These starting up instructions are applicable to IDM

heat pumps TERRA with Navigator 1.0 Control. The
following instructions describe how the starting up is
performed by the IDM service engineer.

During transport, the heat pump must never be

inclined more than 30. The heat pump must not be
transported on the connection fittings. The transport
packaging may only be removed if the heat pump is
located at its installation location.

In order to do so, relevant parameters for starting up

in the Navigator 1.0 Control are described. Descriptions regarding assembly, function and the operation
of the heat pumps are featured in the separate documentation provided.
The Navigator 1.0 program versions are generally
prepared for connecting an internal expansion set
for 2 other mixer circuits. The heating circuits C and
D are, however, only possible in systems with the
expansion set (accessories). Furthermore, 3 further
mixer circuits can be controlled via an additional external heating circuit expansion module.

1 . 5 . C o n str u c ti o n d r y i n g a n d sc re e d h e a t i n g

The heat pump is not designed for the increased

heat requirements when drying out construction work
or heating plaster or screed. This must be covered
by equipment to be provided by the customer if
required.

10

1 . 3 . Sa fet y I n s t r u c t i o n s
11

Installation and maintenance work can be hazardous

due to high system pressure, high temperatures and
live parts and may only be operated by specialist
staff.

12

13

General information

In addition, all safety instructions in the relevant documentation, stickers on the heat pump itself and all
other applicable safety regulations must be observed.
Stickers and safety instructions must not be removed
from the system.

Heat pumps may only be installed by

competent specialist staff and commissioned by a customer service company
trained to do so by IDM-Energiesysteme
GmbH.

When working on the heat pump, the

system must be deactivated and secured
against reactivation.

Before starting up the TERRA HGL heat pump,

the heating side and the brine circuit side must be
checked for tightness, rinsed thoroughly, filled and
bled carefully. Furthermore it must also be ensured
that:

If the above points are satisfied the system can be put

into operation.

After actuating the main switch the initialisation of the

Navigator screen starts.

Starting Up Instructions

During the first start up the control starts

in the starting up Wizard.

Or, if the parameter "Heat Pump Configured" is set to no, the control system
starts the starting up Wizard after initialisation.

If this setting changes to yes after completing the initialisation, the starting up
Wizard is no longer shown during the
start up.

10

11

During the starting up and maintenance

work on the heat pump, it is recommended to remove the SIM card from
the GSM Module if using one since when
switching off the control an SMS is sent
to the predefined service numbers.

In the event of modifying the equipment

configuration, it is recommended to carry
out a new start of the control.

4.7.3. Auto-tuning
2

The menu item EVR auto-tuning starts the auto-tuning

function. During auto-tuning, the control parameters
for the ground evaporator are provided automatically.
The auto-tuning process is started once and runs
automatically. Auto-tuning last a total of approx. 30
min.

During auto-tuning, the control parameters for the

respective ground evaporator are provided automatically. This ensures that the heat pump and the evaporator are calibrated to each other optimally.
The auto-tuning process takes place as follows:

10

11

12

- After auto-tuning begins, the heat pump runs in

heating mode. The valve setting of the electronic
expansion valve is set to start opening +25%.
- Once the heat pump's overheating reaches a
constant value, the valve is positioned at the start
opening.
- The overheating increases. The process stops
once overheating becomes constant.
- The control is able to specify the PID control parameters for the direct evaporator by recording the
jump function.

13

If a low pressure error occurs during auto-tuning, then the expansion valve's start opening
needs to be set slightly larger. Auto-tuning needs to be started again after this is done!

the compressor is started, the expansion valve will remain in the start position for 10 min. The control for the
expansion valve is authorised once this period elapses.

- If the overheating is less than the target value, the electronic expansion valve closes.

An extra slave board A7 is built into Terra MAX machines with Navigator and connected via CAN bus
with the master board A1. A separate slave program
is installed on the slave board.
The slave board is pre-configured in-factory for machine application without cascade connection.
During initial commissioning (e.g. board exchange) or
for integration of the Terra Max into a cascade network
via CAN bus, the slave board must be configured. To
configure the slave board, the operating component
must be reconnected with the X25 plug on the slave
board. The software is installed onto the slave board
as described in chapter 2.
Just like with the standard software, the commissioning assistant launches for an un-configured slave
board.
While configuring the slave board, the position of the
machine in the cascade network must be set. If the
machine is not connected in a cascade, the slave
board will always be set to 'master'.
After completing the slave configuration, the menu
item 'configuration complete' is set to 'yes'.
Next, the program restarts and switches to the main
slave menu, where the 3 icon menus are displayed
(time, information, and configuration).

The slave software is different from the

master software. Make absolutely sure
that the correct software is installed!

A controller reset must be carried out for

each initial commissioning (e.g. board

Holding the key combination 'both arrow
keys + F1' for 3 sec. switches to the
factory commissioning and executes a
controller reset.

5.1. Cascade control

2

The cascade control is possible for all heat pumps featuring Navigator control. The always cascade consists
of a master control and 1-4 slave controls that are connected with each other via CAN bus. The cascade
stages are addressed according to need for heating or cooling via the master control. Determination of need
is executed by the master control only.
5 . 1 . 1 . Ca s c a d e c o n f i g u r a t i o n
Provided a cascade control is used, this needs to
be set in the commissioning assistant during commissioning. As soon as parameter CA000 has been
set to 'yes', the menu item 'cascade system' may be
selected in the settings.
A cascade may only be set if at least
two heat pumps are connected via
CAN bus!

A multi-stage machine (more than

one compressor in a machine) does
not qualify as a cascade system!

10

A hygienik may not be set on the

slave machines! The process water
preparation and the buffer management may only be controlled via the
master machine and may also only be
set via the master!

11

12

13

Only one hygienik sensor, one heat

storage sensor, one cold storage
sensor, and one external sensor are
needed for cascade operation. These
sensors are always connected to the
master machine.

Allgemeine Information
solar control

THE

P OWE R FAM I L Y

A solar control may be implemented via the Navigator

control. The extra expansion board is necessary for
the solar control for the solar expansion. The solar
expansion board is connected with the Navigator
control via the CAN bus. (see hygienik solar assembly instructions)

6 . 1 . So l a r c o n f i g u r a t i o n a t t h e t e c h n i c i a n l e v e l

The solar function is activated at the technician level.

Parameter configuration - solar control

Par. No.

Name

Description

SC001

Solar diagram

This indicates whether a solar system is controlled via the Navigator control. The parameter SC001
configures the function intended for the solar system.

10

Settings:
Hygienik - only used for process water preparation

11

Hygienik + buffer - used for process water preparation and heating

Hygienik + buffer + pool - for process water, heating, and pool heating (SSL).

12

Hygienik + buffer + brine - for process water, heating, and WQ supply (SSL)

13

As soon as a solar function has been set in the parameters, the menu item solar control becomes visible in the menu settings. The solar control menu item
is used to make the most important solar settings.

Name

Description

SC004

Collector min. temp.

If the collector pre-run temperature < collector min. temperature, then the solar charge is cancelled
/ not authorised.

SC005

Collector max. temp.

Indicates the max. collector temperature. If this is exceeded, the collector circulation pump shuts
down.

SC008

Heat sources max.

temperature

Indicates the max. temperature of the heat source during supply of the brine circuit heat pumps.

SC012

Heat sources charge differential

Preset at the factory!

SC009

Hyst. buffer

The collector temperature must be greater than the buffer temperature by the hysterese heating
buffer so that a buffer charge is possible.

If this is exceeded, then an error message is issued

SC010

Hyst. hygienik

The collector temperature must be greater than the current hygienik temperature by the hysterese
hygienik so that a hygienik charge is possible.

SC120

Impulse solar

The 'impulse solar' parameter is used to set how many impulses per litre are given off by the flow
counter in the solar module. The number of impulses per litre may be read on the flow counter.

Setting standard IDM - flow counter 2.5 m: 2 impulse/litre

The set value must match the specifications in the flow counter! During commissioning, make sure
to check this!

SC124

Min. solar charge

pump speed

This parameter indicates the min. speed of the solar charge pump.

SC128

Min. speed collector

pump

This parameter indicates the min. speed of the collector pump.

SC132

Min. speed heat

source pump

This parameter indicates the min. speed of the heat source pump for supplying the heat source
circulation of the heat pump.
