From the Pastors Desk

Welcome Visitors !
To all who are visiting
from outside the
parish during this
Easter season, we
welcome you and
pray you travel safely,
enjoy great local
produce, build happy
memories and enjoy
well behaved kids
throughout your stay!

Dear Parish Family,

Our first Easter together! The resurrection
celebrations are such a special time for us as a
community. I think one of the aspects of it of course is
that we get an opportunity to start afresh from Jesus;
you might remember that as the theme for the Year of
Grace. Whatever our issues over the time of the
preceding year as individuals and as a community we
know that in repentance we start afresh. How Graced
is that for us.
The tomb so symbolically sets the image for us. In
darkness we lie with Jesus grieving all that sin, all the
deaths, all the losses and we place them in the tomb.
On Easter morning when Jesus disciples and the
women arrive at the tomb and find it empty of Jesus
what they do find is that which covered his body still
lying there: the shroud of mourning. When we look in
the tomb all we should find is that which we placed
there and which we plan to leave there; neatly folded
and very carefully placed and left.

Need some therapy and a little

exercise?
Then consider joining the Gardening Group. They are
fun to be around and always have the most delicious
cake available to share at morning tea, following their
endeavours. Please consider getting involved. Their
next reunion will be on Thursday 16th April. Call
Howard 6557 6826 for more information.

So on Easter Sunday morning we celebrate that we

are reborn. New people ready to share faith and hope
with our community and our world. Free of all the
hollow moments of the year. We are joyfully raised to
the new life that is Easter! We start afresh with Jesus;
celebrating that he died for our burdens and rises so
that we know how to live.

Little White Books

Enjoy six minutes of daily reflections for the Easter
season with a little white book. Available from the
rear of the church for $5.

As you gather with family and friends this Easter

remember to be people who travel safely, who gather
respectively and who celebrate happily. Let your table
be a place of peace and a place where each person is
ready to make room for the neighbours
humanness, the neighbours say too muchness, or
the neighbours need for reconciliation or
forgiveness. As we gather on this day like no other we
look for the risen Christ in that is around us and in us
and we give thanks for its saving presence.

Guiding Childrens Faith Journey

Are you interested in guiding children on part of their
faith journey? Catholic Special Religious Education

There is no need for you

to be afraid

When Christians love their religion

more than their God

about a time you experienced Gods presence.

Instead of criticising a particular theologiantell us
how God is moving in your life.
Instead of questioning a denominationtell us what
you love about God.
Instead of condemning someone's beliefs about
eternitytell us how God has changed you.
Instead of arguing over the proper way to facilitate
the sacrament of communiontell us about the ups
and downs of your relationship with God.
Instead of preaching about a right or wrong method of
baptismtell us your faith testimony.
Instead of talking about religion, introduce us to God.

Instead of promoting Christ, Christians often

promote
their theology
their culture
their values
their creeds
their traditions
their spiritual practices
their specific type of baptism
their required form of communion
their style of sermon
their church
their denomination
their definition of salvation
their philosophy or evangelism
their form of ministry their brand of worship
their interpretation of Revelation
their interpretation of the Bible
their favourite leadership model
their social customs
their laws, rules and regulations
their political beliefs
their moral values
Imagine if Christians introduced people to their God
instead of their religion.
In a pluralistic society obsessed with consumerism,
marketing, entertainment, and comfort, it is tempting
for Christians to endorse unique attributes of their
specific church, community, traditions, and faith
instead of actually introducing people to God.
When this happens, the Gospel of Christ gets
manipulated from something profound into a
superficial sales pitch thats commoditised to fulfil an
array of selfish desires.
A particular brand of Christianity is propagated above
all othersbeing worshipped and valued even more
than God. We lose focus on the centrality of Jesus and
obsess over the infinite differences within
Christendom.
Instead of being unified in Christ, were divided by our
distinctionsour beliefs become a form of idolatry.
Inevitably, 99 percent of humanity fails to fit into our
ideal picture of commands to gracefully love our
neighbourseven our enemiesand refrain from
judging others, we do the exact opposite.
In this the type of live-giving, hopeful, joyous and
loving faith we want to share with the world? Is this
the message of the Gospel: Im right and youre
wrong?
Instead of comparing versions of the Bibletell us
what God has been speaking to you.
Instead of complaining about worship stylestell us

Welcome the Stranger

Community Shared Dinner
Great Lakes Rural Australians for Refugees is hosting a
Community Shared Dinner in the Parish Hall
on Saturday 11th April at 6pm to welcome four
Burmese Rohynga men, who are staying with a local
family for two weeks. In the Gospel message,
Matthew 25:35, I was a stranger and you welcomed
me... we learn that Christ will consider done to
himself the kind of treatment that is reserved to any
human person, in particular, to the least among them,
the stranger.
The Parish Social Justice Group supports this
community dinner and all are invited to share a meal
and conversation with these refugee men on Saturday
11 April. Please bring food to share and drinks will be
provided. For further information please contact Tim
on 0428 104 512.
