Introduction
The Pre-school Educational Service is the main service in the Anganwadis. The children in the age group of 2 and 6 years are the main
beneficiaries, and teaching them, according to their age, different skills and other activities is necessary. According to the suggestions of ECERS (Early
Childhood Environment Rating Scale) they are divided into two groups, the first group being the small children's group (between the ages of 2 and 4
years), and the second group being the big children's group (between the ages of 4 and 6). It is our aim and plan to prepare the children for further
education and so the small children's group is being taught self-help, skill based activities and pre-school learning, and the big children's group is being
trained in school readiness activities. The groups of children will be according to their age as follows:
* The group of children between 2 years and 4 years.
* The group of children between 4 years and 6 years.

The group of children from 2 to 4 years:

All children coming to Anganwadis between the ages of 2 and 4 years will be evaluated in learning skills based on goals. For every skill-based
evaluation the details given in the directory may be considered, and evaluation may be arranged only when the need arises. Therefore, the evaluation
lists are prepared and listed based on the pre-skills necessary for each activity.

The skill areas that fall under this directive:

1. General Knowledge
2. Gross motor skills.
3. Fine motor skills
* Self-help skills
* Manipulation kills.
4. Language development
5. Cognitive development
6. Social and Emotional Development.
7. Pre-academic skills

Directions for the Evaluators:

Before Evaluation:

Please classify the children into two age groups of 2 to 4 years and 4 to 6 years, for facilitating the evaluation.
A plan may be made to understand how the evaluation should be done.
In the list available with you, please mark with pencil how many children are present.
Please clarify the details of children (according to names) who are undergoing evaluation.
Please ensure that all the required materials are available before evaluation.
All details have to be filled up found at the top of the Evaluation Sheet.
The evaluators have to properly arrange the answer sheets which they are going to evaluate. By this, it will be
easier for them to inspect them after evaluation.
Please use the Teaching and Learning Aids of AF as applicable

Page 2 Akshara Foundation Research and Evaluation Department 2014-15

During Evaluation:

Please use the directive of the evaluation strictly.

Please record the result of each child under the marks index. (Ex: Correct = 1, Wrong = 0. If the child hasn't answered =
N.A.). The evaluation has to be marked against each item.
When you ask the child any question, many instructions should not be given. Only those instructions present along with
the questions should be given. And no help should be offered through any action or signs.
No reactions should be expressed when the child gives a wrong answer. Wrong answers are also important for the study.
The children should be treated with friendship, creating a play atmosphere, and then the evaluation should be started.
If the information is not matching or is incomplete, the same should be inspected and filled.
The evaluators should keep the probable answers in mind, while evaluating and awarding marks. (If necessary, please use
the Akshara Foundation Learning and Teaching Hand book.)
Please award the marks for each question and record it with pencil in the box given below. (Each question should be
awarded marks.)
The evaluators should ascertain the answer written in the answer sheet and make sure that the evaluation of it is done.
After the evaluation, the evaluators should write their name and the date in the evaluation sheet.
The marks scored by each child should be recorded in the place specified next to each name in the evaluation sheet.
After recording the marks in the evaluation sheet, the details have to be verified twice, before starting evaluating the next
child.

After the evaluation

All this information should be filled and the organisers have to be intimated.
