Vetting Inspection Feedback Forms

INTERTANKO form
Your opportunity to feed back
We then feed that back to OCIMF and CDI
And they do listen

Leading the way; making a difference

Direct Costs
Each inspection must be paid for
But, costs should be reasonable
Inspectors should come from local area
Travel and hotels commensurate to job
Profit centres
Leading the way; making a difference

Costs
Both SIRE and CDI seeing a reduction in
direct costs
Due to CDIs system of self-regulation,
CDI inspection costs have plateaued over
the last 18 months and are now showing
a slight downward trend.

CDI Statistics 1st February 2015

71 Participants
868 Ship operators
4747 Ships on the database
2035 Inspections last 12 months
1860 Ships active
7927 Accesses per year
Ship Inspection Access Ratio 3.9
98 Accredited Inspectors
Leading the way; making a difference

Indirect costs
Pre vetting inspections
Administrative burden
Port delays
Potential for distraction
Cancellations

Leading the way; making a difference

Availability of inspectors
Absence in some parts of the World
Too many in others, but no competition
Charterer requirements, but no inspector
If you are paying for the service then
they should recognise that and respond
Leading the way; making a difference

Crewing matrix
Too many differing requirements
Stifles promotion
Keeps less competent officers in place
Pay a premium for those meeting the
matrix

the SIRE system by OCIMF members
Issued discussed included:
increased sharing of ship inspection stats
data
improved feedback systems on ship
inspections and inspectors
development of best practice guidance on
important areas of marine risk assurance
development of matters related to crew
competency
