Declaration of Independence 2014
Introduction
When people must separate from political connections holding them together, as God has
allowed them to, respect for mankind forces them to state their reasons why.
Reasons
All men are given by God basic necessary rights, like life, freedom, and the right to chase
happiness. To make sure we have these rights, governments are created, which are powered by
the people who the governments control. If a government starts infringing upon these rights, the
people are allowed to destroy it and create a new one that is based on these rights to give them
safety and happiness. However, governments that have been in control for a long time should not
be changed for small reasons, and experience has shown that the people can tolerate light evils
that the governments have forced upon them, as they are used to the government already.
However, if a government, no matter how long-lived, abuses it citizens to the point when it
becomes tyranny, the people can, and should, overthrow such government and fight for their
future. The colonies had suffered like this, and now need to change their old government. The
recent conflict with Britain is only a part of a long history of abuse, with the goal being to
completely control these states. We will prove this to the honest world with some facts.

Complaints

Ngo 2
1.

The king has prevented his royal governors from passing laws of immediate

importance until he has agreed, and harms us in the process.

2.
He has repealed our best laws, and allowed others to make laws for us.
3.
He has prevented trade with foreign countries
4.
He has kept armies in our towns without our consent, even during times of peace.
5.
He has removed our representation because they complain about abuse of human
rights.
6.
He has hired foreign soldiers to kill us, destroy us and control us with unusual
cruelty not even fit for barbarians.
7.
He has protected the corrupt soldiers with fake trials.
8.
He takes us to a Britain where we have no jurisdiction to be judged, and does not
let us judge ourselves.
9.
He controls our population, immigration, attempts to settle west, and our right to
our land.
10.
He has taxed us without our permission.
Reaction/Declaration
We have sent petitions and asked nicely for our rights, but we have not only been rejected
but harmed each time. A ruler who does such a thing is classified as a tyrant. We have warned
them about their attempts to pass laws for us. We reminded them of why we got here and why we
settled here (for freedom). We have asked nicely, and even shown them the horrible things that
would happen if they had continued their actions. However, they have ignored the voice of
reason and justice. We have decided that we must fight for our rights, and we now consider
anyone who agrees to these liberties our friend, and anyone who opposes our secession, our
enemy. Us representatives in Congress assemble and appeal to God for the righteousness of our
cause, and as the authorized leaders by the people of the colonies, declare that we should,
because of our rights, be free and independent. These colonies are now not allied or politically
related to Britain, and we shall have the power to make war, peace, alliances, commerce and do

whatever independent states can do. To support this declaration, while we rely on the protection
of God, we signers will pledge our lives, our fortunes and our honor.
