PROPOSITION 2 AND ITS NEED FOR APPROVAL

INTRODUCTION
Attention Getter: Medical Marijuana will help millions dealing with incurable
diseases & epilepsy including kids.
Purpose: To educate my audience about the need for Proposition 2s approval.
Importance to Audience: Medical marijuana can be a safe and effective
treatment for the symptoms of cancer, AIDS, multiple sclerosis, pain, glaucoma,
epilepsy, and other conditions.
Thesis Statement: Medical marijuana can help millions dealing with incurable and
terminal diseases
Preview: I will discuss what Proposition 2 is and its need for approval.
(Transition: I will explain what Proposition 2 is.)
BODY
I. Rheumatoid Arthritis is an autoimmune disease in which your bodys immune
system starts attacking your joints.
A. RA symptoms:
1. Tender, warm, swollen joints
2. Morning stiffness that may last for hours
3. Firm bumps of tissue under the skin on your arms (rheumatoid nodules)
4. Fatigue and fever
B. The stages of RA
1. Monocyclic extended flare of symptoms lasting an average of 2 to 5 years
2. Polycyclic pain and inflammation fluctuates over the course of your life
3. Progressive pain, swelling and limited function increases with time and does
not recede
(Transition: Next, I will talk about effects of medical marijuana and it.)
II. Although, There is no known way to prevent RA there may be ways to reduce
chance of developing severe joint damage after an RA diagnosis.
A. Get Help Early by seeing a doctor as soon as possible.
B. Exercise
C. Quit smoking if applicable.

D. Diet food with omega-3 fatty acids, vitamins C, E, and A may reduce
inflammation throughout the body.
E. Stress try to eliminate or lower the stress in your life.
(Transition: I will discuss ways to consume Medical Marijuana.)

III. As stated early, although theres no cure for RA. There are medications that can
reduce inflammation in the joints in order to relieve pain and prevent and slow joint
damage.
A. NSAIDs which are nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs such Advil, Motrin and
Aleve.
B. Steroids such as prednisone which reduce inflammation and relieve pain but
its side effects may outweigh its effectiveness.
1. Increase appetite
2. Moonlike face
3. Also may cause diabetes
C. DMARDs (Disease-Modifying autirheumatic drugs) which can slow the
progression of RA and save the joints and other tissues from permanent
damage.
D. Surgery to removed inflamed tissues surrounding the joints

CONCLUSION:
A. Rheumatoid Arthritis is a chronic, systemic inflammatory disorder that primarily affects
joints. Early detention, exercise and diet can reduce the pain and stiffness of the disease.
Treatments for RA consists of NSAIDs, DMARDs and surgery.
B. In conclusion, remember Rheumatoid Arthritis is a disease that does not discriminate
against age, sex, color or religion. Meaning anyone can become a victim of this disease.
