours. We will meet in the parking lot next to the main building at Spencer
Crest Nature Center at 1:30 P.M. You may check the website for directions via Powderhouse
Road or Spencer Hill Road from Corning. Please bring a snack, plenty of water and wear
comfortable socks and hiking boots and dress for the weather. For those who are interested,
we will go to The Soulful Cup on Market Street for beverages (buy your own) after the hike.

Saturday, November 7 - Bike the Bluff at Keuka Lake. Enjoy the solitude and views of the lake as we
pedal the bluff road skirting Keuka Lakes northern end. Distance will be in the 22 mile range. Bring
your bike, helmet, an extra inner tube, water and a snack. Call leader Jim Trondsen for meeting time
